You can delete the standard scale fig and with only yours showing, go to File/Save as Template...and be sure to check 'use as default template' and bam! there you are every time.
I did this exercize with my students but some of their figure had open lines and the surface, even if the lines where on the same plane, wasn't created. Wich is your advice in this case?How can we solve this problem?They might get frustrated to restart it from the beginning.

Nice! But whats that Bucket-extension with the pencils? I can't sample the color from the picture with the original Bucket : /
That is the native Mac OS color sampling. Windows looks different, but functions the same.
