All this means is that they don't want war, but if war is brought upon them or if they are provoked, they will certaintely do everything to defeat their enemy. Maybe understand the things which they are saying and their actions. North Korea didn't attack one single nation since the Korean war.

You missed the entire point, the worrying part isn't about if they are provoked, it's more of what so they define as to what constitutes as provoking them, for all we know SK or the US could say one word that triggers Kim and that could be enough to see nukes fly.

To be brutally honest, the dream of the two Koreas reuniting, at least peacefully, was always extremely far-fetched at best.
North and South are the complete opposite of each other politically, socially, and ideologically.
The South is a democratic republic (albeit with some considerable flaws), while the North is one of the most repressive dictatorships on earth.

In fact, there is no country called "Korea". DPRK calls itself ”Joseon" (조선), and Pyongyang used to regard South Korea as “South Joseon” (남조선). ROK calls itself "Hanguk" (한국), and Seoul regards North Korea as ”North Han“ (북한). People from countries outside the Sinosphere may have difficulty understanding these from English translations. Kim's doing this is equivalent to declaring unilateral independence. Maybe he will change the country's English name later, and then claim that Joseon and Hanguk are two ethnic groups that are not affiliated with each other.

But chinese and japanese still called them joseon. Then Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910, and Japan established the Governor-General of Chōsen/朝鮮總督府(pronunciation of the word "joseon" in Japanese). During the Japanese colonial period from 1910 to 1945, ordinary people still called themselves Joseon. But those intellectuals who wanted independence called themselves Dae Han/great Han(대한/大韓), and then established the Provisional Government of Republic of great Han(대한민국大韓民國) in China, the predecessor of the Republic of Korea(대한민국 dae-Han-min-Guk or 한국 Han-guk) in the south. At the same time, the Koreans (mostly Communists) who participated in the anti-Japanese war in northern China still called their homeland joseon. In 1948 they established the Democratic People's Republic of Joseon (조선 민주주의 인민 공화국/朝鮮民主主義人民共和國) aka DPRK.

They are as different as heaven and earth now. They might as well as just coexist peacefully and luve in mutual respect. They should just sign a peace treaty to formally end the Korean War. South Korea never wanted reunification, it always wanted to annex North Korea and overthrow their system, similar to what FDR did to GDR on Germany question. This is unacceptable regardless of whether we like the DPRK or not. Kim Jong Un also acknowledges that, and it's assuming openly what ROK always thought and acted.
And guess what, the country that invaded and destroyed North Korea, it's the same leading to the escalation done by the South counterpart. In case of war, the US will lead the South Korean army. How can this be a war between just two countries? North Korea, with all its defects, is truly independent, it does not take orders from China or Russia.

Right, Kim was going to dismantle his bombs and launch systems...? The only country besides South Africa to give up their nuclear weapons voluntarily is now at war with Russia in year 3.
Kim knows that. Ghaddafi had a credible nuclear weapons program. He rebounced that in return for security promises. Couple of years later he was fked to death with a sword on the streets. Kim knows that too. The Nr. 1 lesson is never give up the the bomb. It's the only real bargaining chip they have and the only real security guarantee there is. Ukraine gave up 9000 nukes. 50% more than the US has now. Almost as many as Russia and US combined today. Ubder the Budapest memorandum their borders and sovereignty was protected by the US, France and Russia of course who received the arsenal of the former Soviet Republic. Much of the space and rocket program had been based there with Glushko. That's going great....

This is how Big Brother was able to control people in Oceania.
Also, North Korea is a heavily sanctioned country. So even though the government of North Korea are the bad actors here, they'll weaponize sanctions against them and turn it into anti-American political propaganda. But even without sanctions, they'd still lie and do propaganda to hold onto power. North Koreans are probably the most misinformed people in the world (which is worse than being uninformed).

Lol an entirely state run communist regime with a cult of personality built around a single family vs an oligarchy run by several wealthy families that indirectly control every aspect of Korean life that's lef to essentially a caste system in the South. Obviously the south is actually liveable but yea not enough people talk about how ROK is like a science fiction, dystopian novel.

Rok has the highest mental illness in all of Asia, declining birth rate, a hub for capitalist exploitation, plastic surgery, promiscuous twerking young woman, self hate, effeminated dancing men, lgbtq problems, drugs/crime, housing and energy Crisis. All of these problems are non existent in the DPRK. Housing, education, energy, food and employment are all provided and free for the citizens of the DPRK.
