First time watching fake love JHopes part: candy 😃😀 Army: 😭😭😭 Little backstory: BigHit MVs for BTS that have “BU Content” in their description, relate to the alternative universe. I won’t spoil everything on you bc it’s a reaction in itself if you decide to dive deeper. But i will give you JHopes since he’s ya boy. The AU characters are their real names so JHopes character is Jung Hoseok. He was abandoned by his mother when he was little at an amusement park, she told him to close his eyes and count and left him a candy bar and then disappeared. So the teaser shows the boys trading in their “fears” at the Magic Shop- Hoseok trades a candy bar. Hoseok suffers from Narcolepsy as well, and even goes in an out of hospital. So the candy bar relates to his fear (being left alone) and him falling and disappearing into the candy and relate to his narcolepsy which he medicated in order to control. Armys spent years trying to figure out the story lines, with many wrong conclusions. Lucky bighit teamed up with webtoons and put out a comic book series of the story line last February. You are spot on for the meaning for the lyrics of Fake Love, ultimately any love that doesn't start with loving one's self is Fake Love. If one is willing to change themself for someone else, they must not love oneself. The Music Video is about being consumed by traumas that each of the *Characters* suffer from. Hi, just to share there is some degree of CGI but the essence & main portion is still realistic. :) ... for Suga's portion, there is the actual fire but it was actually smaller (as seen on the makings of the MV). They had to do post production/CGI to make the fire look much bigger (Well fire that size is probably too dangerous considering how close to the fire Suga & the crew are at, which I believe all ARMYs are ok with this CGI then to put BTS or the crew in danger.) :) ....

BTS will do rock or guitar versions of their songs, either live or remixes. They do a rock remix with a live band on staGE of DNA at the 2017 KBS Song Festival. it's on YT, and a "Pedal to the LA" mix on the album (lyrics vid avail). For Spring Day I dunno why but I prefer the normal version. I’ve been into BTS for almost almost 2 years now and every now and again when I actually hear guitars in their music I get really excited (sometimes I’m focused on everything else that I don’t hear in detail the music)

Great reaction, as usual... but this one is probably my favorite. Totally agree with your assessment of the two versions of the song. Since you asked, the reason you don't really understand the video is because this is later on in their MV storyline. The water in Jimin's scene, fire in Suga's, candy in j-hope's, etc., are all manifestations of their storyline characters' traumas. I hope you watch the whole storyline someday. I recently started getting into it (there's also a web comic...) and watching this MV now is so much more moving.
Fake love is hands down my favorite BTS music video, the visuals are just incredible. The fact that all of the MV is real, no CGI, just practical effects on set. I give these guys props!

I absolutely love your reactions! You really got a good grasp on the meaning of this individual song, but to understand the video more fully, there is a lot of previous media in the BTS storyline that you would have to watch in a certain order. Starting with the 19+ version of I Need U, Prologue, and Run. Then the WINGS Short films (one for each member) followed by each of their solos on the WINGS album. This whole album was inspired by the book Demian, including the title track, "Blood, Sweat, and Tears". The order of the Short films and Solos is: Jungkook- Begin, Jimin- Lie, V- Stigma, Suga- First Love, RM- Reflection, JHope- Mama, Jin- Awake. That should be a good start into the BTS universe. There is also a theory video by xCeleste explaining the whole storyline, but it makes much more sense if you have seen the other pieces first. Good luck not falling all the way into the hole! Like others have said, this is one of the songs linked by the storyline in this era of BTS' music. But the beauty of BTS music is that the songs have their own secondary meanings that you can get into, even if you are unaware of the storyline. Fake Love is basically saying you can't truly love someone if you don't first love yourself; it's not love if you lose yourself in the other person to the point that you can't recognize who you are any more, that is fake love. And it shows various stages of depression/breakup agony - self destruction, drowning in sorrows (and candy), obsession with texts, pictures, social media, needing to be saved from all of it, letting yourself be burned by the flame. There is also the repeated image of see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil - in the giant hand statue, the choreography, grabbing their ears, covering their mouths, etc.

