I’m a metal head. Saw Metallica 3 times in concert. For a long time I’d been so bored with the music scene. Then I came across bts and they made me appreciate other genres of music because they’re so aggressive with it! I’m an Army for 2 years now, and still a metal head lol. Their EDM tracks were what converted me in the beginning: Not Today, Dope and Fire. Rock vibes I fuck with are: Fake Love (rocking version) and Dionysus (live performance). Looking forward to see your journey man. Enjoyed your reactions so far.

If he wants a rounded view of what they're all capable of as a group, it'd probably be better to react to something that involves all of them. And then after that take a look at the separate vocal line and/or rap line songs. I'll second the other commenter that House of Cards is a better showcase of the singers' vocals, though.

Thats how biases are made 😂 you picked J-Hope in Idol and you picked him in here even he has totally different style in mic drop 😂

  • @Quinn-kg5gt
    @Quinn-kg5gt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +237

if you liked Mic Drop, check out Fire next. the rap line has some songs specific to them, so if you want to hear more of them, you'll want to go for the Cyphers (1-4, my favorites are 2 and 4), Outro:Tear, and Ddaeng. If you want the vocal line, The Truth Untold.
As far as what 'represents their music best', you're gonna be hard pressed to find any one thing they stick to. they started out as a hip-hop group, but they've branched into and touched on multiple genres (pop- boy with luv, DNA, dope; EDM/club- mic drop, not today; reggaeton- blood sweat & tears; etc) as the years have gone by. they've looked at genre boxes and essentially gone "naahhhh we're good", by this point.
for live performances i don't have as much to recommend bc i haven't seen as many, but--'make it right' on the late show is a great chill song that shows off their vocals when they're not dancing at the same time, 'IDOL' on the tonight show, and 'boy with luv' on SNL are all ones i've seen and are fun to watch. it's worth noting that out of all of them, jungkook--the one you pointed out as having a 'deep voice' near the end of this video, which is funny bc he's usually singing in tenor or falsetto--has the most stable voice when dancing.

    • @WonderingWildWanderingRose
      @WonderingWildWanderingRose 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I would have suggested actual concert or award shows/showcases for live performances instead of the talk shows (though Make it Right, seated, without choreography certainly highlights the singing. But still, their live performances have so much energy, and the talk shows don't really allow their full expression, imo.

For a vocal-heavy MV, I'd suggest either Spring Day, which was inspired by Urusula Le Guin's short story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas," or Save Me, which was all filmed in one shot.
For live performances, I'd suggest the Dionysus comeback, which is their most rock-heavy song. And when you're ready to see their funny/pure joy side, the Go Go (Hearts) live performance shows off the cute side of their personalities.
Now for my recs (because no ARMY can pass up a chance to rec our favorites):
When you're ready for drama/cinematic videos: Not Today, Fake Love, and Blood Sweat and Tears are all glorious.
Also, I usually recommend BTS newbies watch the Dope MV and Baepsae dance practice, because they are fun, show off all of their different skills, have killer choreo, and somehow also manage to put in amazing messaging/lyrics.

    • @WonderingWildWanderingRose

  • @foxyjambread3826
    @foxyjambread3826 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Their dancing is actually one of the things that first snagged my attention - they're super sharp and clean and they hit everything so damn hard it actually makes my limbs ache a little in sympathy. In a lot of their choreo you can see how much tension they keep in their bodies while they dance (kind of exhausting to watch, but it's so good). If you watch their dance practices, you'll get an even better sense of how synched up they are and how hard they go. I'm actually currently working on learning the Mic Drop choreo (MAMA DB version) - it's intense, and I'm nowhere near as good as they are...but I'm working on it!
This is late, so you probably won't read this at all omg, but if you're gonna watch live performances, you've gotta do House of Cards (vocal line) and Cypher Medley (rap line). For more of the vocal line, I suggest solos like Epiphany, Stigma, Lie, Serendipity, Euphoria, etc. Literally I could put every solo the vocal line does here. Also, from Map of the Soul: Persona, Mikrokosmos and Jamais Vous are easily my favorites and they have some of the prettiest vocals I've heard in ages. Mikrokosmos is a really special song for me - I listen to it when I'm particularly stressed or anxious or feeling very small. It's just a very joyful song that makes me feel all overflow-y and ripple-y, but in a good way.
And I'm pretty sure Jimin and JK, at least, could kick all our asses...they've both got martial arts training.
Also, as a multifan, I'm contractually obligated to beg you to react to more of EXO's stuff - might I recommend Love Shot, Call Me Baby, Wolf (live, of course), and maybe some stuff like the live vocal compilations people have put together (a lot of them favor the high notes pretty extensively, but some manage to appreciate
Also also, and I don't wanna be weird or anything, but I couldn't help but notice that you have really pretty eyes? So...good for you, I guess???

