Great show nice trucks. I drive 18 wheelers and the reason most are drum is because up intill bedix came out with there system two years ago there were no reliable disc breaks for 18 wheelers but now they are all switching to disc. They are way easier to service and stop 140 feet shorter than drum, last much longer and don't over heat as quickly.

Rob K Even if you could afford one, why would you want it? It's too big to maneuver around in normal circumstances not to mention in tight places, hard to park and get in and out of, the list goes on. Completely impractical and a waste of money, at least with an exotic vehicle you have a better chance in maintaining its resale value, with this in 10 to 20 years time it would be worth nothing.

I actually met one of the gents who worked for RTech in Spokane a while back. I think I still have his card in my wallet. They sometimes actually buy wrecked or rollover trucks and pull the body off and use the powertrain. Really cool process.
Does that surprise you that they buy scrap? Costs less. I like how this sales guy acts like he has some state of the art rebuild process for the Cummins.
M One can’t blame him. The reason i met him because I was buying a rollover 2008 duramax with good powertrain from the same wholesaler as him. And we started talking. I can see why they do more Cummins swaps than duramax. Duramax is an engine that requires more electrical to run.
@@mr.lowslow7702 there is nothing wrong with him using the tried and true 12v platform for any heavy duty truck build. I love how in nearly every single video Jay leaves an indicator blinking away. If he does that with a BMW that'll confuse the hell out of other LA drivers. 😁
That's a lot of lift. The '66 Chevy would look so much better if it had been modded closer to stock. I still appreciate the work that went into it, though.
Agree with that so much! I've seen photo's of this thing for a while now, but seeing the video from further away driving it down the road... its WAY too tall. some 19.5's with stock type tires, this thing would look great.
Exactly my thoughts. Usually lifting is done to create clearance for larger tires. I think the lift should be lowered by an inch and the tyres swapped out for 38s. You should have breaks and axles capable of handling them in a truck that big anyway. Probably not the best choice to run down the highway with, but they look much better. People are often surprised how much better older suvs and trucks look with bigger modern tires and hubs.

Don’t like the fuel filler under the hood. More of a chance to spill fuel on the engine. I know diesel has a low flash point but, I wouldn’t want to take a chance. Good build though.
My dad bought one new in ‘66. It was a Custom cab 3/4 ton made for a pickup camper. Had a heavy diamond plate full width step number that was mounted on sliding frame rails and could be pulled out to accommodate the rear of the camper. 10 lug split wheels (19” maybe?) with 80psi max tires. 327ci 4-bolt main, 411 rear, PS, PB, factory AC, Wood planked bed, same color with chrome everything.Never wrecked and totally original right up until the day he sold it in the mid eighties. Not sure wth I was thinking when I let it get away.
That 66 dually is awesome!! The two things I'd do differently would be an independent suspension in front and modern power seats. I do love straight axles, but the leave springs ride like crap, and after a few miles the ride beats you half to death.
Lol Jay thought it was like 500 or 600 miles from Fort Worth to Vegas. I just did the math, try well over 1000! 1,196.2 miles. I guess people really forget how damn big Texas is? It took me like 7 hours to go from Forth Worth all the way down to Corpus Christi to help my brother move back up to the DFW Metroplex. That was just over 400 miles.
Crazy isn't it? You could drive 100 mph from one side of the DFW Metroplex to the other and STILL be in the DFW Metroplex 2 hours later. Texas is a strange place.
What a beast! This is a "Buy once, cry forever " deal. Especially when you are at the pump. Still think if you've got the dough to blow, this would be the ultimate truck to get. It exudes quality in the build.👍
Love those two resto-mods. That thing sounds as sweet as it looks. If I had the money, I'd be sore tempted to get a '70 Ford F-250 version of this. I don't think I'd go with a dually , but I'd go with probably everything else.
yeah tall is cool but it's borderline over the top. not sure if i saw the single axle but the dually was parked outside at SEMA and it was as big (if not bigger) than many of the modern "Brodozers" that were there. still have the pic on my phone.
Would have some issues with those rear tires exposed beyond the wheel house and with no mud flaps, the bumper height too high also headlights may not be D.O.T. approved either but beautiful trucks I must say .
Yeah I thought that was a bit of a snarky comment, at least to me. If I'm driving, I'll drive how I want to! Jay should have told him to shut his lips!

@@Cody6210 In semi trucks they only come out of adjustment if something fails where drums back off over time no matter what. Stopping power is also better than drums.
Checked the K-W site following someone else's comment (which I now can't find) where he said he'd driven one of last year's models with drum brakes. Seems they have F&R discs as standard on almost all of their trucks, with drums being optional - might be down to attitudes and/or costs.
@@Cody6210 Depends on how you define "power" - there is a self-servo affect on the leading shoe(s) whereas a disc is reliant on the squeeze. For extreme use, a drum 'may' be able to apply greater peak brake torque, but that is debatable and, regardless, drum brakes simply cannot dissipate the heat as readily as a disc brake, so are much more likely to 'burn out' or fade, as you said. There is also another design dfference that is important - with a drum brake, as it heats and expands, it increases the brake travel of the wheel cylinders to apply them and, with some vehicles, this can result in a VERY low pedal. With disc brakes as the disc heats and expands it is actually moving towards the caliper pistons, slightly reducing travel.

