As one that was deployed to Kuwait during Operation Desert Thunder in 1998, I will wait for the southern part of the map to be available. Had I known that Iraq was going to drop this soon I would have passed on Afghanistan and got this instead, so I will giving this one a pass until it goes on a deep sale sometime in the future, we have enough high altitude desert maps as it is, time for them to do something like, JRTC at Ft. Polk, LA.
Would be cool if a MOD came out that could take all the overlapping parts of Sinai, Syria, Iraq, and Persian Gulf to create a Super map. You would also only need to recreate a small part of Turkey and Pakistan to include Caucuases and Afghanistan.
Desert storm seems like the perfect place for pretty much all the modern DCS modules. I hope Iraq is going to be a good map. If feel like all the new maps are some very interesting places. I how the multiplayer servers pick them up, as that is where i get most of my play time.
Here are my randon thoughts and observations: Iraq: Will I get it. Yes. Am I stoked? No not really, and I'm a Desert Storm vet. My SSD is getting VERY full of VERY BROWN MAPS. I honestly wish they would have released Iraq FIRST and I would have skipped Afghanistan. I really hate to say this, but Kola caught, and still has, my interest FAR more than either of these two maps. ED seems to be dancing around the places people ACTUALLY want to fly. Vietnam. Fulda Gap. Greenland-Iceland-UK. Alaska/Berents Sea. Eastern Europe. Even an upgrade to the Caucuses map to include whats going on in the Ukraine (They've been going at this long enough that I think folks could deal with a campaign there by now). I've noticed while there is MORE than enough map to cover what the Houti's are pulling in the southern area of the Red Sea map, nobody has done anything campaign wise with that, OR any of the conflicts that have taken place around the Suez Canal. And there's more than enough map to model what the Isreali's are up to now, when the dust settles and folks trauma goes down (not meaning to be insensitive, but these operations will become historical, eventually) ED/Razbam: For me, really, a non event. I own the Harrier, South Atlantic map, and HAD the F15E (traded it in for store credit and got Kola). Can ED survive without Razbam? Absolutely. Heatblur is every bit the equal, and in many ways ahead, of Razbam as far as premium aircraft go. And Heatblur treat their customers with more respect. But ED needs to tread lightly. I do ALSO think if they mess around and lose Heatblur TOO, then they're in a jam. I'm not sure what goes on behind the scenes, but it might be in ED's best interest to start.....nurturing.....coaching.....helping.....not sure what the right phrase is.....some of their smaller aircraft builders to get their products on the market. Am I on ED's "side"? No. Am I on Razbams "side"? No. I'd LIKE to see this come to an amicable conclusion for both parties. But I'm not holding my breath. If this was a minor spat it would have been done months ago Just my .02
Iraq map - This map offers a broader historical reference than the other DCS World post-WW2 maps (Persian Gulf, Syria, South Atlantic, Afghanistan and Kola) as it's period appropriate/of suitable utility for current aircraft modules and combined arms and the carrier. The map could afford the broadest campaign opportunities covering Iran v Iraq War, Gulf War 1, No Fly Zone, Gulf War 2, and the War on Terror against Al Qaeda and ISIS. Plus it border's Syria and Iran. The Pre-purchase full map discount price saves AUD$31.30, price being AUD$71.01. In light of the above, this map is likely to be the best value for money of any DCS World post-WW2 terrain (aside from the free stuff). Would it be asking too much to have the map align with the bordering Syria map and/or reach to the Persian Gulf map (is there interest enough to warrant a contiguous linking across the three maps that'd join the Med & Gulf)?
hello, the Iranian part of the map is almost all of it low res, be careful with that and there won't be winter textures. you can take a look at the FAQ at ED's page and see the map by yourserlf, you'll see a conspicous lack of air bases or airports in Iran (not even one to be honest).
forgot to add that I really wished they would show what it actually looks like and not this pre-rendered nonsense like what they did with the Afghanistan map, and for those that believe that it's not pre-rendered, the shrubs aren't popping up like it does in ALL of their maps. Unless I'm missing something in my settings, the shrubs pop up like prickly little hedgehogs (😋) at low-medium altitude.
Each to their own, the map looks amazing to me. I will buy it because it gives me a chance to go places I will never go, do things I will never do, in a machine no one should ever trust me in. Sure it might be a year or two before it's perfect but is it worth the price they charge? That's one only we as individuals can answer.