Fellow Metal fan here who was converted by BTS. Nightwish was the best concert I had ever been to until my first BTS concert. They made me love rap, hip hop, r&b, neo soul and more. Between all their talents and taste, they cover a lot of styles and genres. Basically their lyrics are what really brought me around because I connected with their music.
    For live performances check out:
    - Dionysus on Mnet
    - Melon Music Awards 2018 performance
    - Born Singer' live (with eng subs cause the lyrics are important here)
    - Make it Right on Steven Colbert
For other songs in different styles:
    - Airplane 2 (Latin beat but video is Japanese version of song)
    - Blood Sweat and Tears (bit of reggaeton beat in there)
    -Not Today (good fighting anthem)
    - Spring Day (and Spring day explained by a Korean if you really want to dig deep into the theorized meaning of the song)
    - FIRE (because it's just pure 🔥)
    - Cyphers 1, 2, 3 & 4 (just rappers - my personal favorite is Cypher 2)
    - House of Cards (very jazzy)
Try some of their solo stuff if you want a taste for their individual styles:
    Rappers:
RM - Joke, Do You, Trivia:Love
Suga - AgustD, The Last (hold on to your seat for the last it's a very emotional song),
    J-Hope - Baseline, Hansang, Daydream
    Vocalists:
    Jin - Epiphany, Awake
    Jimin - Lie, Promise
Taehyung - Stigma (find a live version), Winter Bear, Scenery
Jungkook - Euphoria, Begin (Jungkook also has DOZENS of covers on Soundcloud)
Sorry I meant to just write one sentence and my fingers got away with me lol!
    감사함니다!

To get to know the members better I highly recommend the video "Who is BTS? the seven members of bangtan". Not only you'll be able to know their names, a bit of their story but also a little bit of their personality and roles they do in the group.
If you want to react to more vocal songs I suggest you to check out the vocal line songs:
    - The Truth Untold
    - House of Cards
    - Dimple
For all member songs that are more vocal:
    - Crystal Snow (it's sang in Japanese though)
    - Tomorrow
    - Hold Me Tight
If you want to react to rap songs:
    - Outro: Tear
    - Ddaeng (with explanation by DKDKTV , believe me... you'll need one to get the lyric masterpiece it is)
    - Cyphers (there are 4 at the moment)
Also I have a hunch that you'd like Suga's solo song from his personal mixtape (he goes under name Agust D with his personal stuff) especially song called "Agust D".

Lol. We don't play games! Reactors are all different. We ARMY just love to have new people put on to our boys.
So for vocal line, I suggest House of Cards live in Brazil and the Truth Untold.
Also, for Idol, watch Idol explained by a Korean by DKDKTV's channel.

It's crazy how you could tell in the IDOL vid that Yoongi/Suga had a lisp, I never realized it gave a unique quality to his rapping
Also, you're right, I know nothing about rap (or dance for that matter, but everyone can tell they're hardworkers and you're right on their fight-style dance) but I can tell that they CAN rap, this is not just the standard boygroup rap. This goes hard and I enjoy it every time.

The first rapper j-hope and his part, he almost always writes his own verses and here of course in Mic Drop he has also writing credits. Most of the time he has a sic flow :-) and you are right his voice is really unique, I like it a lot. Overall his rap style is quite unique, his strength is versatility and musicality, because he can also sing. J-hope was a driving force in making this song, confirmed by RM in his vlive, when he was talking about making the whole album.

You should react to the "Cypher medley live" witch is the rap line responding to their haters. It's agressive and crazy. But you can react to the Cyphers 1-4 lyrics too and Ddaeng, but there's only lyrics videos or lives. Mic drop is the ending of their response to the haters. BTS has a hip hop background but they are versatile. You Can react to "Dyonisus, comeback" too, as you like metal and the dancing. Enjoy our boys but don't forget to put the captions on when you watch a MVs, their lyrics matters too. But before you should learn more about them, they are such cool dudes, humbles and funny.

You've noticed that they all being something different to the group , that's exactly what they're doing.
Each of the seven members have a special role and have their specific thing.
I found that so interesting when I first got into then, not one of them are a liability, they have a tremendous teamwork.
Bts are extremely versatile, if you listen to their discography, you'll find rap songs, ballads, edm, r&b, pop and a lot more.
They have one of the most versatile discography in kpop, and one of the best of you ask me, but you can judge that for yourself.
There's nothing not to like about this guys, they're very talented

this is always one of my favourite videos for people to react to, the lyrics are such a flex lol, but yes their songs usually have a lot of meaning behind them and have more vocals....except this one. Would watch their boy with love Saturday night live performance or idol live at the MAMA awards for live stuff as they are prob 2 of their best and not just of the songs you've heard. Great reactions btw!

