Hello, I really enjoy your videos. My question is - is underlayment necessary for stairs or its only for rooms lets say?
    Thank you

For stairs don’t need underlay, because you have to glue down wood to the staircase. Thanks for watching and your question!

Yes, I did it. You can check video how to make square nosing. It’s exactly about this project.

When converting carpet stairs to wood, what process do you use if there is an existing piece of plywood/OSB that is either flush with/level or recessed lower than the bullnose? I want to maintain the same height as my current setup, but I have OSB that is slightly lower than the bullnose with a small gap.

I enjoyed the video, thank you. I have a question for you. I am installing hardwood at the top of the stairs in my loft. I removed the carpet from the top stair but the bull nose of the existing stairs is about 1/4 inch lower than the sub floor that leads into my loft. What is the best way to build up the top step it is level with the rest of the floor and I can install the hardwood stair nose?

I would think the square edge on the nosing would hurt your feet when walking without shoes?
