    What a champ! After a difficult phase, Iga took some time to recover and reset. And while she wasn't super convincing in the previous matches, I love how she was able to deliver her very best performance of the week in the most important match. She crushed Sabalenka tactically, but most of all mentally. She was so calm, totally unfazed by Sabalenkas crushing winners. She clearly had a gameplan, and I think it was more or less: "Yes, I knew you would hit some winners, good for you. But I also know if I keep the ball in play and keep you busy, you're going to use more and more brute force and ultimately make more errors than winners." You could literally see Sabalenka unravel before your eyes. I hope in the next encounter with Rybakina, Iga won't be as mentally unstable as she was recently.

    • @Malgosia44
      @Malgosia44 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      In their last encounter Iga was playing with a rib injury, which, of course, does not take away from the fact, that Rybakina is an excellent player and could have won anyway, injury or no injury.

    Watching the victory ceremony, initially I thought: well, that's quite an improvement by Sabalenka from a year ago. Back then, after she lost the final to Świątek, she acted as if everyone in Stuttgart had offended her by denying her a victory in the final; she even threatened not to grace the victory ceremony there if she lost in the final again. This time around, despite the defeat, she was grinning and joking, and acting quite graciously. But then... not a word of congratulation to the champion in her speech? Aryna, I hope that later, when you were listening to Iga praising you in her own speech (even though she was the winner), you were not as much relishing her words as taking a lesson of sportsmanship from her.

      O FFS.. all of you just stop inventing drama where there is none! She absolutely did congratulate Iga and her team, at the beginning of her speech, but the audience were so loudly applauding still that it was hardly heard. Iga heard it, and acknowledged it. Her jokingly smashing of the car was an innocent act of sarcasm done with a huge grin on her face that obviously flew right by some people's heads. I loved it. Loved everything about it. She's in a much healthier headspace than when starting her career and especially when compared to last year, which makes her matches that much more enjoyable and her off court behaviour equally fun.. And her game is strong and beautiful. Iga - Aryna matches always a treat. Let's appreciate both of these talented girls while we can ✌️

      That’s the difference between Iga and Sabalenka. During presentation, you need to speak atleast 3-4 sentence or 30 seconds about the opponent. But Sabalenka just said Congrats Iga. That was harsh. But Iga in turn spoken a lot about Sabalenka victory in Australian open and her success this year. Sabalenka lack class.

      Iga is the more complete player. She has speed and power, can attack, defend, and counter. Though Sabalenka and Rybakina are similar, Rybakina is the more clinical of the 2. Sabalenka seems to rely too much on overpowering her opponents.

    it is interesting that these highlights mostly show spectacular shots by Sabalenka, with the announcer gasping with amazement, but then when the camera returns to the next point, we see that Iga is ahead in the set, and in fact dispatches her in straight sets. There is no doubt that these two are the WTA's very best, and both still so young (Iga turns 22 in a month, Aryna turns 25 in a fortnight). I liken Sabalenka to a baseball slugger a la Babe Ruth, very dangerous when she is consistently hitting home runs; whereas Iga seems more like a Ted Williams figure, totally well-rounded game, hitting for high average but also capable of power when necessary. So many fine WTA players these days -- when Paula Badosa is only #31, you know how deep the field can be. This continuing clay season should be amazing.

      No (why in the world would the WTA be biased against its #1 player?), they just like to show big winners in the highlights, which doesn't give you the story of the match at all. These vids be so much better if they showed important points too, not exclusively points ending with winners.
      TennisTV does a much better job for the men. I wish the WTA would let them do the women's tournaments too.

    Well-deserved title from Iga SWIATEK!!! solidifying her defending championship status throughout 2 years is really a gigantic progress for Iga. She has embarked on the most accurate strategy in order to vanquish Aryna in this final encounter. The most viable plan has been formulated in the most critical phases in order to subdue Sabalenka physically. Moreover, Iga has demonstrated a more robust, perseverant and steadfast performance than Belarusian competitor throughout the whole showdown. That's why she has deserved to attain such an immense championship. Many congratulations to my second favorite female tennis competitor, wishing herself good luck in the other WTA tourneys before RG2023 within the clay court season.
