Chris Fagan is proof that good blokes can succeed
@@brendanbarry4802 And only 63 years young 🔥 Probably one of the greatest comeback seasons ever considering where they were after around 6 rounds 👍
Add Craig Mcrae.
@@grantmckay6429what have those two in common?
Both won premiership(s) with Brisbane.
I was genuinely in tears when they won 😭😭😭😭
@LomuHabana And both great blokes. Very humble... Its a great trait Lomu
Fagan has to be one of the most likeable genuine blokes to ever coach well done 🎉
His players love him
@@sidberns1373 I reckon everyone loves him.
True dat
Imagine being David King right now. "Fagan should be replaced with Chris Scott" lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Gonna go down as one of the worst hot takes of all time. It's so great seeing Fages win it all. Turned their season around, got them through 2 tough prelims, and now won the ultimate glory. (And did it while all that legal mess was going on). Been a remarkable year. He’s a class act. Deserves all the success and praise.
I would like David king say sorry or say he was wrong
King has had it in for Fagan for a while. Chris gets the last laugh! I hope Fagan keeps coaching the boys for quite a while. All class!
Up there with his constant disrespect of Geelong dating all the way back to 2011.
David King has no idea about football 😅
@@matthewnorman9803I agree
I owe Fages an apology. I was calling for his head after our poor start. I didn't think he could get us here but i was wrong. Massive Lions fan and I'm only happy to gorge myself on some humble pie! 💪🦁🦁🏆
Humble collingwood "pie", I get it.
You’ll probably do the same thing next year. People like that let emotions get the better of them
I thinking when his contract is up its time for new. I thought perhaps he has done all he can which is a lot over 8 years. But of all the players, just their fitness and becoming accurate goal kicking in the finals. Amazing to Zorko, Lester , Starcevich and the other boys
Chris Fagan is sitting there, listening to Will Ashcroft speak, and thinking to himself "Well there is the next Brisbane captain sorted"
“Keep trying to learn, keep trying to get better” “Crisis creates opportunities” ……the wisdom of this guy is next level. So humble too. No wonder his players go to war for him each week and now have the premiership cup. Congratulations Brisbane, you guys put on a playing masterclass.
A lot of Clarkson influence shining through. Well done Fagan.
Fagan so generous in his recognition of everyone involved in the win today! Such a humble and positive person.
It's actually one of the best premiership runs we have ever seen. The Lions knocked out 1st, 3rd, 4th and 8th placed team in these finals. They had to beat 3 of the top 4 sides to take it home
Yes u generally play teams in the top 8 during finals 😂
@@master_macchiato3222 You generally don't play nearly all the top 4 teams on route to a Premiership as a team outside of the top 4.
Why did you even comment if you were going to miss the whole point of it?
Western Bulldogs was better in 2016. Knocked out 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th placed teams. The new week break before finals has changed everything though. 2016 and 2024 wouldn't have been possible without the week break.
And went. To western australia @@cloudhigh6582
Both masssive finals wins by both . Awesome
Collingwood supporter very happy for Brisbane Lions )). Great to see Fagan finally a premiership coach
Same here. Great coach
Ditto.👍
As a swan’s supporter to you Chris Fagan and the lions written off after about 6 rounds and showed us what it really takes to win a GF 🔥🏆🔥
Good on you for acknowledging the lions win. Sydney have played great footy but unfortunately couldn't do it today.
@@shaunneal9981 Bro it’s a great story and they absolutely deserve it as much as I’m hurting for our club losing to the lions IMO is no shame 👍
You are all class for writing that comment. I still hurt from the GF loss to Port in 2004. It sucks and I feel for you mate. Sydney will bounce back better next year.
@@Spartan902 This year bro the lions proved that they fully deserved to be 🏆 Take care and celebrate hard mate 👍
Only amateurs had them written off up to the Adelaide draw. Some people (me 😁) still had them making the finals.
Darcy deserves a lot of praise. He literally managed to hold the Fort at the Ruck in McInerney's absense.
I see what you did there...
Pies got rid of Grundy for a reason lmak
@@SuperJayainIt had to be done.
@@ComatosedpeanutIt just goes to show in the modern game you really don't need a superstar Ruckman to win Premierships. You just need a pretty one that does all the basics right. The Bulldogs should now think long and hard about whether they actually Tim English going forward.
He was never a bad ruckman. Fagan just plays one ruck with Joe as backup.
As a die hard Collingwood fan, this makes me proud. He's up there with the best. Well done Brisbane Lions !!
It’s great to see a lot of young talent coming through the ranks. Bodes well for the future.
As a Swans fan, well done BL, you knew how to win. Enjoy the celebration.
As I've said to others, good on you for acknowledging the lions win. The Swans are a great footy team and will be there again soon.
as a north supporter we woulda done better

