It still blows my mind that people ride around in shorts and nike sneakers.
And better yet they speed, or even do wheelies in shorts and sneakers.
Saw a clip of someone dumping a sport bike at about 100mph in shorts and a T shirt and I can't imagine that person had much skin left.
or even open face helmets, I like having my face and teeth. When I ride the only gear im not wearing is my riding pants (unless im doing trips somewhere on the highway) because they are uncomfortable AF and I don't need to look like im going to the track when I'm just riding the streets. I own a motocross body armor that I wear instead of my leather jacket on really hot days and even then I know I'm taking a risk.
In Brazil they ride in shorts and sandals lol.
@jairoz5412 same in southeast Asia. Malaysia only recently made it a requirement to wear a helmet and still people will avoid doing so at any opportunity
Right! Couldn’t be me….Addidas only.
"So we just got demonetized..."
I laughed so hard.
Same 😂😂 I felt that one lol
DanDan: "So we just got demonetized..."
me: "... and i suddenly feel phantom pain on my left foot ankle..." O_O
My entire body feels lightheaded lol
Most of these riders getting into dangerous road situations aren't defensive riders. They are riding on the wrong side of the road, too fast, doing maneuvers they don't have to, putting themselves in the blinds spots, rev bombing, all the typical bs. 23:00 - this is great reaction from a defensive rider!
Exactly! I'm a daily rider and enjoy watching these videos to keep it in my head to ride defensively. I've only ever been in two minor crashes. First one was my fault, I was a new rider at the time and my first time caught in the rain I leaned my bike too much and low sided, was going a slow speed anyway so it wasn't a big deal just some minor damage to the bike. Second one there wasn't anything I could've done, just got rear ended at a red light, again at a slow speed so just damage to the rear brake light and license plate holder.
There's been plenty of situations I've been in however where riding defensively made things that could've been big issues into no issue at all. Just don't ride aggressive, angrily, or with an ego and you'll most likely be all good
I randomly decided to ride without my jacket today to run an errand exactly 1 mile away.
But then came home to watch this and will never ride without it again.
I crashed my brand new bike a couple months ago turning into a gas station. I had full gear on and only had bruises, but it was sand and a whiskey throttle over a bump then going flying pretty much. 95hp bouncing my bike off a giant railroad tie planter. Made me glad I had my jacket on. Never riding w/o it.
Just take into account how long ankleman waited for the ambulance to get to him, all that time looking at his ankle.
@@r1learner178 yeah.... i'd prefer to never have to do that... I would've passed out for sure though as stuff like this makes me weak feeling haha
Dan, I’m happy to say that 99.9% of the motorcycle riders i see in the Los Angeles area are wearing full gear. They must know about your channel!
As soon as i begin talking with any motorcycle rider about safety, they immediately mention your channel.
you are well known Dan!
Thank you for your dedication, and commitment; to teaching these important skills.
Think about this. While riding at 70 MPH, more or less, and looking down past your foot at the asphalt buzzing by at a blur. Now visualize working in your shop at home and taking a close look at your bench grinder running a full speed. Now imagine putting your knee, elbow, cheek or chin against it as hard as you can. That asphalt is a much bigger surface area than the little 1 inch wide grinding wheel. Asphalt is still the number 1, most efficient, successful, one treatment tattoo remover. The largest organ in your body is your skin. It keeps out bacteria, regulates body temperature and hold your internal organs in place.
Now imagine that shoulder filled with toothpicks, needles, bullet casings, glass, steel bits, used condoms all stuck in your skin 😳
@15:30, I can barely watch this.... I broke my right knee on the SAME dirt bike. I did a lot worse than tearing ligaments in the knee though, I broke the top of my tibia into 5 pieces. It set my life long understanding of what level 10 pain is like. For those that don't know, level 10 is where you can barely talk or think and you'd welcome death if it was offered to you. Ortho surgeon for the Dallas Cowboys put my knee back together again. Thank you Dr. McAdams!!!
Bet the flesh crayon will wear proper gear in the future.
color the highway... Sounds like a lot of fun!
From experience, there's 80% and more of a chance he won't.
Accoring to his replies to the comments he wont
”Flesh crayon”, heh, I like that!
@@Suppagappa that's what we call 'em in germany.