Thank you for reacting to BTS again! Please don't listen to the person calling you fake! It's obvious that you are curious, open minded, and honest. As for confusing the members, don't worry about it. We've all been there and it takes some people longer than others. This is your second BTS video, we don't expect you to magically know them all lol. 💜😊

J-Hope is the guy at the beginning. for more of his voice I recommend songs from his mix tape, Hope World. Airplane, Baseline, Daydream, and Piece of Peace.
For more vocal-heavy tracks, The Truth Untold and House of Cards are vocal line only, but also recommend Just One Day.
For something a little different in style I think you might like both Dionysus and Look Here.
And as for anyone calling you “fake”, pay no mind. You’re invisible giant looks friendly, anyway. 👍

IMO, there’s no real right or wrong BTS mv. It irks me when people say shit like that. Honestly, liking anything for that matter begins with whether it attracts you enough. If it’s attracts you then welcome, if not 🤷🏻‍♀️. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for reacting! I think you would really enjoy exploring more of their content, from their other MVs to their dance practices, etc. It's great to see a reactor who actually focuses on the different aspects of their music.

You're in for a hell of a journey if you get into BTS. I'm a 31 year old metalhead/hardcore/post-hardcore fan but gave BTS a chance recently and it's been really satisfying musically. I'm still really surprised. They do multiple styles and perform with live bands often, the auto-tune is usually a stylistic choice for their dance songs. They write a lot their own stuff, but work with other really talented musicians. Their music and videos also follow a really interesting badass storyline, but you dont need to rush into that part yet.
If you keep going into BTS beyond the popular "singles" you won't be disappointed. 👍🍻

For all 7 boys' vocals, I'd say Make It Right (even their live performance on Stephen Colbert - it was absolutely beautiful), Crystal Snow, Baepsae, and Sea. For pure rap line, Cyphers 1-4 and Ddaeng. For pure vocal line, The Truth Untold and House of Cards. For live performances, I'd suggest the 2016 MAMA full performance, or 2018 MAMA's intro performance and Airplane pt2, or their full performance at the 2018 MMA (a 20 minute performance, but well worth the watch - it's spectacular). And just because it hit a huge milestone, I'd suggest Spring Day. It's achieved MMA's longest top charted song, at 130 weeks. It's a beautiful song, sad, but with a hopeful end. Their earlier work is also very heavily hiphop influenced, so No More Dream and N.O.
I'd suggest doing some lyric videos mainly so you get lyrics, but also, you get to see who is singing and their names. Also, BigHit, and the group themselves, support each of their solo careers as well, so every single one of the boys have solo tracks out there.
RM - rapper - Do You, Joke, Rap Monster, Forever Rain
Suga - rapper - solo identity Agust D (backwards is DT Suga - DT means Daegu town - his hometown) - The Last, Agust D, Give It To Me
    J-Hope - rapper - Daydream, Airplane pt 1, Baseline
Jin - vocalist - Tonight, Mom, I Love You
Jimin - vocalist - Lie, Serendipity, Promise
    V - vocalist - Winter Bear, 4 o'Clock, Scenery
Jungkook - vocalist - (lots of covers) 2U, Paper Hearts, Purpose, If You

I think most people will recommend The Truth Untold lyric video for the vocal line and Dionysus for the live performance. (Also for pure rap, for sure has to be Cyphers 1-4).
They have too many great songs to sit and choose; I genuinely like the majority of their songs, which never happens because, like you, I get bored and most artists stick to the same genre. As lots of ARMY have told you, BTS doesn't. You don't really get an 'overall feel' of them because they are so diverse. Lastly, any awards show performance is great to watch (best ones normally from their MAMA stages) and they will not disappoint - BTS, in my opinion, are 100% the best performers I've ever watched and always sing and rap live, which made me respect them from the beginning. I hope that, in time, you also watch the 'Who is BTS' video to get to know them. Loved the reaction, thank you!

I know there's a live performance of Home at the Muster but I can't remember if the mics messed up that one.