"you can coach poorly and win" - david king after brisbane won the semi final. "brisbane should explore sacking fagan for chris scott" - david king. "absolute silence" - David king after brisbane spanked the cats at the mcg in a prelim lmao
Im a Norf supporter and watched King's whole career and our GF wins, but Kingy needs to take the L and admit he got it wrong. Brisbane were very impressive and Fagan coached the perfect game. They demolished the team on top of the ladder all year and mentally broke them by half time. Fagan is a coaching legend.
Brisbane did not 'spank' the Cats. It was a see-sawing game in which, yes Fagan outcoached Scott.
Tosicc
Shut up
Great Tasmanian man is Chris Fagan.
Well done to Chris, staff, and brilliant by the players. From a Swans fan.

@richardbehan8118 thank you for joe daniher 👏
@@Yoshimitsu420 why you thanking me? I'm not the EFC
David King owes the Brisbane Lions an apology. I remember early in the season when the Lions were 0-4 he asked the question "have they missed the window and left one on the table"
He inspired them
I wouldn't listen to King. When has he been right? I know as a media person he has to have a 'different' opinion but I don't rate his at all.
He's just another clickbait flog that loves the sound of his own voice.
AT THAT POINT IN THE SEASON HE IS RIGHT BECAUSE THAT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE...
I don't rate king but at that point he was right to question at that time
You are a breath of fresh air Fages, so humble, just honest coaching, respect!
FFS, why can’t the AFL get microphones for the journos in these post-match interviews ?? It is incredibly unprofessional of the AFL not to get this sorted….it happens every week. C’mon guys, you’re better than that.
I can hear what they are saying. Too hard to pass the mic around I guess.
Are you surprised? They can't get the most important part of the game right, being the umpiring and rules. Yet you want them to be able to give their viewers full access after the game? 😂
@@richardbehan8118 you know you have a strong argument when you're blaming the umpires and the rules.....
@@shaunneal9981 maybe you should learn how to comprehend words. I'm not blaming the umpires or the rules. I'm blaming the AFL
@@richardbehan8118 sure thing bro, always someone else's fault.
Excellent young talent ! Father son always helps no doubt ! Well deserved
There is another one coming his brother in the draft who is even better. Good years ahead for lions
Will Ashcroft was my Norm Smith tip before the bounce of the ball. What an absolute rippa of a young man he is. If he didn't do his ACL, I'm sure Brisbane would have gone back to back. This kid is a future captain, multiple time All Australian, Brownlow medallist, and hall of famer. He's got a bit of Joel Selwood in him, but with cleaner footy skills. Will go down as one of the greatest players of this generation and possibly all time!
Chris Fagan deserves the keys to Brisbane City for this turnaround and success, against all odds. Well done Brisbane! My second team as a lifelong West Coast Eagles member. You bloody beauty!
You can tell how much the players love playing for Fages. Great coach and more importantly a great person who backs his players in and gives them more decision making for themselves.
Not super into AFL, but Fagan seems like such a genuinely lovely bloke that i'm happy the Lions won.
Wow 20 years old premiership player norm smith medalist and there adding a next Ashcroft next the competition next year should watch out
AFL love propping up the northern clubs
How are they propping them up with father sons?
Plus Coleman to come back. Apparently Levi Ashcroft is even better than Will. Marcus has done such a great job in preparing his boys for AFL. Can't wait for next year!
@@Spartan902 lions are getting a player better than a norm smith medalist could the Ashcroft boys be better than the daicos boys?