I’ve lost count of how many riders go by my work w/half-helmets, shorts, t-shirts & no gloves. All while filtering & speeding, in the bike lane! 😳
communication? the bikes have fucking turn signals... and the sign blaming... WELL I WAS GOING WAY TOO FAST TO READ THE SIGNS SO CLEARLY ITS THEIR FAULT!
Blaming the signs is really new.. Inventive, in a certain, very peculiar way.
They missed 'SLOW' being written twice in big letters on the road as well
The best part of these videos is all the power rangers just not being able to ride the bike they had to have.
19:22 it literally says "SLOW" on the asphalt.
"Oooooooh Geeeeeeeeeeez" another great vid from Dan!
The video of the guy with the broken foot, should be shown to everyone before they get a license to show why you need to wear gear. AGAT
Thanks!
Thank you!
At least that was the rear brake knee he ruined, no need for that leg lol.
Dude went from riding a crotch rocket to riding a crotch furnace. Yikes!
I hate they demonetize , he didn't really like that tattoo anyway.
Glad to see examples of riders doing the right things to avoid crashing.
Big fan of the channel. Today im sure your teachings I got from the videos here saved me from a crash. I positioned myself better in potentially hazardous situation and car with yeld sign came partially in front of me and I was able to seek the escape route before the car moved so rather then doing panic braking I was able to counter steer and avoided the car because I knew where I can go IF something happens. I had got my motorcycle licence this summer so still beginner rider. Thanks Dan.
I’m taking my class in August and watching your videos has made me aware and so much more patient. So thank you and I look forward to riding my bike.
Thank you Dan,
you are a life saver. Saving millions of lives every day!
Been a fan for years man. I'd always wanted to get into riding, just everytime I got ready to it never worked out. Your tips and tricks have actually helped me alot with car driving over the years and honing my skills, being able to see threats. Finally got around to riding and completed my MSF course today! Keep up the channel!
Your comment about stick in the shin reminded me of an enduro ride I was on. I was on a narrow singletrack lined with freshly cut manzanita bushes. One of the cut (at an angle) branches skewered my biceps and pulled me off the bike. I still have two scars from where it went in one side and came out on the other side.
This has to be one of the best bike channels on the tube.
I cringe so hard whenever I see people riding around in shorts and no shirt cause my immediate thought is always just ‘meat crayon’
Wow. Loved this video and your description. Great work. Love from down under.
Aviation has the Aviate - Navigate - Communicate principle. Same applies to bikes: Spot the hazards - Find the open spots and get yourself safe - then communicate, if required, I guess. Rather just do about my day but whatever. Love the videos where guys revbomb while a car is actively coming at them.... yeah, that'll save you.
Hey Dan, just a q. At 22:00 the dudes were helping their buddy up to their feet, but I was taught either 1. Don't move the pt at all, or 2. If it's more ideal for them to be moved, let them get up on their own as helping them up can aggravate injuries. Ofc there's log roll for suspected neck or spinal injuries, and do whatever it takes if the situation makes not dying more important, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on that guy in the woods
one of the videos I've seen by you so far! now I have a good reason to not even think about learning stunts om MC, watching others do it is good enough when they doesn't fail
I haven't run across this channel is a while, but OMG the secondary flinching I went through while watching reminded me why I can't watch too many of these 🤣.
Excellent analysis, as always.
Me too. If you watch too much could get PTSD
That last one looked like a classic English summer's day.
Much respect for what you do, as always, Dan. People need to see the consequences. Wear the gear.
7:00 no comms yes but also riding way too close together as usual. I fucking hate when my friends get too close to me
So many panic crashes made by failing to make the corner by apparent paralysis. Intuitively and entirely subconsciously, these riders know about counter steering under normal circumstances but when they panic they try the opposite technique and cannot understand why they stop turning. I was one of these until quite recently when I suddenly realised what the actual mechanics were when I turned the bike at speed. Pulling the handlebars the wrong way is anything but intuitive. 😂
Very good teachings. Gonna switch to full-napkin magic armor now, ride 2ft behind everybody at 80mph and start doing meditations to enable road rage because someone switched lanes half a mile ahead and had to like slow down from 80 to 79, which is against the rules in my super secret road ninja club
What sucks is that educational videos get demonetized by youtube
SAM splints are absolutely PRICELESS!!
