Assalamualaikum, Niqab is not compulsory but hijab is
In quran one ayah is there where allah (swt) says to cover everything except what is apparent (clear) or what naturally appears which is hands and face. So a women can show her hands and face but if they want to be more modest they can wear niqab but they shouldn't be forced to.
The wives of the Prophet were indeed required to wear the niqab, This is because the special status they had meant they had to be kept clear from all gossip and slander.
Plus even prophet (pbuh) said never to cover hands and face when doing umrah and hajj
Think about it! It means niqab is not compulsory.
I haven't seen a single quran ayah or hadees saying that niqab is compulsory for a normal muslim female plus i won't believe a random sheikh. If you want to show that niqab is compulsory please show real proof like a hadees or quranic ayah or sayings by prophet (pbuh)

Islam is divided into four schools of thought and it is necessary to follow one (if you’re not a scholar).
If you have regular access to a scholar you may follow what they follow.
But if you are a scholar (aka someone who knows all schools of thoughts)
It’s not right for you to follow just one since you’ve studied all four you chose which school is best in whatever decision you’re making so end up following multiple schools

We should wear it from puberty but a lot of young girls are finding it hard so may Allah bless you. Ok so if your hijab covers your head, neck and chest area that's great! We shouldn't be wearing clothes that draw too much attention but wearing nice colours shouldn't be a problem as long as you're meeting the criteria for hijab. See what reputable scholars have said about the issue. :-)

Depending on your school of Fiqh, it varies! Many of the Early Scholars don't consider it to consetuate Awrah.
the Quran doesn't mention the face as part of the 'awrah' at all. The concept of 'awrah' has been elaborated upon and interpreted by scholars over time, the face is not awrah
According to Imam Abu Hanifa, the founder of the Hanafi school of jurisprudence, wearing the hijab, which covers the hair and body, is considered obligatory for women. However, he did not deem the niqab, which covers the face, as obligatory. Imam Abu Hanifa's stance was based on his interpretation of Islamic texts and principles, which emphasized modesty while allowing some flexibility in women's dress code.
Imam Abu Hanifa's opinions were derived from his interpretation of Islamic teachings, including the Quran and the Hadith. While there isn't a specific verse in the Quran where Imam Abu Hanifa explicitly mentions his stance on the obligation of hijab and the niqab, his jurisprudential rulings were based on his understanding of various Quranic verses and hadiths related to modesty and dress code.
One verse often cited in discussions of modesty is Surah An-Nur (24:31), where Allah instructs believing women to lower their gaze and guard their modesty, and not to display their adornments except what is apparent (such as the face and hands). Interpretations of this verse may vary among scholars and schools of thought.
Imam Abu Hanifa's legal rulings and interpretations were documented in his works and were passed down through generations of scholars within the Hanafi school. His opinions on the obligation of hijab and niqab are based on his scholarly understanding of Islamic sources and principles.
Imam Malik ibn Anas, the founder of the Maliki school of jurisprudence, is renowned for his contributions to Islamic law. While he emphasized the importance of modesty and decency in dress, his stance was not that of it being an obligation of niqab (face veil)
Scholars argue that Imam Malik's position was that hijab (covering the hair and body) is obligatory for women, but he did not require the covering of the face with a niqab. They base this interpretation on his writings and the practices prevalent in his time and region.
Ibn Hazm: An Andalusian Muslim scholar from the 10th century known for his contributions to various fields of Islamic knowledge. He held the view that covering the face (niqab) is not obligatory, but rather, covering the hair and body (hijab) is sufficient for women's modesty.
Ibn Taymiyyah: A prominent medieval Islamic theologian and jurist known for his strict adherence to the Quran and Sunnah. While he emphasized the importance of modesty in dress, he did not mandate the wearing of niqab. He considered hijab (covering the hair and body) as fulfilling the requirements of Islamic dress.
Ibn Qudamah: A Hanbali jurist from the 12th century who wrote extensively on Islamic jurisprudence. He held the opinion that while hijab is obligatory for women, covering the face (niqab) is not mandatory.