Him and his brother are gonna do special things for our club our future is exciting we know we've got what it takes and we are getting 2 of the best draft picks this year
Congratulations Chris you’ve worked hard for this
What a coach Chris Fagan is great win lions
Chris Fagan is a natural and decent block who tries to emulate anyone but stick to his own beliefs and philosophy and it’s wonderful he is now a Premiership Coach. Amazing teacher well

UP THE MIGHTY BRISBANE LIONS 🦁 YEEEEHA GOOD ONYA BOYS🎉🥳💯
I couldn't imagine the emotions as Will showed his old man that he's a Norm Smith medalist. His boy not only won a grand final as he did over 20 years ago, but was voted best on the ground. Marcus must have felt like the proudest dad ever.
Really looks like a top bloke.
As Carlton supporter all I can say is well done Chris Fagan and the Lions and I dearly hope we have a better run with injuries next season to mount a decent challenge.
Brisbane the pride of the AFL in 2024
I remember Fages saying in his 1st or 2nd year that he wouldn't be here for the next premiership! Glad he stayed!!!
Great game plan Fagan! Absolutely smoked the swans.
Sydneywobbles in full effect
Happy for Fagan and genuinely like the Lions as a group of players. Wish my Swannies could’ve put up more of a fight, but grateful it wasn’t at the hands of the Pies of the Cats (again)
Since the competition became National, Brisbane now have more AFL Premierships than Adelaide (2) and Port Adelaide (1) combined. More than Sydney (2) and GWS (0) combined.
And have the same number of AFL Premierships as West Coast (4) and Fremantle (0) combined.
Not bad for the “small” club from the “rugby league state” of QLD 🦁🦁🦁
Losing last years GF felt more like a luck for Collingwood rather than a deserved win and tonight cemented that thought for me, Brisbane have been up and ready for this moment for a while and they've got the victory they deserved. I can only imagine the "what if" they won '23, '24, and then '25 next year with the stacked list they still have in their primes.
You are dreaming - Collingwood had 50% more scoring shots than Brisbane. Bad kicking is bad footy - but that’s a lot of more scoring opportunity- even Fagan said so to McRae immediately postgame - just enjoy yesterday and stop living in the world of “what if”
Well, done Chris Fagan. Sydney were rabbits in the head lights. Inept performance all round by Sydney.
Premiers getting the best player in the upcoming draft too
@@tommygunn8355isn’t he an academy product as well?
I love that so many Queenslanders coming through the ranks to become top notch AFL players.