3:22 my man transformed into Butters for a sec 😂
Hey Dan! I’ve been binge watching your videos for a couple days now. Don’t even own a bike or ride yet, gonna be a bit down the road, but I get a lot of value from what you do. I will never not wear gear that’s for sure lol. Also, it seems like a lot of riders either have a huge ego or think they get special treatment on the road. A car will always win vs a bike so why risk it? Not sure if it’s a false confidence thing or trying to intimidate drivers but I can see this is a huge issue. Someone I saw on another video kept saying to ride like you are literally invisible to everyone on the road. Good advice in my book. Look forward to seeing more of your content!
Hey Dan, what earplugs do you recommend for longer rides?
"So now that we're demonetized, check this out" 😅😂
Top 4 safety tips. 1. Buy novsight led headlights. 2. buy a denali soundbomb horn the full size one. 3. Put some black tape or vinyl along the bottom of your visor. on sunny days tilt the visor to block the sun. 4. stop thinking right of way matters if your dead it doesn't matter.
That fracture put me in sympathetic shock. I had to lay down for a bit before I could finish watching it. Glad it wasn't anywhere near that bad when I broke mine.
I wear motor shoes (those sneaker-y things) and this has me thinking I should upgrade on safety lol
They are better than nothing, but yeah if you get stupid you need actual boots. Pants not a bad idea either.
My only injury was a broken collar bone and the NHS said "we just leave them to heal on their own" and so I went home angry cause I wanted them to make it straight. Now I still have a lump of bone there as the two bones just rest on each other and heal. Then I saw that Itchy Boots video where she broke her collar bone and got surgery and then had massive complications from it....... Like oh I'm glad I didn't bother with that, it makes sense they told me it is better just to leave it.
You know Noraly´s going to be good right? Soft tissue tends to heal a lot better, I think they were wrong in not resetting your collar bone, because that might hurt you for the rest of your life. But that´s just my thoughts, anyway. I´ve never broken a bone, I´m just going off what I´ve seen and heard from others.
@@olenilsen4660 I dunno what has happened to her as I do not watch her, but I just saw a video of her on TH-cam and cause I had a broken collar bone I decided to watch it. She said she had a collapsed lung and something else happen... the main thing I'd worry about is infection though and you're always going to have a scar. Plus as I learned when I had an operation for an unrelated thing to biking, it can mess with your nerves too and there will always be a scar there, so it's best not to operate when it isn't needed. I have no pain there any more, the lump of bone gets smaller over the years and now mine is really small. I expect it'll all be gone eventually as now you cannot even see I've broken it at all.
I have the bump too bro and I'm in the US with great insurance.
12:30 Everyone should be forced to watch this video when they get their riding permit.
I just cant watch that. I will listen.... 😦 I will wear gear... wont be stupid... gahhh.. LOL
when they start dumping the water bottle on that fire.... wtf
lmao
I don't understand how some riders feel like everyone else is only supposed to follow rules and not make mistakes. Just because we decide to ride motorcycles don't give us a pass and don't center the roads around us. Watch what your doing, drive carefully, people make mistakes.
Riding at that HIGH-SPEEDS ...!!!!
😳🤯😱
And What do we EXPECT .... 🙄🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
😅
12:43 this is exactly why as a dude thats going to be getting into motorcycle riding I’m getting gear that has the highest protection.
Insurance will cover the bike, motorcycle gear is insurance for your body.
TH-cams censorship policys drive me fuckin nuts man.. Much love and support always Daniel!!
Question I would like answered. Reducing risk of open book fracture…would a tank bag reduce that risk?
Hey DDTFM, have you quit doing motovolg videos? If so why? Seems like I haven't seen one from you out riding in a while.
I've been focusing on developing riding content around education. The vlogs are fun, but not an interest anymore.
@@DanDanTheFireman thanks for the response, which makes sense, and although I really like all of your content, I do miss the motovlogs! I watched your videos and had only sat on a bike once before taking the MSF course and then buying my first motorcycle! So I credit you heavily for me making it through those early days!! Thanks for taking on this endeavor I really believe you have made a difference and have saved some lives out there with your videos!
I never understood why people don't just trail brake through a corner, I seriously think we need to have proper track based lessons with a jig for people to practice on before they pass their test.
Yea provides more stability
Motorcycles crashing is VERY COMMON in Foreign countries Outside INDIA BECAUSE they ride so many POWERFUL MOTORCYCLES ( sometimes I literary feels JEALOUS ) eg. ZX4 RR, BMW M1000 R, R1, SUZUKI SV650, SPEED TRIPLE, HONDA Fireblade, DUCATI Panigal, MT 09 etc.etc.
