  • PYD Life has come out with a HUGE range of glass you can sublimate on, and they hooked us up with a wide array of samples so we can show YOU how to sublimate on glass. We turned out sublimation station on full blast and had so much fun trying out the PYD Life clear sublimation glass, frosted sublimation glass, shimmer sublimation glass and even color-changing sublimation glass! They have so many different shapes, too - from tumblers to wide mouth jars and more.
    We tried sublimating the glass in the Cricut Mug Press and in the PYD Life tumbler press, and we show you how to sublimate glass in both machines--including two different methods with the tumbler press.
    All of the sublimation materials we used are below!

    This may be a silly question but would you recommend that same heating time in a tumbler press with 3 turns for an unfrosted 16 oz glass can?

    • @JustMightDIY
      @JustMightDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should refer to the manufacturer for time and temp considerations. It also matters if you're doing a full 360 design or not. With the 16's we've had experience with, we used 1 turn, but that can change as well on the overall dimensions of the 16oz. We would recommend having a spare one or two for the testing and learning curve. Hope this helps.

    • @JustMightDIY
      @JustMightDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of sublimation glass pieces range in time and temperature. Ours was 180 seconds, but check with the manufacturer for their tolerance. Thanks for watching!

  • @bobmurphy9380
    @bobmurphy9380 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Both - do you know what the temp settings are on the Cricut mug press i.e. first setting 120c? second setting 200c etc. I either melt my polymer cups or I don't do them long enough. Someone told me to do polymer, they need to be pressed at 165 for 100sec's.

    • @JustMightDIY
      @JustMightDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for your question. There’s no way to control the temperature on the Cricut Mug Press, unfortunately. We’ve found that it automatically adjusts the time depending on what you put in it, but there’s no direct way to control over either the time or temperature.

    • @JustMightDIY
      @JustMightDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We try not to place heat resistant tape over the design. If you have to put it over the design then a longer heat exposure to push through the tape seems to help. Happy crafting!

    Hello new subscriber here. I just purchased the PYD mug press after watching your unboxing video. Now watching this video. Do I need to purchase the other attachment for the 16oz glass can or can I use the attachmnet that came with it. I did read through all the comments before asking.I did see this question being asked. However, your answer was depending on the brand. I have this exact one so would need to get the attachment 😊 thank you in advance for your time and for making this video. It was excellent.

      Hey! We're so glad to have you here. 😀 PYD now sells so many different configurations of this heat press that it's hard to know which attachment comes with which one. What we'd recommend is to grab the 16oz glass cans you want to sublimate, test them with your current attachment and then go from there. We hope this helps!

    • @JustMightDIY
      @JustMightDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Never tried it, but most things need to have a special coating to take sublimation. Please note, if the can is sealed and has contents inside it may explode. If it is empty, then the pressure of application may crush it.

      Back pressure could solve the problem of crushing, maybe consider something more rigid. Wood dowel maybe? but the metal on its own won't take much of the ink. This is where subliglaze might come in handy. We used it on wood in this project.