2 of the other Fiqhs/ islamic jurisprudence/Schools of thought made Niqab Obligatory for muslim women
both Imam Hanbali and Imam Shafi'i are known for their views on the obligation of niqab for women in certain situations. In the Hanbali school, niqab is generally considered obligatory for women in front of non-mahram men. Similarly, in the Shafi'i school, niqab is considered obligatory in specific circumstances, particularly when there is a risk of fitnah or temptation. These views are based on their interpretations of Islamic teachings and jurisprudence.

I just want to say this, wearing a niqab in Western countries attracts you even more attention than wearing a face mask &/or a hijab because those two are more normalized.
I saw a woman wearing a black abaya AND a black niqab here in my lily white city in Belgium. Some people & little kids were staring at her.
As a hijab-wearing woman (who wears Western clothes here e.g. long sleeves men's tops & straight cut trousers) I was a little scared for her in case she got discriminated by someone who simply didn't like her coverings, possible scenarios like a bus driver refusing to pick her up at the bus stop or university staff blanking/ignoring her. Now in the GCC countries her look wouldn't gain any attention, it's pretty normal (speaking from experience wearing a black abaya & black hijab).
It's a shame though if she was wearing a very skimpy crop top or full sleeves of tattoos people would be less judgmental (that's what I realized after thinking) & stare less even though they aren't that common here either.

A muslim should not follow one specific school of thought as all four of them are linked to each other one way or another. We should first and foremost base our following on Qur’an and Sunnah. @@Givebackthescarf Hahaha, I don't mind answering. But, I think you have it wrong. I did not revert to Islam for the simple purpose of modesty, I reverted because it (Islam) was true. Compared to Christianity, it actually made sense, and the faith helped me to grow closer to الله. I don't go to a mosque (I can't...I'm not old enough to drive, there's not one near me, and my parents would find out too easily 😅), and I don't have a physical copy of the Qur'an-- I tried to get my mum to buy one, but she found out quickly that it was for Islam and refused 😬. However, I do read it online and it's easy to see that it really hasn't been tainted with. Unlike the Bible, which Muslims believe is corrupt. If the Qur'an said to cover everything-- your eyes, hands, face, and feet, I would do so because I believe the Qur'an as the truth. For me, it's more than just "flocking to these spaces when wanting to be modest." And I'm not being misled either, in fact, if it wasn't for Islam, I would have been misguided by the LGBTQ+. I don't do FULL prayers either. Arabic is not my primary or secondary language, but I'm not rushing it. I'm learning each separate prayer in Arabic through flashcards and simply taking my time with it as this was the advise I've been hearing from a few Muslims as well as a close Muslimah friend. Hope that cleared things up :)

In Islamic fıqh, according to the two madhhabs (Shafi'i and Hanbali), face and hands are awrah in any case whether there is fitna or not. Normally it is mustahab in 2 of them (Hanafi and Maliki), but when there is fear of fitna, covering one's face is a must according to these two madhhabs. What is meant by fitna is when people do not avoid their gaze and corruption increase. This is what the ulema meant when they said fitna.
That is to say, it is either mustahab (according to this view, obligatory in case of fitna) or absolutely obligatory. In other words, even according to the view that says it is not compulsory, it is a must to cover the face in an environment and time where sedition and corruption increase.

Wajib by definition means it’s NOT fardh or mandatory. Don’t make things mandatory that are not mandatory and don’t make haram and halal up according to your own logic.
The prophet(pbuh) clearly stated that the face is not part of awrah. If making things up and adding them to the religion is bidayat, calling niqab mandatory is an invention in the deen and therefore a bidayat. The Quran doesn’t indicate towards a face covering. The Hadith clearly says the hands (🙌 up to wrist) is not part of awrah along with the face.
I don’t care which school of thought it is, making up halal and haram and fardh is not something a school or madjhab has right to do.
