    No deal is infinitely better than a bad deal, or remaining in the EU. I think Brussels is beginning to get the message.

      @jc fur - we voted to join the EEC (just a trading block) it was the EU that introduced the Maastricht Treaty making it a political union later on - THAT is not what we voted for and we weren't given a vote on it. MORON

    I commend the PM on her speech. Even if she has dodged multiple questions about Brexit multiple times, her coming out and telling us her vision on brexit, on a commitment to deliver a smooth and orderly brexit is good.

    It is too easy to stand on the sidelines and shout how you think it should be done. Theresa May took on a job that nobody wanted, Cameron walked away without even trying. With a country deeply divided over this issue, the PM has delivered a speech and a strategy that is in the interests of us all. She is staying true to Brexit and the vote we took, I congratulate her on an excellent speech. Well done Prime Minister.

    I'm confused. There I was expecting a speech which said that there would be millions more for the NHS, how the UK was going to have its cake and eat it, how the EU was desperate to do a deal, how the UK held the whip hand in negotiations, how reaching a deal would be the easiest thing going, how the German car manufacturers were going to pressurise the EU into giving the UK what we wanted, how the ECJ would have no control over the UK in any way, how we were going to 'walk' at the first sign of stroppiness from the EU etc etc.
    But Mrs May said none of the above. Quite the opposite, in fact. So has the British public been misled by Johnson, Gove, Fox, Duncan-Smith and Davis from Day One?

      You forget that a large part of the strain on the NHS is health tourism from europe, benefiting from public services we essentially pay for them to have with nothing gained in return since they do not pay tax in this country and we contribute huge sums of money to ensure the system that allows it continues.
      And yes, because we are leaving the EU those large sums of money are up for potential reassignment in the future depending on the negotiations. It would be pretty silly to spend all of it on the NHS though, especially when there are many institutions and partnerships with the EU that we pay to have that benefit us greatly.
      However the point still remains that it is our money and we should spend it on what benefits us, rather than what benefits the rest of the EU, and what those things are must remain our choice and not theirs because how can you know if they are to our benefit otherwise?
      It just also happens to be what benefits us in many cases also benefits the EU because thats how free trade works: Everyone wins when it is fair and as open as possible.
      Such a pragmatic approach is not trying to have your cake and eat it too, that's just how global trade works, I am sorry it benefits everyone so much I guess! We should make a trade agreement that will reduce Britain to abject poverty instead for the benefit of the EU, that would be better for everyone right? That makes no sense, in a trade agreement your partner's success is your success as well, otherwise why would anyone agree to one?
      You also don't seem to know how negotiations work. If you do not enter one with a hard stance which you intend to soften later you will be robbed blind for your spinelessness. You must aim for the heavens to make the mountain you end up with seem reasonable by comparison, that's negotiation 101. It was vitally important we maintained that rhetoric going in, and nay-saying from the sides as you are now only weakens our position, unless your goal was actually for Britain to fail?

    After all, UK's concern has to be with the whole world as we are now a nation of people from the whole world and not only of people from the EU.

