At 2:24 you do bishop takes b7 because it is threatening the rook which is worth 5 points while the bishop is worth three so he has to take but then qf5# is mate because the king cannot move anywhere and the queen is protected by the pawn on e4, so the bishop sacrifice is to divert the other bishop away from that diagonal so the queen can come in and checkmate the king

The history of chess goes back almost 1500 years. The game originated in northern India in the 6th century AD and spread to Persia. When the Arabs conquered Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world. Later, through the Moorish conquest of Spain, chess spread to Southern Europe. Chess, as we know it today, was born out of the Indian game chaturanga before the 600s AD. The game spread throughout Asia and Europe over the coming centuries, and eventually evolved into what we know as chess around the 16th century. One of the first masters of the game was a Spanish priest named Ruy Lopez. The earliest precursor of modern chess is a game called chaturanga, which flourished in India by the 6th century, and is the earliest known game to have two essential features found in all later chess variations-different pieces having different powers