exactly! that's how i spend my first year knowing BTS! i watched all their MV, blogs, dance practices, live performances, concerts, guestings, behind tge scenes and everything about BTS 24/7. i fell inlove and got obsessed with BTS instantly! then i started watching other people reacts to them and could really relate to most of their reactions and can't help but comment to share my own experience and opinion. yes, BTS choreography expresses the message and emotions of the song.
Fake love is about exactly what you said and you were right about the meaning of the masks, but also there is a lot of symbolism from their storyline in this MV. Suga and fire, jimin and water, V and phones, RM and reflections, jhope and snickers, jin and the flower, jungkook watching his hyungs, it's all part of the BTS universe that starts in the I Need U MV. The rabbit hole is real, bro. Coming in from the 90's alternative era, my staple was Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Silverchair, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Soundgarden... you get the picture. Amazed by your hearing ability... Dang, you are right, at the end..there are 2 pairs sing at the same time, V-Jimin, then Jungkook-Jin. I stumbled on your video after watch other artist, and I get what you mean with 'passion' behind the song. The other artist sing with a cluster of electronic synth music. I'm not say it's bad, but it feels to me like they decided one good sound and repeated it all from beginning to the end. In BTS music, the music feels like the result of deep think a whole night long contemplating what sound is good, which instrument should be used, and so on. Kudos to you, having Fake Love on repeat to not missing any of it.

this mv makes a lot more sense 1) if you watch the trailer for it as it has a prequel scene that is not in the video that shows the 'magic shop' idea the video is based on and 2) if you understand the imagery that comes from the story from earlier bts mvs that represents their characters' various traumas [water > jimin / fire > yoongi / candy(pills) > j-hope etc.]

The way I interpret the ending of the extended version, they got so tired of putting on a mask and not being totally themselves. They squashed the fake love mask because they realized they need to love themselves and be the real them from now on.

He was abandoned by his mother when he was little at an amusement park, she told him to close his eyes and count and left him a candy bar and then disappeared. So the teaser shows the boys trading in their “fears” at the Magic Shop- Hoseok trades a candy bar. Hoseok suffers from Narcolepsy as well, and even goes in an out of hospital. So the candy bar relates to his fear (being left alone) and him falling and disappearing into the candy and relate to his narcolepsy which he medicated in order to control.
Armys spent years trying to figure out the story lines, with many wrong conclusions. Lucky bighit teamed up with webtoons and put out a comic book series of the story line last February. You are spot on for the meaning for the lyrics of Fake Love, ultimately any love that doesn't start with loving one's self is Fake Love. If one is willing to change themself for someone else, they must not love oneself. The Music Video is about being consumed by traumas that each of the *Characters* suffer from. The Character Jin is consumed by a cacophony of sound, the whispers of authority figures. The Character Namjoon is consumed by the image of who he think he wants to be. The Character Jimin is consumed by water, both he fear and desire to drown, and desire to wash himself of the stains that don't actually exist on his person. The Character Yoongi is Consumed by the fires that claimed the life of his mother and his childhood home, and the fire which he tried to take his own life, The Character Hoseok, is consumed by the images of his child, the amusement park and candy bar from when the character's mother abandoned him. The Character TaeYoung is consumed by the inability to contact anyone who he can care about, His phone turns to dust, and phones are ringing, but he has no way to answer them. The Character of Jungkook, can only watch as his hyung go through what they do and is unable to intervene, until he is ultimately left alone. Until the character can accept and deal with these traumas as part of themselves, they will never be able to love themselves, and therefore will not be able to truly love someone else. It will all be Fake Love. Ultimately your analysis at the end scene is also spot on, due to their traumas and inability to accept themselves, have put on masks to face each other and the rest of the world and are crushed.

Hi, just to share there is some degree of CGI but the essence & main portion is still realistic. :) ... for Suga's portion, there is the actual fire but it was actually smaller (as seen on the makings of the MV). They had to do post production/CGI to make the fire look much bigger (Well fire that size is probably too dangerous considering how close to the fire Suga & the crew are at, which I believe all ARMYs are ok with this CGI then to put BTS or the crew in danger.) :) ....

