  • Velocity Modern Classics is a low volume manufacturer along the lines of Singer Porsche, ICON, etc. They have a few models in production but the one we focused on in this episode is a Gen 1 Ford Bronco and it is magnificent! Still on it's original chassis everything else is pretty much replaced giving the looks of a mildly modified Bronco yet everything has been modernized to make for a daily drivable Coyote powered Bronco so sit back and enjoy the ride...

Sadly, the bronco name isn't an off roader anymore. The classic ones are too precious to scratch and the new ones are status symbols. Guys around my town are selling their heavily modded, hole in the floorboards, sat in a yard for 18 years cars for 12-23k because of the lineage. that's borderline extortionate. Dealers are no better with selling the electronics package taint tickler slap yo gramma multi-badge exclusive dark horse-hawk hemi turboqueef off roading suspension edition for double the original MSRP.

When I heard the sticker price and saw vinyl interior I nearly choked, but as a recovering upholsterer (see what I did there?) I know the new Naugahyde materials and others at marine grade level are superior products and likely best suited for this vehicle if you really plan to use it for what it's designed to do. That proprietary exhaust completely alters and disguises the fact that the Coyote powerplant lurks beneath the hood. This is a classy classic.

I wish you would have taken it off-road! Cool truck! I own a 1972 Bronco and that one puts mine to shame, but of course I still love mine. Mine has a crate engine from Ford Racing 340hp carbeurated, so that one is definitely cooler. I have the manuel 3 speed which I don't think I would give up just because you can roast the tires with the manuel whereas the automatic doesn't provide enough torque to break the tires it looks like. The manuel can rev up to get the extra torque needed. All in all a fine truck. Just a little pricey, so guess this is niche for the wealthy. I'll just have to make mine as cool as I can.

It’s a beautifully done Bronco. You did ask about supply. There has to be a limit to available original chassis at some point in time.
I’m surprised that someone hasn’t done something similar to MST over in the UK. They supplied all the replacement panels for mark 1 and mark 2 escorts. Then they decided to scratch build cars. They can’t call it a Ford, or an Escort, so it’s just called an MST Mk1, or Mk2. They don’t have classic vin’s, so it is built as a kit car, or from them, a new build.

I love this vehicle and the company itself seems really serious, especially with how standardised everything is, however I'd like to point out a few things that I wouldn't be happy with as a customer:
1: for $270k (most of them go for more than that) the paint shouldn't have orange peel. A nice polishing / detailing from the factory would be appreciated.
2: the leather shouldn't be an option, at least not on surfaces that aren't just trimmed for aesthetic reasons (I'm talking about the seats, armrests, etc.) Also, I understand that the Bronco should be something rugged and tough, but I'm not really fond of the rhino-lined looking metal interior pieces that have sharp edges. It just doesn't seem right in a vehicle that, once again, goes for somewhere in the neighbourhood of $300k.