And MOST Riders unable to control their Bike's Power and SPEED ... !!!! 😳🤯🙄
In our INDIA Majority rider ride low engine cc motorcycles eg. PULSAR 150, R15, NS 200, FZ16, SUZUKI 250SF, FZ25, MT-15 etc.
ALL low cc Bikes which can be controlled easily.
😅😅😅
That’s a distal shaft tibia / fibula fracture. Probably ended up with an intramedullary nail and plate and screw fixation. You have to make sure that the blood supply isn’t cut off to the foot from the deformity. They’re scary injuries to deal with in the field.
19:21 not obscured SLOW written on the road 😂😂😂
Seeing that foot, gave me the cage shakes. Jesus man
25:45 This clip is in England. The car was going to wrong way around a roundabout.
Some great "Please wear gear" injuries today.
The amount of footage I see of riders cracking the sads for being pushed out of a land because they’re in a cars blind spot is crazy.
Lane positioning is very important on the road, make sure you fully occupy the lane your in, don’t sit in the far left lane in the left wheel track than get pissy because you’re not making your presence known on the road.
The lack of roadcraft on display is amazing, most of the time they're sat in a position that would be daft to be in in a car
So, what causes speed wobbles, and what do you do if you find yourself in that position?
Your front suspension gets out of whack and the gyroscopic forces end up in opposition to how the suspension is trying to move. If you get there, roll off the throttle and stay light on the bars. Once your speed comes down enough, the wobbles will stop.
@@shadowmancy9183 Cool, thanks.
19:20 Literally said SLOW on the road like 3 times, long before the corner. Blame Unintelligent riding, not the signs
At 19:22 the signs may have been obscured but the road has "slow" all over it 🤔
Why do the cameras always blur when they crash 😭 I wanna see the full thing
28:20 1) the threat is over, no point in them hearing you at that point, 2) Bandits don't rev high enough to be louder than its horn, 3) or maybe it's time for a new horn.
He did an LOL.... landed on leg
I just had to search Open book fracture and it sounds pretty dang painful.
@14:30 hello from the 805.
Gear.
I had my arm full with metal splinters. I was 13 I think. Arm became red with hundreds of tiny metal splinters.
20:46 Oh hey, I think you covered another video if this crash recently!
omg that T looked like an L in Motostars and I thought it was a typo haha
Worst death wobble I’ve watched in my life 😮
4:58 OMG! I hear Chloe from Life Is Strange in the background there xD
The first rider target fixated on the spot where he was going to have his next accident.
Finally you addressed the poo again :)
😂😂Silent Hill
graphic warning * dont click* this is for me ‼ ⚠
11:17
The "And we got demonatized" came right after an ad for me. Lol. Dont know if you make money anyway though.
Would motorbike boots really help there?
Absolutely
A good friend of mine lost his leg below his knee after fractured ankle.
"annnnnd we just got demonitized"
So what we learned.. stupity and speeding ends badly..
Good reality check in this one! Wear gear!
Thank you!
Why did you get demonetized? That could have been avoided if he was wearing those safety riding footwear.
React to Gta v bike crashes😂pls bro
I appreciate the extra effort to show the injury....aaand we just got demonetized. I feel for ya bud.
29:04 looks like English moors
Turn signals are your friends....and mandatory where I come from.
here is my thoughts about gear and i don't get why people don't wear it. most riders have at least a helmet but you are wearing a helmet for your protection just in case you crash but if you are already worried about crashing then why not have any other gear?
I get that some places you have to have a helmet (laws). and helmets are good face protection when going high speeds (like wind or small debris).
But come on.
I know 2 men lost left arm one barbed wire one low side driveway pipe.
Why do they run off the road before they even get to the corner?😢❤
Ducati crash at 19 min was all skill issue and nothing else lol
I made it halfway through. I’m good.
But he can pull a hella good high speed wheelie for the entertainment of the other drivers. I never understood the attraction.
Bro that took the turn WAY too fast and blamed signs is looking for a reason to not be the one at fault. You bought a new bike and couldn't hang with your buddy. Own up to that ffs.
Riding in short sleeve shirt, shorts, regular low shoes...you can't stunt _and_ wear gear, ya know? if you wear gear you're lame, and you can't stunt if you're lame
