Namjoon didn't really tone it down per say. He had a lot of anger piled up inside of him during that time and was also very confused about his identity as an artist. He took those emotions out in music and that's why so many of his songs back in the day are clearly filled with hate. Overtime he became more comfortable with himself and no longer feels like he has to prove anything to anyone. He's creating music that brings comfort.

I really want DT to listen to RM's whole mixtapes in order. It will be helpful to understand how his thought has changed over the years.

    • @vmkoya4080
      @vmkoya4080 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Totally Agree! I think Namjoon has really come into his own. I would be cool if RM did make another hardcore Rap song. But I think also think when he did his first mixtape he had a lot of emotions that he needed to get out and a lot of that had to do with the hate he was getting, especially from people he didn't expect it him, people he considered friends. Also, being frustrated about his self-identity and what others thought about him.
Namjoon always amazes me at how he handle thoses first few yrs, and how much it took for him to stay the leader of BTS. But he has also credited his other members for being there to help him and support him as their leader. RM would not be here with out them and vice versa. They are a team and they know how to be one. With all the things the had to overcome I am glad they did give up, because they have helped so many people around the world and have become such a positive influence to many. I am always proud and excited of their many accomplishments.
PS: all the people who were calling Hobi untalented, ugly, and telling him to leave BTS are all haters. I didn't know anything about BTS during that time, but when I hear about it that always hurts. I am glad that his family, the members, and ARMYs were there for him. J-Hope is so talented and so attractive. I have so much love for all the guys.💜

Exactly. Like "boys being boys" being used as an excuse to tolerate men's disrespect towards women is bad BUT in this case, it totally applies because these are thoughts that run in boys' heads during that age. Girls reach an age where they tend to objectify boys or men too. It's all about knowing limits. Like war of hormones didnt even mention about eating them girls'p**** or wanting to make her scream in pleasure. Or how tasty the girl is. 🤷‍♀️ or that they gonna hit that, smack that, pound that etc. Juices overflowing and whatnot. Goodness

*They toned that Hip hop down because as they grew-- their stories and emotions changed. They reinvented themselves because their stories cahnged. It would be weird if Rm released a self-victimising mocking the haters track since their position has changed. He has started to find joy in the smallest things of life and he portrays that in his music. You want aggressive music, there was D2 By AGUSTD which was an emotional rollercoaster. Namjoon is a bonsai nurturing bike riding peaceful 27 year old now. Him changing has his music cahnging-- thats why people love bts. As they grew up, so did their themes to their songs*

They've matured and so will their approach to music, it's not them against the world anymore.

Bts started as a hip hop artists.. But they are not entitled to return back to their roots. Because they all have grown as artists.. when they feel comfortable they will put out tracks like ugh and cypher. These songs comes up according what they feels at the moment.. and disease is definitely a hip-hop funk based song.. and their old music still exists..

War of the hormones gets mentioned and that's what it counts, people have BTS in their lips and minds either plus or minus, their concept is quality above everything else. Every single song as group or solo will get people talking the more haters make the fans grow stronger and multiply because we get inspired from this group, and the song I'm a born singer is a statement to their vulnerability and we don't have other choice but to like them, even fall for them as a group, we think we like one or two of the boys but they are one body and they are proving that truly "we are bulletproof" it's their anthem.

Bang PD is such a good guide to BTS..
In the beginning years of BTS when they wrote lyrics and brought it to him (Bang PD) to be checked, he immediately gave them a hard pass and told them to rewrite it. It's because the lyrics were on the topic of stuff like "I have a car, my girl is blah blah" [i mean this is the type of hip hop songs they grew up with and they were influenced by] so he questioned them "do you even have a car? are you rich? write lyrics that YOU can write."

I have a feeling that if BTS ever release another hip-hop heavy based album/song, it'd be smt like UGH! Not in the sound, per se, but in the maturity.
However, I don't think they'll ever be able to go back to those sounds from their earlier days, bc that music was layered with the type of desperation that ppl of their age, or time in their lives, experience: as youths entering and figuring out the first steps of their adulthoods.
I really love how their music changes as the grow in experiences. Though, this does mean we really aren't ever sure what to expect from them (which is another aspect I enjoy about their music).
And I also like their more hip-hop heavy sounds too. One, bc it's one of my preferred musical genres AND two, bc as we're able to see their changes reflected in their music, seeing where they're at and how that differs from where they were, with this style of music, is just fascinating.

