- GEM is a project featuring Meinl Cymbals artist Matt Garstka, pianist Eldar Djangirov, and bassist Henrik Linder. Matt's Meinl Cymbals setup from left to right, if sitting behind the kit, is as follows:
14" Byzance Jazz Thin Hihats
18" Byzance Jazz Extra Thin Crash
8" Byzance Traditional Splash
18" Byzance Traditional Extra Thin Hammered Crash
22" Byzance Vintage Pure Ride
Artist Concept Model Fat Stack
20" Byzance Equilibrium China
Piano, synths, composition, and mixing by Eldar Djangirov

Music like this makes you realize jazz fusion is coming back in a huge, very forward-thinking way.

I hope you're sooooooooooo right :)
I think times coulndt be any better for this!
Louis de Mieulle's album with Gartska are incredible as well.
Rumblepac check out Cosmic Liberty with Garstka and Casimir Liberski, whole album is so amazing
Eldars As Linders
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
LMFAO!!!! THIS COMMENT WINS
this was a great comment in the course of drinking and listening to this for the 15th time
This is what I'm searching for.
Anyway, sometimes it's hard to get someone or friends who understand what we listen to. For them, song with good melodies are important. As for me, I'm open to any songs whether it has groove, melodic or tehcnical. Technical progressive songs are always be my cup of tea
This band is technical, lotsa attacks and the odd time signatures. How i love this band so much. Looking forward to this band if they release an album i would definitely buy it.
Another eargasm. We need an album soon!
That intro (and basically all this piece) it's the most fusion metal jazz thing that i've ever heard
Benito Camelas
Damn dude, so you’ve never heard of Planet X? They only have 3 albums plus a live one but fuck man, you never go wrong with Virgil Donati, Tony MacAlpine and Derek Sherinian
Especially when working together
Tigran Hamasyan also makes plenty of jazz that sounds pretty metal, I love that heavy stuff. Aratta Rebirth is a great album to check out, also Shadow Theater and Mockroot
@@The_Kevinist You have just made my day, I didn't read further in the comments before. Didn't know about Planet X! Awesome band, I was curious so I checked them out
Came for the drums and stayed for the mad pianist/keyboardist :o
Same here!
True.
1:47 that pianist is unreal. Bass line with the left hand, solo on the right 🤯
His name is Eldar Djangirov, his other job asides from doing this is being a Death God.
Dude must have played the fuck outta the Accordian or something.
That is normal for him.
all of them unreal 0:00-end
Imagine being this good at anything
I love this comment.
Haha..
nice thought and depression trigger at the same time
I’ve used this comment as a motto for months.
@@notDinsss Hahahaha
I'm going to transcribe this. Bye everyone.
You aint tim buel my man
Already transcribed Torque from them my man
Marc Drums you must not have read kevin’s comment if you’re not tim buell you must be incapable of transcribing sorry I don’t make the rules
@@brendonhester331 Not sure I understand what you're trying to say :P
You wouldn’t mind sending that subscription my way would ya, brother?
YESSSSS! There's been a significant lack of fusionesque bands/compositions. No more Holdsworth (RIP), Tribal Tech, Chick Corea's Elektrik Band etc... Have been missing this. A "Live" CD please!!!! 🙂
I'm so glad you said tribal tech. Kirk Covington is a mind blowing drummer in his own right.
@@latemnf indeed he is 🙂
This trio has easily made it in my favourites list ....I love all the 3 tracks
That ride looks like something divers pulled out of an ancient shipwreck.
Yeah
The titanic bell flattened out
Meshuggah fusion wins again! Fantastic performance!!!!❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Phenomenal musicianship! I can't stop listening to these guys!!!
One of the best things I saw for long time. Bravo!
Absolutely wonderful!
Great video.☺️ This is the 3rd video that I’ve seen of these same guys playing together including Henrik on the Bass Guitar from Dirty Loops.☺️
Can't stop listening to this... Where's the album guys?... Please?...
okay.... This is my most anticipated release right now.
This is incredible. Thank you
Can we hear hear Henrik have a fat slap bass solo please?
I'm with u on this 1, I Wana hear him solo too, gem have released 3 vids and he hasn't taken a solo in any of em, if he wants he can join my band, I'll let him solo all day long if he wants lol
Matt... dude is off the chain incredible player..
Sounds like a jazz version of AAL
Little more repetitive and djenty though, at least compared to their newer stuff; still pretty similar
You know Tosin did that already right? Look up T.R.A.M.
It had himself, Javier Reyes, Mars Volta's Adrian Terrazas (well he did pretty much all the horn and wind work across multiple albums) and Suicidal Tendencies' Eric Moore on drums.
My comment was more directly relating back to the "jazz version of AAL", than the style.
Indeed it does.
AAL is the jazz version of Metal