    The EU Commission shows a total lack of understanding abour UK's desire for Brexit!
    If their leaders watched the recent cinema release "Darkest Hour' they will then understand that 'Economics' is not the only issue as to why the UK chose a path of independentce from EU's suffocating control.
    In WW II, the UK stood alone and endured years of uncertainty but we never wavered about our values which still govern the UK today. Then we willingly sheltered the tortured communities of Europe and also helped them regain their lost homelands.
    UK's values are not based on 'Economics' alone but on deep-rooted human values quite unique to our land, the UK.
    Many a times the UK have suffered and endured even when alone and post-Brexit will be nothing new to our experience - we bravehearts in the UK will endure as before.
    None of the other EU member nations can understand our UK's inner strength and purpose and it is for this reason that the EU Commission are trying to bully us into submission but as the "Darkest Hour" shows that this way will fail.
    The EU Commission are also afraid of UK's decision to be independent Once Again to take control of the important aspects of our country's governance from trade with the whole expanding world with strong vibrant economies to the control of our internal affairs including of its borders based on regulations which suits the needs of our country which includes home security.
    It is puzzling why the EU is bringing in the issue of Northern Ireland into Brexit negotiations when this is one of the four regions of the UK especially when in 2018 Northern Ireland is no longer the same of 60 years ago as Northern Ireland along with the rest of the UK have become a new multicultural nation with many new settlers now settled all over the UK whose aspirations are for a united UK as many new settlers have families all over including in Northern Ireland.
    Northern Ireland is not a one-race one-faith Catholic region of the UK. Northern Ireland just like the rest of the UK is now a multiracial multifaith region which makes it very different from the the Irish Republic.
    Besides the non-Catholic population is about 40% only which puts them in the minority.
    Also among the 40% Catholics one can assume that 15% prefer the existing Union with the UK. So that the people who have negative sentiments on the Union is less than 25%. If Sinn Fein's strong-arm methods are limited then the people of Northern Ireland wanting what Sinn Fein desire is likely to be about 9% only.
    This, the overwhelming majority in Northern Ireland wishing to stay in the Union, the EU Commission is deliberately ignoring because they want to use any means - wrong ones as well - to put barriers in the Brexit negotiations. It is a great shame that the EU Commission is using such unethical means - one did not imagine that their leaders would stoop so low.
    What the EU Commission should have suggested (taking into account that in 2018 Northern Ireland is now more a part of the UK since many new settlers are now resident here which has changed the character of the UK of 60 years ago with new settlers sitting as Cabinet Ministers, Lords, MPs, Mayors, Councillors, CEOs, other responsible positions) is that the UK with the Irish Republic under UK's own laws can develop a softer border engagement between UK's Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic. But out of the confusion and out of fear about EU's future post-Brexit the Commissioners failed to think of this simple option.
    These, our desire to lead the life we choose which we have confidence in, are fundamental needs beyond "Pure Economics" which we UK citizens now feel that the EU have not delivered to the UK to our satisfaction since voluntarily joining the EU years ago.
    The EU by putting all sorts of barriers for our Exit - an unconditional Exit option is always implied in any partnership entered into voluntarily - clearly indicates that the EU Commission are afraid that the UK will do very well on its own.
    This success by a now independent UK the EU fear will give messages to other EU members to consider having an Exit strategy of their own.
    Basically the EU Commission is shaking in their boots and as we know people who are afraid will resort to bullying. This is exactly what the EU Commission are doing - bullying out of fear for they want to deny the truth which is that now the Commission is no longer a fit for purpose entity.
    The EU Agreement of years back also had an Exit clause honouring the wishes of the people to leave if they chose to do later on. This the EU Commission are dishonouring and this speaks ill of the EU Commission's leadership.
    The greatest wrong the EU Commission are doing is interfering in the internal affairs of our country the UK as mentioned above on Northern Ireland. They are not ashamed to use any means to stop us the UK Brexitting - to stoop so low shows their total fear that other EU members will take UK's stance in a few years time once we the UK show that we made a wonderful success of our lives after Brexit.
    The EU Commission is in total confusion from fear and they cannot think straight and calmly. Instead of waiting to see if UK succeeds in its 'Hopes for a Better Future' which can lead to a better future for the EU as well, the EU instead are burying their heads in the sands thereby ignoring the reality of a better future for all.
    It is time the EU Commission faced reality. They need to clear their heads and be less afraid of UK's success post-Brexit and accept that UK's success will bring positive changes all around including to the EU through new ways of interacting with the world which has changed and progressed and become more dynamic beyond our dreams.
    The EU's attitude should not be so negative and in a spirit of free choice which existed during the setting up of the EU years ago the EU now should permit this free choice and accept the popular sanctioned Brexit without the bitterness they are expressing now.
    This will bring prosperity not only to the UK but to the EU also and through this broadening of relationships with the wider world the international communities will be drawn closer to one another and this can only be a positive blessing.

    UK goods exports to the 11 fellow founding members of the Single Market have grown over the years 1993-2015 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of just 1.0 per cent. This compares unfavorably with the mean growth rate of the goods exports of Canada, Japan, Singapore and the US and 10 other non-member countries trading with the same 11 founding members under WTO rules, who had a CAGR of 1.93 per cent, which is almost twice as high. It also compares unfavourably with UK goods exports to the 111 countries with which it trades under WTO rules. These have grown over the same 23 years nearly three times faster, at a CAGR of 2.88 per cent. The European Commission’s preferred index of Market integration is the difference between intra- and extra-EU services exports as a percentage of EU GDP. In 2015 intra-EU exports were 6.90 per cent of EU GDP and extra-EU exports 5.90 per cent, a difference of 1.10 per cent. • @simonecowell5559

      Phil Goddard because over population, stress on public services and trade restrictions cause the people at the bottom to be left out. Over population means poor living standards and lack of low skill jobs means no movement out of that and trade restrictions and regulations mean businesses cannot, in all senses of the word, afford to employ any more people to increase productivity which then increases the amount of people in work and paying tax to support public services. School places are overrun. The kids in school who need more attention to achieve the basics are overlooked as class sizes grow exponentially. This then again decreases the employability of that child in later life and has a knock on effect on the quality of it’s life. And so on.