I personally think that War Of Hormone was more about them, getting affected by girls and all that raw, impulsive teenage sexual energy. In Butter, it was more about them, affecting girls, if you know what I mean. I definitely agree with the "mature" version. They are being, smoother, sexier and more laid-back with a subtle touch. Both songs are so amazing, to be honest. I still don't get what they got so much hate for War Of Hormone, they were being true to themselves and writing about what a normal teenage boy would feel. No crossing lines.

Regarding WOH, I can see why people, especially women, were aggravated by it. For some women it wouldn’t bother them but definitely for others it would make them feel objectified and lesser due to the tone of the song and how it makes it seem that the men wouldn’t look past anything but their bodies. It’s humiliating. What I’m happy about is how Bangtan acted after that, how they perceived that that emotion can be felt by some women who did feel that way due to their song, and they pursued in trying to fix the tone of their music, not just for themselves, but in order to help bring as many people up as they can through their music, not down. It’s so moving and beautiful and I am so glad to be able to have learned from them what true growth means. I’m glad they made that mistake in their music because it is a part of what make them such admirable people today, not due to the mistake itself but how they responded to it in years to come.

'Till today I still don't quite understand the thing with WOH...I do understand and respect the culture and mindset of the korean pg but I do feel BTS bear with a lot of hate back then not just for the controversy with WOH but many other things until today sadly, Namjoon is one of the wiser persons I've ever meet, still don't know how he was able to handle all that pressure by himself because even when the rest of the team support him he is the leader and have to just endure all this pressure...he is just and admirable human being, also DT have in mind now they are global superstars, you are right...he may tone it down a little but now he is much more mature and is showing his poetic and introspective side, personally I think this is the real him you know but any shape of form he and the guys decided to show in future projects and so on I am here for it... If they go back to their more rude, raw style the fandom and the entire world will just fell apart lol, tks DT for the reaction :)

I never took war of Hormone to be seriously picking at women… I thought it was more appreciative and surrounds the era of what boys think about women with their hormones progressing and growing ska puberty… I never took the meaning to be degrading or sexist like some have in the past…. Bts has never done anything to degrade their fan base which is mostly women populated men populated too but mostly women…. They’ve always strived to appreciate all of their fans through their music so to me war of hormone is more poking fun at the way women are perceived by society and by men in general! It’s one of my fav older songs and is still on my playlist for bts songs and constantly played and enjoyed when it comes on!

Butter and WOH? Hm... not really. Cause the lyrics are about "Look at me. I'm so cool. You all fall for me"?. WOH was more "I look at you. Your're so cool. I'll fall for you."

"You've gotta be careful these days" ... nah, I don't like that. War of Hormone is one of my favorite songs, cuz if you read the lyrics properly, you can see the message and intent. Its literally about hormonal Teena ge boys. It's meant to sound all bark, no bite. "Us boys just do em"...you can't translate Korwan to English and then attack based on an English translation. It doesn't have the same connotation. War of Hormone lyrics are honest and fun and I don't think they're objevtifying women, even though that was the argument. If you actually listen to the song, it's more than clear
That doesn't give anyone and everyone a free pass to objectify women and laugh about it. There is a problem of women being sexualized for existing in current media, and like, it isn't really funny. It's the "women fear violence, men fear ridicule" adage. So no, it's not about, "you have to be careful these days, boys"...female fans of bts are grateful that bts display sincere respect for women in their every action. It's not about "censoring yourself" for "today"

No offense but I think DT didn't mean what you thought. He said he still likes war of hormone, but in the video, we surely saw there were a lot of arguments for this song. And I remember once RM said that he is always asking supervision for his lyrics which he learned from the past. Whatever they do, everytime it's on news nowadays and the business behind stock & shareholders. that's why DT said "be careful these days". And I agree with him.
