Awesome catches and great horn action!!! It’s a good thing Amtrak’s F59PHI locomotives can continue their useful service lives with Chicago Metra and not be scrapped entirely....but has anyone noticed that Metra recently took away the streamlined side skirts that covered the fuel tanks from some of the F59s? Why did they do that? It’s funny too that commuter railroads Metrolink and Coaster did that same thing with their F59PHI locomotives too....why is that? But still another great video Spencer!!! :)
I really wish the Amtrak Surfliner F59PHI’s we’re still running in California in Los Angeles but it’s good to see them that metra is taking good care of them
And fun fact that metra f40ph 215,216,217 were once amtrak locomotives but they were sold to Virginia railway express and music city star commuter before finally ended up with metra , metra really likes f40ph they have the largest fleet of them from what i saw they never get rid of them in fact they are willing to take the f40s of commuters that stopped using their f40phs but at one point In time they will retire from metra service which is sad but true
Wait why did metra got the f59phi's from the amtrak surfliner and cascades but not the bay area f59phi's you can tell the difference between the metra f59phi if its from surfliner the axle area would be black if its the cascades then the axles would be brown so if metra did purchase the f59phi from the san Francisco Bay area they make the difference that the one from surfliner and bay area that the bay area still has the EMD steel bell but the surfliner(and cascades) would have e-bells

I think they wanted more design
10:10 have you ever seen a kcs locomotives in Chicago

Yeah
It feels good to see Metra again. ;)
Great to see the old surf liners being used again! Such beautiful locos!
I’m glad Metra fixed up one of the F59PHI horns before they bought them from the Pacific Surfliner of Amtrak.
217 P5 air horn is very loud.
Great vid Spencer
At least they (partially) fixed the squeal on the F59PHis. But I miss them on the Surfline
I still miss Former/Ex-Amtrak F59PHI
5:56 pretty long
Pretty good catches + The deer crossed the tracks at the end
Cool you’ve been uploading longer than I was even born
Ur TH-cam Pucture looks like ur in ur 20’s and he has been Uploading for about 5-7 Years.
Nice Video
CP red caboose with no windows or door? No occupants? What’s the point?
Probably there so conductors have a platform to stand when the train shoves. The Caboose went obsolete long ago when air brakes became a thing.
Great catches
The heritage Metra train catch was probably the best one
There’s a tornado warning in this area

The Little Red Caboose!
Awesome
Hello
the metra coaches is the same size of the locomotive
They still have the Amtrak livery
At 13:34 was it a p5 or k5la?
That’s a K3LA.

Nice
The F59s are former Amtrak
Great work!
What state do metro trains run in? Nice video!
Illinois & Thanks!
Glad you catched a CP manifest with KCS
Looks like it’s a race 0:51
What exact camera of yours did you use to record this?
nice i love ya'.
Nice train 🙂👍
they should paint the coaches like the F59PHI Amtrak donated to Metra streamliner style
They are getting new coaches in 2025 and metra did repaints 2 of the f59phi locos. An ex surfliner and ex cascade
Metra should buy some of the Gp50 speeders. Those things were fast and reliable
Yeh I miss the f59phi coming and going from San Diego
🥺🥺🥺🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🤩🤩🤩
Too bad 217 got it’s K5LA replaced, tho it’s still cool that it’s an ex Amtrak F40
9:34 My Fav SHOT
[I bet your not gonna reply to this] Love your video's!, been watching them for a while

No metra train
N
You have everything in your house that you have made in my house
Shut up no one likes you
first clip metra copied amtrak superline
Metra bought it, and if metra did not buy the surfliner it would have been scrapped.