Every one of these guys needs to have that Brainwave deal hooked up to them while they're playing. That would be Awesome to see! BRAVO!
WOW. Just WOW...
0:57 sick
Eldar is a fucking beast... well all of them are but that multitasking stands out.
The drummer and the pianist competing like they're fighting the final boss while the bassist stands back there eating popcorns as he watches them hard carry him
Nah, Henrik doing that AoE buff spell
@Joe Miller exactly like in monster hunter.
Henrik is carrying them, tf you mean
Well, these GEM performances put a lid on it for me to purchase the 18" Byzance Traditional Extra Thin Hammered Crash! It arrives tomorrow!
Thank you Gary!
Eldar, my current favorite pianist (sorry, Hiromi [Uehara]), and my current favorite electric bassist Henrik Linder/Dirty Loops... HOLY SHIITE!
y'all got anymore of them Gem singles?
*scratches ashy neck vigorously.
Contemporary ELP. Nice!
Need more Fusion like this! _PLEASE!!!_
This is how Djazz was created
Greetings from Malaysia.
Great song arrangement, great musicianship skills. This reminds me of Progressive stuffs such as Tigran Hamasyan and a lil bit of Djent like Tosin Abasi. I like the chords that ya guys playing, it brings out the dark progressive energy and to play it, y'all need to focus and have that djent kind of feel in it. Lol, it is just a sincere opinion from me. Keep up the PROGRESSIVE thingy guys. Im a BIG FANS of y'all. Im looking forward, waiting for y'all to come up with new songs.
Great music. I love it.
I get that its a group performance but can you upload just the footage of Matt ? I mean, its a Meinl video, but the majority of the shots are on the piano player...
Stay tuned : )
@@meinlcymbals awesome (: I love the other group vid you put up yesterday. Shots like that work when you see everyone doing their thing.
He is stealing the show to be honest😂
@@juanjose312000 he's a beast, there's no doubt about it. But it's like if Yamaha made a highlight video but all we saw was the bass player or guitar player, its just outta place is all I'm saying
OMG!!!! WHERE IS THE TRANSCRIBED PDF? THIS IS PURE GENIUS!!!!
Ahaha so enthusiastic !!
Holy shit, this is my favorite one yet. So damn groovy. Album when?
Wow..amazing 2020.
Excellent!
2:58 That is all.
Third video of these guys that I check today. Probably they got in my feed because I like Animals as Leaders. Just wow.
Great work!! Subscribed!
2:57 - 3:03, straight beasting!!
reminds me of T.r.a.m
This is gold
just finished a full band transcription of this
The music when you’re like “Thank fuck it’s not halfway over”
Dayum! 😳
this is literally insanity
Take this on the road and I’m there.
is that the drummer from Animals as Leaders and the bassist from Dirty Loops? Holy CRAP!!!
Mathcore arranged as jazz? i am in!
Amazing.
How much of this is written, practiced/rehearsed and performed as written?
Is some of it just improvised as they play it?
Im picturing Arnor dan from agent fresco singing something somewhere throughout this chaos
I loved "Torque"... But this, maybe I'm not ready.
Piango djent sounds good :)
1:29 so progressive, i love it 😎
bruh i got this song in beat saber and its fucking insane i play it everyday and its so much fun this song is amazing
Just tell us when the album drops
I keep checking my playback speed every 30 seconds because I believe less in my own memory than the fact that humans can play this.
God as Leaders
omg yaaaaaaaassssssssssssssss
0:48 When I Wish Upon A Star
Damn Shia LaBeouf is fucking crazy on the piano!
0:58 djent!!
Killer
This is the theme song to the fight where Charlie Brown drop kicks Lucy after pulling the football for the last time!
I'm still trying to process Torque, and now you throw this in the mix. My brain is gonna crash.exe
Uh.... that was pretty good
Monster As Leaders
We. Need. Al. Buuums!
Fuck me this is intensely groovy! Can’t wait till they stop teasing us and put out an actual album
God-fucking-dammit!
Would this potentially be going up on itunes?
Hi Max, that's a question for Garstka and GEM. - Chris/Meinl
Holy shit.
Where can I buy this music?!
How they do they remember all these 😵
is that lars ulrich
even henrik's hair is polyrhythmic
Very similar with Special Providence
How about a concert together?
More
Dprogmetaljazz!!!

I guess a piano CAN djent
What genre is this?
Prog metal influenced jazz fusion
2:57 jeesus
*O, new brain food!!*
🎹🎸🥁😄😆👏👏👏
0:56 and here begins the impossible...
they have 12 tone brains
What's up with Matt's stealing Drake's cut
Am I insane? Or do I hear a keyboard playin between 1:30 and 1:45
MESHUJAZZ
Can't find my face 🤤
No clue what they're doing. Mixing styles like nothing matters. Tricking the ear with the time inside of time tricks. WTF
Anyone know where I can buy the album?
Unfortunately no realease :(
This is literally piano djent
So nice to see such a performance without guitar players (jk)
engineer forgot tom toms have tone :(
16 people had the video on mute
seven8time They were trying to hit the like button, but failed due to the extreme brain damage caused by the song.