Yes, I don’t normally listen to DNA, but I quite like the rock remix of it, I think it has a kind of retro late 80s/early 90s stadium rock feel to it. For Spring Day I dunno why but I prefer the normal version. I’ve been into BTS for almost almost 2 years now and every now and again when I actually hear guitars in their music I get really excited (sometimes I’m focused on everything else that I don’t hear in detail the music)

That’s what happened to me a few months ago when I first got into BTS by accident hahahhaha I was checking some Billie Eilish videos and Boy With Love just started playing. Great reaction, as usual... but this one is probably my favorite. Totally agree with your assessment of the two versions of the song. Since you asked, the reason you don't really understand the video is because this is later on in their MV storyline. The water in Jimin's scene, fire in Suga's, candy in j-hope's, etc., are all manifestations of their storyline characters' traumas. I hope you watch the whole storyline someday. I recently started getting into it (there's also a web comic...) and watching this MV now is so much more moving.

I absolutely love your reactions! You really got a good grasp on the meaning of this individual song, but to understand the video more fully, there is a lot of previous media in the BTS storyline that you would have to watch in a certain order. Starting with the 19+ version of I Need U, Prologue, and Run. Then the WINGS Short films (one for each member) followed by each of their solos on the WINGS album. This whole album was inspired by the book Demian, including the title track, "Blood, Sweat, and Tears". The order of the Short films and Solos is: Jungkook- Begin, Jimin- Lie, V- Stigma, Suga- First Love, RM- Reflection, JHope- Mama, Jin- Awake. That should be a good start into the BTS universe. There is also a theory video by xCeleste explaining the whole storyline, but it makes much more sense if you have seen the other pieces first. Good luck not falling all the way into the hole! Like others have said, this is one of the songs linked by the storyline in this era of BTS' music. But the beauty of BTS music is that the songs have their own secondary meanings that you can get into, even if you are unaware of the storyline. Fake Love is basically saying you can't truly love someone if you don't first love yourself; it's not love if you lose yourself in the other person to the point that you can't recognize who you are any more, that is fake love. And it shows various stages of depression/breakup agony - self destruction, drowning in sorrows (and candy), obsession with texts, pictures, social media, needing to be saved from all of it, letting yourself be burned by the flame. There is also the repeated image of see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil - in the giant hand statue, the choreography, grabbing their ears, covering their mouths, etc.

Amazed by your hearing ability... Dang, you are right, at the end..there are 2 pairs sing at the same time, V-Jimin, then Jungkook-Jin. I stumbled on your video after watch other artist, and I get what you mean with 'passion' behind the song. The other artist sing with a cluster of electronic synth music. I'm not say it's bad, but it feels to me like they decided one good sound and repeated it all from beginning to the end. In BTS music, the music feels like the result of deep think a whole night long contemplating what sound is good, which instrument should be used, and so on. Kudos to you, having Fake Love on repeat to not missing any of it.

this mv makes a lot more sense 1) if you watch the trailer for it as it has a prequel scene that is not in the video that shows the 'magic shop' idea the video is based on and 2) if you understand the imagery that comes from the story from earlier bts mvs that represents their characters' various traumas [water > jimin / fire > yoongi / candy(pills) > j-hope etc.]
Love your explaination on the lyrics and it's such a real life thing. The dance reminds me of a puppet being pulled by strings and I do believe that is deliberate.

The way I interpret the ending of the extended version, they got so tired of putting on a mask and not being totally themselves. They squashed the fake love mask because they realized they need to love themselves and be the real them from now on.
don't worry....we've all faced that rabbit hole with BTS lol and I've watched plenty of people reacting to BTS too, it's definitely enjoyable and like you said, we can spend hours just doing that lol

I somehow never noticed the desperation in the movements but that is spot on. I always noticed the jerky movements but never put 2 and 2 together there.

I love both versions but I wish they’d kept the base from the original cuz it’s so rich and dark and I love it. It’s really cool whenever BTS decide to change the instrumentals and give us different versions of a song.