I recently started my adventure with BTS and quickly became ARMY. I recommend to see Who is BTS. Seven Members of Bangtan. Very helpful. For me, the best MV to start with is FAKE LOVE, NOT TODAY, FIRE, DOPE. live performances Memories 2017 BULLETPROOF 2, IDOL MMA 2018, Intro + FAKE LOVE + outro also MMA 2018, If you want to see them dance: SBS EXHIBITION PRACTICE and dance practice DANGER, BOY IN LOVE, FIRE, SILVER SPOON and many more. Each member also recorded solo songs. My favorites are Rap line songs: Suga AGUS D, RM Joke and DoYou, J-Hope AIRPLANE 1, Vocal line: Jimin LIE and SERENDYPITY, V SINGUARITY and STIGMA, Jin AWAKE, Jungkook EUPHORIA and BEGIN. And this is just the beginning. Remember to watch MV to the very end. Sometimes there is a surprise. I join your journey with BTS and hope to welcome you soon as ARMY.

5:26 YES! My boys can rap!
The BTS rap line consist in three members:
    - *RM* : The leader of the group and Main Rapper, before BTS he was on the underground scene, as a solo he has two Mixtapes RM (2015) and Mono (2018) as well as many collabs songs with others artists. Known for his extense use of wordplay, his name is on the credits of all bts songs.
    - *Suga* : Started as an Underground rapper as well, enter to the company BigHit as a producer but ended up in BTS, has a Mixtape Agust D (2016) and has collab with others as a producer and a Rapper. Known for his "Tongue technology" ( extremely fast rapping )
    - *J HOPE* : The voice that you like. Was a street dancer before BTS and started rapping after joined the group, his style is a melodic rap. It's the dance/performance leader and a sub-vocalist. has a Mixtape: Hope World (2018) and a song 1Verse (2015). Known for his use of sounds while rapping (and speaking) like the "clap clap" you pointed out 12:10
their styles are very different but they complement each other perfectly!

8:05 In the last video you talked about individuality a now you're metioning it again and I really agree with you!
BTS' music in general shows how they always try to incorporate things that would make every member satisfied with the songs, they started as a hip hop group almost led just by the rappers but quickly entered into new genres to include everyone's preferences and also they have solo songs included on BTS' albums (as well as their solos projects apart of the group) to have the freedom to create something that shows this individuality

I've loved various genres of rock from Buddy Holly to Ozzy to Linkin Park, and became Army about 2.5 years ago. BTS doesn't play by the "genre" game, so they've been helping me expand my tastes a bit. But some of my favorites of the more aggressive variety are Ddaeng, Baepsae and the title track from "Persona." Give them a listen when you get a chance!

Love that you found our sunshine to be your bias, that's jhope and he's apart from being an amazing rapper a great vocalist. He's very well known for his flows as he changes them a lot through the verses and it's very versatile.

For me, personally mic drop (remix) is the perfect introduction song for BTS, bc it’s just “mainstream” enough for English speaking listeners. But just like every song they have, it’s quite deep. Bighit the company is very intentional. And the lyrics, choreography, it’s all intentional. Mic drop is kinda like a cypher 5, they have a cypher series where they respond to their haters (which if your new you might think everyone loves them, but they actually had a lot of resistance from other artists, Korean and otherwise, and even other companies and their country)
My suggestion, and trust me we like longer reactions, is to watch an MV, watch the corresponding dance practice, then watch a lyrical video.
Also Steve did the remix but the Original version is almost the same, Steve just added in some more English parts and a slight remix. He did not produce this track, the members along with the in-house producers did this track.
I reallly liked your reaction 💜

Best of Me live is phenomenal. And their new song Heartbeat is a great vocal piece (and a BEAUTIFUL video). The rapper you liked was Hoseok (J-Hope). He's incredibly versatile. His tone is unique but he's a sub-vocalist and he has great musicality so he has a wide range of tones and flows but it's all distinctly J-Hope.
It'll take time to tell them apart, no worries. :) We appreciate the effort you're putting in to trying though! I hope you'll keep reacting to BTS! There's honestly so much to see. Also, if you like aggressive, Outro:Tear by the rap line really makes your blood pump. And Dionysus has a rock-y mosh-pit vibe too. Hip-hop is at the core of what they do but their early stuff in particular is very hip hop. I recommend Baepsae. Anyway, I'm enjoying your reactions! I subscribed and am hoping for more!

Ah man, you want aggressive, watch a live performance of Dionysus. The rappers have 4 Cyphers, and they are intense... and a song called Outro:Tear. On the other hand, we've got practically heavenly vocals from the singers like House of Cards and Truth Untold. Some songs showcase both the rap and vocals extremely well like HOME, Fake Love, I'm Fine, DNA, Butterfly, Spring Day. I should stop, that's a lot. My point is, they do lots of different kinds of music, and we can see even more variation in their solo stuff ranging from super soft to extremely hard... there's something for everyone.