Did anyone else see the fact that on this 150k truck the steering stabilizer shock was off at 19:21..
0750MRam nice catch
Nate M what is the steering stabilizer?
Fuzz Mantra the shock that’s sideways on the front axle . Blue and silver thing
Yeah that is so weird, when they pulled out of the shop you can clearly see it moving with the steering. Did it fall off while they were driving?
You know the thing
I thought Jay asked him all the rite questions and the man had all the rite answers he knows his builds nice truck THANKS JAY
That 66 dually is awesome!! The two things I'd do differently would be an independent suspension in front and modern power seats. I do love straight axles, but the leave springs ride like crap, and after a few miles the ride beats you half to death.
Incredible work on a pretty impractical pair of trucks
Lol Jay thought it was like 500 or 600 miles from Fort Worth to Vegas. I just did the math, try well over 1000! 1,196.2 miles. I guess people really forget how damn big Texas is? It took me like 7 hours to go from Forth Worth all the way down to Corpus Christi to help my brother move back up to the DFW Metroplex. That was just over 400 miles.
Crazy isn't it?
You could drive 100 mph from one side of the DFW Metroplex to the other and STILL be in the DFW Metroplex 2 hours later.
Texas is a strange place.
Everything's bigger in Texas. 👍
BFKAnthony817 well it’s only like two inches on the map....
😂😂😂😂
Yeah those 12v Cummins get the best mileage out of anything pickup diesel.
No, what people forget is that the rich are in no way in touch with reality because a 1200 mile road trip is not in their capacity of thought.
I love the creative ways they tried to hide this thing rolling coal so Jay doesn’t get burned at the stake in Comifornia!😂
I don’t see why every state shouldn’t ticket or impound any rolling coal 3/4 or 1 ton commuter diesel truck.
@Toob247 Toob247
It really is insane how they think China exists in a bubble like we dont share the same air. Give us our trucks and stfu!
@@brandonryan1218 That's because you're living life as a flaming homosexual.
Doesn't matter in Cali with a truck that old. Diesels pre-97 don't have to pass smog.
thanks for showcasing two massively, powerful retro mods with real world drive ability.
24:05 "HALF OZ INDOOR WEED" lol nice billboard
ADD much?
seen that too..lol
They look better than anything on the road today! Nothing like the 60s and 70s style!
Sea foam green denotes everything 60's
That truck sounds beautiful
I have a dream that all Vehicle Brands offer the Cummins Diesel.
Or the good ol IDI 7.3l
2021 Kia rio with a Cummings diesel!

I’m not a huge truck guy, but man is the truck Jay was driving cool as hell!
24:07 Best prices on indoor weed sign! I'm in Wisconsin where it's still illegal so odd to see that.
One day that sign needs to be legal everywhere.
It looks odd that high maybe, drop it 6 inches.
yeah tall is cool but it's borderline over the top. not sure if i saw the single axle but the dually was parked outside at SEMA and it was as big (if not bigger) than many of the modern "Brodozers" that were there. still have the pic on my phone.
Dropping it 18-24 inches would be better. Jacked up trucks just look ignorant to me.
Disagree. I like it. I'm really tired of the Chip Foose "slammed" look on everything.
@@jackmehoff4613 Thats just Foosed up,😂 🤣
Would have some issues with those rear tires exposed beyond the wheel house and with no mud flaps, the bumper height too high also headlights may not be D.O.T. approved either but beautiful trucks I must say .
Old guy driving straight with Left turn signal on, Classic!!
Nice Trucks
Oh my God, what a beautiful truck!
Jay sitting at 2200 rpm this guy "you have another gear" lol
lol
Yeah I thought that was a bit of a snarky comment, at least to me. If I'm driving, I'll drive how I want to! Jay should have told him to shut his lips!
and jays reply is "i know i know, i have too much torque" Yeah jay that why we would stay in a high gear, lol
One of these would look nice BESIDE OF my Christmas Tree!
Very unique builds!
Merry Christmas, Mr. Leno, family and crew!
Merry Christmas Rtech Fabrications family!
I would like to have one done with an older model Dodge!
He's wrong about semi truck. They have been moving to disk over drum for about 5 years. Only lower spec trucks are coming with drums now.
Drums still have more stopping power, only downside is brake fade over distance
With disc brakes as the disc heats and expands it is actually moving towards the caliper pistons, slightly reducing travel.
drums are self energizing
Jay's had the blinker on since he left the garage.
Sherlock??????
$250,000 truck and the turn signal won't even turn itself off after turning. I guess the indicator in the dash wasn't noticeable enough for Jay to realize it was on either.
Old man Jay just driving around with his blinker on 🤣🤣🤣
The blinker is for the camera crew so they know what he is doing etc so intentional... he explained it in one vid so not broken but nice to see so many dumb comments
@@danielleclare2938 the camera crew is there filming every single vehicle he drives but you don't see the right turn signal stay on for the entire drive during those other episodes. I'm sure the camera crew appreciated not being able to tell what the hell he was really going to do since his turn signal never turned off the whole damn time. The dumb comment is yours.
The look of mid 60's Chevy trucks is as classic as the 55-57 Bel Air. I also love that original blue/green color, I remember that color.
Allison’s are good aren’t they? Yeah they are good, but big... yeah, that’s what I have in my tank. Hahaha only Jay
The C-60 is way cool. If I could order one for myself I'd go a little easier with the lift kit.
Jay needs to do another vid on that Duesenberg on end of vid. NBC pulled the original video. Best car in his collection. Full stop. Bring it on Jay.
This is a bit out jay’s interests. I’m glad he test drives and reviews all areas of car and truck communities
Those trucks are true hybrid vehicles. 50% really cool and 50% badass. That’s much better than a Prius hybrid.
These truck are for guys with little weenies who want to 100% compensate for nature having f*cked them over.
I believe you meant 50% compensation and 50% impracticality
Yeah, you will get noticed in these trucks for sure. Kinda looks like a giant gasser truck. Thanks Jay.
I was hoping you were going to ask him if he ever paid the painter that did the body and paint. Last i heard he hadnt.
He didn't pay for the work? How did you know? Just curious
I also want more on this story. Gotta look out for a fellow painter
Just checked his Google reviews, yeah somebody did mention that he didn't pay the painter.
What a cheat.

