    I'm guessing to transfer lossless audio wirelessly, the H2 chips have to stay in close and consistent range of each other. I'm probably wrong but that's my best guess

      Basiclly that's the premise

    • @johnatkinson1111

      That makes the most sense to hit the bandwidth without spiking the power would need it to be extremely close. For an iPhone even in your pocket might be too far without needing higher power signals. Even with the proximity it may be that the AirPods battery life is shorter but with the 2 hours of the vision pro it’s less of an issue than with a Mac or iPhone

    • @davidbelecci6970
      @davidbelecci6970 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think that is a correct guess. Remember, Apple would use a form of UltraWideBand, so it’s using a far higher frequency (6.24 and 8.23 GHz) than BT 2.4 GHz. Just like 2.4 vs 5 GHz WiFi: higher bandwidth = faster data transfer, but less range and a more easily obstructed signal by walls, furniture, etc. I think it would be possible to make it work with a phone that is in your pocket, but maybe not with a transmit power that is either allowable or power efficient enough. And then what about leaving your phone on the table and walking around the house? AirPods manage that connection quite well with any (Apple) device on BT. With UWB, not so much, I would guess. So now you have to market and implement a form of auto switching to lossless when your Pods are within reliable UWB range.

      With Sony’s LDAC that’s what happens. If they’re close and in “direct sight” it works, otherwise it downgrades or chops.

    My guess how it went down inside Apple:
    - software for lossless audio isn’t ready yet and it could happen they scrap it but they hope to have it done by the time Vision Pro drops
    - because they don’t want another AirPower they decided not to announce this “on stage”
    - then they thought it would be weird to announce them as AirPods Pro 3 in the keynote if all they’re gonna talk about is USBC

    • @jesselam5867
      @jesselam5867 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, I don’t have too much of a problem calling it 2nd gen, because I don’t think the improvements are big enough to call it a 3rd gen. Lossless audio and usb c are improvements but not enough by themselves.

      @@jesselam5867 I agree, but I think they could have been called AirPods Pro 2nd Gen V2 or something to signify that they made improvements to them other than "If you get an iPhone 15 get the USB-C case, and if you stick with 14 get the lightning case but actually if you get the lightning case you're an idiot and now don't have this feature"
      edit: forgot end quotes

    • @jesselam5867
      @jesselam5867 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@themadlad_That's apple though, they like simplicity they would never rename their AirPods 2.1 or Gen v2, if they decide to make changes it's always under the wraps, undisclosed.
      Besides, lossless audio is only supported with the vision pro which isn't even announced yet so literally no one not even people owning iPhone 15's can take advantage of lossless audio. So the only upgrade for the regular person is USB C which is as advertised.
      Based on their approach with these "AP2.1" I guess we can infer that lossless audio for apple is moreso a hardware thing on both ends so by the time apple makes lossless audio more mainstream with iPhones and Macs, APP3 would be out and it would be more publicly advertised.

And I don’t think they mean that both should have H2 for enabling lossless audio, it’s just that it should be at least H2 to handle the processing power. Since bionic processors are much stronger, do you think the lossless will trickle down to iPhone as well with Apple Music?

    Basically the same thing happened with the first gen air pods pro. When I believe 3rd gen air pods came out they added MagSafe to the case. They updated the first gen pro at the same time to have the updated dust and water resistance for the case as well as adding MagSafe. The updated case was only available after a certain build date and I believe the model number was different but that was the only way to know which ones you bought. The box was the same on the front and had no mention of the added MagSafe.

    As far as I remember the AirPod pro 2s with a lightning port were advertised as capable of lossless audio…
    So what changed? And why is no one talking about the fact that we were lied to?
    They seem to be emphasizing that the ultra low latency part. I’m wondering if that has something to do with this?
    Were the original pair receiving lossless audio at a normal latency?
    Do they mean to say that the lightning port has support for lossless audio on iPhone but it won’t on vision pro and that the vision pro will only support it on the usb c pair?
    This is an inconsistency. Unless I jumped to an alternate universe…

  • @Errcyco
    @Errcyco ปีที่แล้ว

    I don’t care about the type-c port really.. neat but whatever. What’s cool , is Adaptive Noise Cancelling. At first I was like man this sucks it’s just transperancy mode..
    Then I went to do dishes. As soon as that loud water sound came on it canceled it.. but I could still hear what I had been listing to crystal clear. It’s hard to explain but amazing. Anytime something loud happens they somehow figure out what you’d WANT to hear and NOT WANT to hear and separate them in real-time. Pretty amazing feature to just add in there lol. I have the APP2 lightning with Qi and it came up in my phone with iOS 17 update.. on my M1 MacBook Air though I don’t have the option but that makes sense.. I guess.
    And when you start to talk it flawlessly pauses or turns down the volume. These actually feel more worth the $275 paid for them direct from apple (w tax + shipping included). I buy direct to ensure I get the best customer support and icon badges on find my and to make sure it’s not a fake or a used one that’s been tampered with. That gets expensive, but not really for how long I use each product. Now all my Apple stuff is ARM based Apple Silicon and it shows. Airdropping and BT related stuff work fantastic. The U1 wireless chip has been a godsend, I use an AirTag and the feature on the AirPods Pro 2 as well.
    Just loving Apple at the moment. Some product lines are getting convoluted and they need to pull it back but other than that, pretty great.

    i think it's best to clear something up, basically, lossless audio can refer to 2 things, that it supports lossless wireless CODEC: such as LDAC and AAC etc or now they added a hardware for it, in this case, by technicality, all apple products supports lossless audio, as AAC is apple's in house codec, and audio file type. so it's kind of a gimmick, they are not lying, but it's more of a technicality at this point, you can play lossless audio via bluetooth, its not that new, or for using a dongle that supports the bit rate for the wired route.

    Secondly.. what codec and protocol is being used for that audio transfer between the Vision Pro and iPod pro? Still Bluetooth and AAC? If so, then the bit rate is far below the quality of even CD quality (never mind hi-res, which wasn’t actually mentioned)… even Sony’s LDAC has a lower bitrate (and lower resolution) than an actual CD. Which is the resolution that lossless starts at.

      This was my question can we just but the usb c case separately?

    If I bought a type c case, but use it to house my old gen2 AirPods Pro. Then one day I take it to repair, 😂will they replace them with the new gen2?

    In Europe or at least in Germany there’s still a physical SIM card slot in it due to the lack of carriers supporting eSIM. There are just a few. So that’s why 🤷‍♂️

    I'm thinking more of use case scenario. How many people truly care about lossless audio? People online morn the loss of 3D touch but apple say that a lot of people don't make use of the feature. If they add a H2 chip and then realize that it not really being use and they remove it it would cause some backlash.

    Beats Studio Pro support wireless lossless on existing iPhones and some Androids.

    its funny that they branded iPhone 14 as a separate model even though it has the same chip and technology as the iPhone 13

      iPhone 14 is actually using 13 Pro’s A15 which has better clock speeds than stock A15 included in iPhone 13, 13 Mini and iPad Mini. And the new 15 is using 14 Pro’s A16

      @@Svenisko1705 but isnt the performance between the A15 on the 13 Pro Max almost the same as the 13?

    My wired headphones have always supported lossless audio. That's why I bought an Android with a headphone jack.

    I get why they did this though. If they called it gen 3 then people would say nothing new was added

    Yeah, I ordered the faux gen 3 Airpods Pro, but really just for the USB-C. I’m done with Lightning.