Watch “Who is BTS” to get a hang of who is who and to get a little bit of info on who they are individually. And you should definitely listen to Dionysus the LIVE performance. It’s very aggressive and one of the most hardcore choreos!

The first thing that made me stan them is their dance then their rap then everything follows haha. 2 (RM and SUGA) out of the 3 rappers came from the underground hip hop and that's why they have this distinct rap style if you compare it to other kpop rap. And JHope with the guidance of suga and rm, learned how to rap. They were planned to debut as a hip hop group but the ceo decided to debut them as kpop group.

The best introduction video out on youtube is Who is BTS?: The Seven Members of Bangtan. As for a more vocal driven song you should react to Fake Love next! its got more of a rock vibe but I think you'll like it. As you can read in the other comments, BTS has pretty much done every genre out there so its hard to pinpoint their "sound".. but that's what i love about them. Glad you're gonna be doing more bts reactions & can't wait to watch!

Hey, just found your channel! A few things:
    1) Start with whatever songs you want. It's music, enjoy.
    2) There is no single song nor album that will tell you what kind of music BTS does, they change it up frequently (my favorite thing about them).
    3) Don't know what intro you're going to watch but I like this one: th-cam.com/video/Ac8J8iC3FX4/w-d-xo.html
It has a lot of more recent song clips than other intros.
    4) Ecstatic that you highlighted how the rap line switches up their flow on the regular. It's a detail many rappers no longer pay attention too.
    I'm subscribing!

Love your reaction. Mic Drop was what hooked a lot of people. LOL. Their cyphers (1-4) and a few others that are songs from the rap line are fairly aggressive too, as well as a few other.... They have caught a lot of crap over the years and people talking smack against them and they are always respectful and professional in the public eye and then take that aggression and answer back musically.... and their lyrics are typically much deeper than the surface.
Bugs bunny shirt is J-Hope who started the song out... 😊. He is our sunshine. He didn’t rap until he joined BTS but I love his flow and tone.... RM (came out of the ambulance) and Suga (swapped out with J-Hope) and burned the paper are both from the underground rap scene who were criticized for joining an “IDOL” group.... I love their edge and grit and unique tones.... they helped mentor Hobi (J-Hope) as he developed his own style.....
Live performances.... Mic Drop is a great one.... especially from award shows and the Wembley Stadium concert this past June..... something with more of a rock edge with great choreo is Dionysus....
There is also a live Cypher Medley performance from 2017if you want to see it.... I love it.... most Live performances do not have subtitles..... do NOT use auto subs from YT with these guys..... baaaaaaad idea... 😂😂😂. Thanks for reacting to more BTS!

For a more calm song I would suggest Spring Day.
And for the live performance: They are always awesome live but I especially recommend their permormance on the melon music awards 2018 (fake love, airplane pt 2 and idol)

Another comment for you to read or skip 😉 Just so you know, this song has version with Designer. There is no video, but it is on the album. Also there is Original version also no MV, it is only on album, but there is really dope comeback performance. They are freaking amazing, and worth watching. BTS takes song to another lvl when they perform live. No joke, you will see it for yourself.😁
You need to react to Dionysus for sure if you fan of aggressive sound. There is no MV, but their comeback performance is freaking amazing.

Live performance - my vote is for Dionysus as well! If you like the rap line - their Cyphers 1 to 4 are amazing diss-tracks. DDaeng is one of my faves too. Vocal line standouts include Fake Love and Blood, Sweat and Tears (ngl this is my fave song overall). Dope and Fire are awesome too, and Boy with Luv is a pop banger. But really, I have yet to listen to a BTS song that I don't like. They're all great for various reasons.

Don't worry too much, a lot of international fans take a bit to learn faces to names. After all, different races physically have different identifying features that they get use to recognizing, so it can take a bit to pick up different identifiers. We ARMY are just happy to see someone else discovering BTS for themselves!

Omg I am so happy you did Mic Drop, it's my personal favourite!!! Um, the first rapper was J-hope, he was the one in the bugs bunny shirt. The guy in the middle of the second chorus was V, he was the one with the glasses and heart shirt. And 3rd rapper was RM, he was the blue haired guy. And Idol has an explanation vid by DKDKTV.
Mic Drop is actually a diss track for haters. If you want more rap: check out the Cyphers 1-4 or Cypher medley live.
Hmmm, for maybe slower songs there's Spring Day, with also an explanation video. For another type of song, Fake Love, which is a really great song and video and almost has zero green screen effects. For live performances, oh no, too many great ones, but maybe MAMA 2018 full performance to start with?
Again, thank you so much for this reaction!!! 💜💜💜 Subscribed already when you did Idol.