    • @philgoddard7562
      @philgoddard7562 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simone Cowell but leaving will not stop that. In fact judging by all independent reports leaving will make the majority of the population poorer.

    • @FireAKADrazn
      @FireAKADrazn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the reports show it MIGHT hurt GDP in the short term, which is the aggregate of what the country makes, it doesn't account for the affects it has on specific classes, sectors etc other than oversimplified averages.
      The Bank Of England on the other-hand has many reports showing the effects of over-saturation in labour markets, all of which show More People = Less Pay for low skilled job. Simple supply and demand economics, huge population growth like what we have seen recently is unsustainable for the most vulnerable in society.
      Frankly, I am fine with luxury goods and such being more expensive in the short term, if it means we have less homeless people on streets or people working 3 jobs living hand-to-mouth while also raising kids. A benefit to the country as a whole at the expense of the weak and vulnerable is not a trade-off I will support.

    • @simonecowell5559
      @simonecowell5559 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phil Goddard not really, we could become self-sufficient, agriculturally; only 7% of the UK is built on - plenty of jobs, new businesses. And with our fishing waters back, we’ll be as healthy as the Danes or Chinese.

    • @simonecowell5559
      @simonecowell5559 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      F I R E it doesn’t, because that’s what we have now. Luxury goods will always be expensive. You don’t pay VAT on essentials, like food etc. So yes, stop free flowing immigration to desaturate the market and make employment gainful. This goes hand in hand with the agriculture comment I made above. Work is also good for psychological well-being, a lot of young men are committing suicide. GDP is relative, if goods are cheap, lower GDP is acceptable. Also GDP averages which makes it seem like everyone is getting this but some have more, others have less than GDP. So applied to the poorer in society, it’s meaningless, hence why I didn’t use the term. I meant productivity within a business allows a business to grow and employ more people.

    EU which shall not make her voters happy
    Le Pen in France should hopefully win soon. If she does the people that vote for her shall also be leavers
    Holland
    Then what’s left. Poor countries to bail out poor countries
    No single makers or customs union
    We should be trading with each individual counties rather than EU

    The battle between Apple and Samsung. She sounds like Corbyn who had the balls to speak first. Although she is slightly more "harsh" on EU. However why would people follow a leader that has no sense of direction - even worse than the wind, can't you people not tell that she is being played and she fights for her and mates? We all need business partners at this time and you can control the business without leaving it if you are a hard worker.

    • @FireAKADrazn
      @FireAKADrazn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you forget the numerous attempts we made to reform the EU from inside it? How well did that go for us, hmm?
      Also, she literally spends the entire speech outlining pretty much the ideal scenario for Britain and in her opinion the EU as well. But I guess having a plan is the same as having no sense of direction right?
      As for her "mates," you forget they are also UK citizens. This is in their interest too.

    • @LucianNeagu
      @LucianNeagu 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They didn't do enough! Did you forget how she seized the opportunity to be a PM although she was against Brexit? And regarding "her mates" I definitely didn't refer to other politicians but to business people, check her background friend. Can't you see how she's playing us? And she doesn't do to well on Brexiting keeping in mind the way she approached Brexit in the first place...

    We should take the trade negotiations off the table, and declare Unilateral Free Trade. By imposing tariffs, we harm only our own consumers by reducing choice. Our businesses won't like it, but feather bedding businesses disincentivises them from producing better and cheaper products and kills innovation. Furthermore, it would put the responsibility for ensuring a soft border in Ireland firmly in the EU's court.

  • @richard68ization

    Weather ??? it is fairly good ! ,when it comes to law you listen to the EU and Islam ! border control yes not in years to come ! ,,sorry we have lost tolerance .complexity how many years does it take ? ,,,your interests should give us priority not Brussels ! ,I wish she felt the same way with us as she feels for Ireland .,Many of the arguments in favour of the UK remaining a member of the Customs Union or Single Market, by way of EFTA or the EEA, have been resuscitated in the light of the election. They all rest on the assumption that membership has been of great benefit to the UK economy. Unfortunately, this assumption remains untested and unproven - even after 23 years of membership.

    Poor, Irish people's , the pm at the beginning of her speech say. We do not want hard border, or infrastructure but if the Eu want that done to them. Just to prepare the blame if there a hard border. It is like when boris Johnson suggested a bridge to be built in between France and the Uk, will the nation agree to have no checks on that bridge. One and half year in it and still no solution and I was just one of the three point that uk had to answered. But we are strong and stable on the closing of many businesses in recent weeks part due to berixt. "The future bright"

    • @findtherror1747