damn straight, Bubba!!
Nice to see RTech get some big name exposure/support.
I want a Texas Longhorn in the 72 Chevy body but with the GM grille and custom undercarriage/interior. Finally a crew cab 67-72 body. Favourite truck style ever.

Wow those builds are beautiful. Not exactly what I would do... But it's pretty damn impressive! I'm not quite half way through, but I cannot even IMAGINE what they charge for one of those. Definitely 6 figures, obviously...
Don't think I'd be willing to pony up that type of dough for one of these... But impressive nonetheless! 👍🏼👍🏼

Hey Jay, I'm a big fan of both your comedy and your car show. I'm familiar with your very early days in the comedy biz. (I was an entertainer for many years and mixed a lot of comedy in with our music). I'm your age and have been a hot rodder all my life. In fact, my first car (at 16 yrs old) was a '67 Chevelle SS 396 4 spd…..and they got faster from there. Anyway....just wanted to tell you, you made all of us old codgers proud with this video....you know....driving along FOREVER with your left turn signal on!!!!!!! HAHAHA.....I know you'll get a lot of these comments but I HAD to add mine!
Amazing ride, I love the old Chevies so much, different world. Fantastic video!
I have been seeing a lot of your videos recently
For $200K+ you'd think the body chrome would line up on the yellow one. :(
The builder was trying to provide authentic GM quality.

I own a 2005 GMC diesel crew-cab, 4x4 pickup, so I can relate to this truck. They are very handy, versatile and rugged vehicles to operate. It's a fine machine. Trucks always are in style, and look good even if the paint is not very nice. The Cummins is a great motor. I wish GM offered a Cummins diesel option for their trucks. The Duramax I have is still running very well with over 350K miles, but the Cummins is just a better diesel design. This R-tech guy does really nice work,
The Cummins sounds so good
I'm thinking if Shaquille O'Neal sees one of these he'll have to own one.
ghogue61 same with Arnold Schwarzenegger!
The blinker tho 😂😂😂 that with lane hopping had me cracking up. Awesome truck love this channel for all the Kool rides
They Did too Build Crew Cab Trucks as service trucks for the Rail Road, Road & Street depts in county government, my Brother had a 1974 1 ton Crew Cab 454! Rare but they are around!
I remember watching Lassie when I was a kid and his dad the forest ranger had a four door dodge pickup and that was the early sixties.
Yes the '70's trucks are common. They did not build them in the '60's.
I have a 72 1 ton Dully Crew Cab! If anyone wants to check it out I will provide the SN#
73-87 in cclb form isn't really rare around here (western MD) although a cclb 4x4 seems to be
Yes but probably not with a long bed
I believe the 66 Chevy 4×4 pickups were a NAPCO conversion... The only way you could get a 4x4 at that time....
No sir Mr. Barnard. The Dodge Brothers were building factory 4x4 Power Wagons in the '30's.
NAPCO and others were modding the GM and Fomoco stuff for years to give those brands an option for 4 wheel drive.
