    P0299 was the fault code when I had an underboost issue, warnings and limp mode on a CR170. Tested the actuator by pulling the vac tube and sucking with my mouth, couldn't hold a vacuum at all. VW/Audi specialist tried to sting me for a complete turbo, I said no as VW released an actuator, they claimed they weren't aware but booked me in and said they'd have a look. Unfortunately there are a lot of fake/sub par actuators for sale of websites like ebay for around £100. I paid a little extra to get one from a reputable source with a bit of warranty. Even on the day if dropping it off the specialist was said that it'll be the turbo as the vanes stick. A couple of hours later got the call that it was all fitted and working, cost considerably less than a complete turbo replacement.

    Top man THOR!!! Sorted me out today although getting that bit off with the VW tool would have saved me at least an hour.

    Nice One Reedy, i have the 1.9tdi polo i think it looks identical i suspect my actuator is faulty i had the flashing coil light and now the EML is showing, is it worth trying a reset before i dive into changeing and another query is are the ones ebay any good, they all look pretty similar but i did like the one you had with the bigger nuts, I done the thumbs and subscribe, Thanks for this video to

    👍I’m trying to replace the same activator what a pain had to cut the rod down with a hacksaw blade so I can reach the nut on the rod .think it’s a12mm nut .
    Is it 0.7 volt on full boast position ?

    • @reedy8585
      @reedy8585  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a 10 mm from memory and I'm not sure what the full boost voltage should be the details of how to calibrate it are towards the end. But you won't get a reading for full boast unless you are driving the car or on a rolling road boost is limited under no load

      Reedy777 hi
      think it most be non genuine part thats on the nut not 10m held on by red loctite. Job for anther none wet storm day .

    how did you get the nut of the Acuator rod so it would slip through the barrel

    • @reedy8585
      @reedy8585  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to unbolt the actuator from the turbo in order to slide the rod with 2 nuts out, once you've removed the lower nut using the special spanner from the vnt control rod on the turbo. If that's what you mean.

    Sir, what size wrench are the three bolts you used??

      If I remember rightly they are 10mm

    The fault code I get with mine is P0299 underboost, do you think this is a similar issue to the one in your video? Doesn't happen as easily as yours, only under hard load. I'd rather fix it myself if it's doable, I know and dealer / garage will just want to put a whole new unit on. Thanks

    • @reedy8585
      @reedy8585  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Underboost and overboost are both caused by the turbo boost pressure not meeting the requested pressure from the engine ecu the atmospheric pressure sensor on the intake manifold messures this. If the sensor is faulty will give an incorrect reading and the fault will show. Equally when the ecu requests the actuator to adjust the vnt veins this directly affects the amount of boost pressure the turbo creates. If they are jammed or unable to move because the actuator has failed completely or failing not moving the correct amount these errors will show

    Hi im getting this problem also with the cide p0087 on a seat leon 1.6tdi...we have changed the fuel rail sensor and going to change the fuel filter 2morrow if that doesnt work is my car then basically scrap??

    • @reedy8585

      @@reedy8585 thnx for replay i replace it but the car has no power en turn after 1 minute off
      I think i have underboost what do you think?
      I can not read the measuring with my vdcs because this acateur is without sensor on the top

    • @reedy8585
      @reedy8585  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@quattro4lifet844 did you say the engine cuts out after 1 minute? If that's the case it could be a number of things but most likely an issue with the fuel supply change fuel filter if its not been changed it can be that simple. If not check the fuel pumps you have a low pressure pump that feeds fuel from the tank to the high pressure tandem pump, you should be able to read the pressure of the fuel to the injectors using vcds