Less go Lions!!! Up another premiership next year!!!
The journalist that brought up about Hawthorn, after he has just coached a grand final, should have a look at himself 🤔
I think that journo just wanted to hear about the lows of 2023 compared to the highs of 2024. He didn't sound like he was trying to ruin Fages' moment.
You’d reckon we have the technology available to be able to hear the questions from the media to give context to the answers, but still, we can’t seem to be able to work it out.
Congratulations
I'm 40 years old, and one day, when I grow up, i wanna be like Chris
The youngest Nirm Smith Medal winner.Good on him.He has learned which direction to kick a footy & when.Imagine how well he'll go when he finds which way a cap fits. Yes,I say that with my tongue in my cheek ! Being a 74 year old grumblebum I still find it a puzzle when Aussies & others protect their collars rather than their facial skin. 🤨🤗
Protect his facial skin in the press room?
LomuHabana..... I'm of the old school of manners when you removed your hat when indoors.Clearly in these times manners don't matter.Go to a bowling club or RSL to see the fading manners still adhered to by seniors in those environments. Some younger groups laugh at proper manners.Me ? My parents taught me decency, manners & respect &,yes, sometimes I get laughed at.
Good on him
Congrats to the Lions BUT really; the Swans were again pathetic wilting faster than tulips in the desert; oh and a big shout to to the mouth of the harbour city Tom Papley😂
They were softer than big bad Barry in a boxing ring 😂😂😂
And they get the number 1 pick.
Well done lions ! But after the massive hype of this game being the greatest grand final in modern era it was all over by half time.Poor swans are going to take years to get over this.
The real grand final was Geelong vs Brisbane
Called that 3 weeks ago :P
@@desertwind666 called what?
@@lukemate2783 brisbane vs Geelong being the real GF, as soon as the finals were locked in this seemed the most likely outcome.
This just means now that finishing outside the top 4 it isn't that far-fetched to win the grand final these days! It'll give other teams going forward more hope to take on the finals from outside the 4
It’s still incredibly hard, make no mistake. Happened only twice ever I believe. 3/4 prelim finalists were the top 3, If Giants didn’t choke big time it would have been the entire top 4 that make up the last 4.
Brisbane were probably the best side ever to finish outside of the top 4. I don’t see this happen regularly in the coming years. Even though the AFL is as competitive and close as ever and is only getting closer and more competitive.
Suffering West Coast fan, glad Brisbane won it, David King has been very quiet since full time siren!!
I am not a Lions supporter. Though David King. Eat your words,. David King, who knifed two coaches at Nth Melb via his unbiased media role. When was the last time he actually said another positive about anyone? No one takes you seriously.. Well done to the Lions and to their coach, outstanding plan, out thinking thier opponents over the last 4 weeks. Yes David King 4 weekes of tough no nonsense football. I wonder if David King will be calling for Longmere's head? Suspect not they used to play at Nth together. Again congratulations to the Lions and their coach.
Crisatunity! Go Lions !
Sydney players are arrogant and nasty when they’re on top. They burned themselves having mentally played the game pre match with visions of victory.
I thought from the outset that Brisbane used the ball better than Sydney and that is how they won. They very rarely threw the ball on the boot and hoped for a good outcome from a 50/50 contest. Other teams should take note that all the work the team achieves getting the ball from the backline to half forward just to kick it up into the air (the old bomb it in) for a marking contest is an error, yep that's you Carlton and Port Adelaide.
Get Coleman back next year & the good Ashcroft, Roy looking good to back it up
Liooooooooooooooooons 🦁 you beauty !!!!!!
Congratulations to the Lions on being Premiers for season 2024. Yes for the second time in three years the Swans were again missing in action in a Grand Final. All the Fagan's critics are now "eating humble pie."

Some teams regroup, learn from their failure and bounce back after a Grand Final loss, other teams turn into a complete circus, miss the playoffs and use their coach as the fall guy. That tells a lot about the organisations
They had a lot of adversity this year and won the premiership. The club leadership is brilliant.
Every season is so unpredictable. U gotta make the most of the opportunities u get. Sydney were on top but I don't believe they were the best team. The fixture creates an illusion of who is the best team cause it's so un fair. Hence the absolute belting again on the big day

As a neutral supporter, i can't help but think that losinng, 4 × Grand Finals (3 by 10+ goals) in 10 years will create some demons in the Swans heads, in years to come, that will make them lose again on the big day!

Brisbane having been knocking at premiership glory for a long time as did Geelong hawthorn on there dynasty, if u keep knocking it eventually opens, Sydney are still very young it could make lead to them winning 3 in a row, Geelong with stevy n Chapman Ablett Bartel all those start they loss loss loss loss n once nick davis ended there season few years later then went to win 4 once they drafted Selwood Sydney only team apart from freemantl who have 2 picks inside top 20 in this years super draft I look at it as a positive Geelong never got to grand finals until they matured, anything can happen
They had alot of injured towards end of year n had to rely to much on heeney it takes a lot to go right to win a granny including peaking at the right time like fagan said they had 4 injuries but worked well for them loman came in morris ah Chee going forward, and I also blame Johnlogmire I personally don’t rate Ghik a coach. I mean leave out adams who has experience toughness n cane second to norm smith, in losing granny and yeah continues to play 3 talls amarty Logan n McLean also moves player around to much llyod goes wing def n yeah a lot cbf tying to much into 😅