I actually like the Afghanistan map quite a bit. I think It looks pretty good for an EA map from various altitudes. I wont preorder Iraq but its a day 1 purchase I believe and im looking forward to it
Folks it takes YEARS to fully develop these maps. The Syrian map has been out now for what, 4 or 5 years? And it's getting very nice. When it was first released it didn't even have Cyprus and had low level mesh and detail. No different that what happened with the Afghanistan release. It too will get buffed up over the years. The Sinai map is really getting high quality. It's over 2 years now. So chill. Just like the Kola map, we will have lots of installments when they arrive. And the C130 is the module I want most right now. It was promised in the end of year video.
Sometimes I wonder what their trailer creator is smoking with Ukrainian Migs over Iraq and Eagles flying close formation with a B-52 dropping bombs lol
I don’t think a lot of the people criticizing ED for continuing to sell RAZBAM modules are considering contracts. I’d be willing to bet a lot of $$$ that ED is contractually obligated to continue to sell those Razbam modules since -although Razbam may not be getting what they want- they will still get much needed revenue. If ED COULD stop selling Razbam modules, it would be great leverage to force Razbam to concede. There are lot of complexities to contracts and contract law and many are complaining about actions for which they have no understanding of the basis.
Contract is voided the moment they don't send sales reports. Without sales reports, it is basically theft. ED can stop selling the modules, and should stop selling the modules.
@@NoBrainSilent There is no proof that they haven't sent sales reports. No other developer has had any issues with this, and it seems to be purely a RZ thing, which to those of us that know RZ from Flight Simulator, this is not a surprise. They left many people high and dry there, too.
You do know that the problem was ED wasn't paying Razbam, right?... Every dollar from the Strike Eagle went to ED. Then ED tried to say it was because of a breach of contract after 6 months of not paying Razbam their cut. That's what this entire nonsense is about. Continuing to purchase Razbam modules only puts money in ED's pocket, Razbam won't see a penny.
Have to say, you’re far more optimistic than me Prickly. The delay w the Corsair alone is a massive disappointment. I have little faith in Mag3’s ability to deliver. I wonder if the same problem between Razbam and ED exist w Mag3. Regardless, the delays are irritating to say the least.
@Allstar14234 I've been with the franchise for a looong time, so while delays are frustrating I think we've all moved into a position of wanting immediate gratification.
@@Pricklyhedgehog72 I would go with that however, the Corsair has been “in development” for years. At a minimum there should be some update to explain the status of development. This would go a loooong way to assuage the angst and temper expectations imho.
I thought we were promised the C-130 and the F-4u by the end of the year which is rapidly running out. it would be nice if ED would simply mention we are getting close to release at the end of 24 or early 25. instead of mentioning it years earlier and then not a word after. I'm not even mentioning the Hellcat and the Sky Raider. I think the days of getting your hands on maps and modules prior to release are over - possibly because of too many headaches and bellyachers. I have way too many maps and modules that are not finished, so it will be a wait and see, I was so disappointed with the Afghanistan map, I am done jumping on things. I will let ED catch up on all they offer but don't finish. That "Too big to fail" video was BS , this guy happens to mention a newcomer to the flight sim arena which is suspicious at the least, especially talking about no competition. Ed are no dummies they have their ear to the ground and can hear the thundering herd approaching. The fact that Nine Line kind of eased the pain a bit with his announcement of ED support for RAZbam modules is good news, and needs official endorsement by ED in a newsletter. I think Heatblur is a savior for ED. They are the strongest third party supporter for DCS, and hopefully the remainder will step up to fill the void left by RAZbam.
But as has been said countless times, nobody in ED is holding a gun to you head forcing you to buy stuff…I don’t agree with everything ED does, or their priorities on modules, but when early access is as easy as that to understand as a sentence, why all the negative feedback on things not being finished ? I am sure I can have my fun flying my helos around Helmand for a year or two before you join me on a more or less finished map. It would make for a nicer time reading commends and threads about DCS without all the negativity!

Excellent video as always. If RAZBAM do move on, let's hope they sell the MIG-23 to ED as DCS is still in need of more full fidelity REDFOR, or non-American military jets for DACT fights, e.g., Gripen, Rafale, Mirage III, Chinese J- aircraft, Sea Harrier, F-105, Buccaneer, SEPECAT Jaguar to name a few - there are still loads of 3rd, 4th, 5th gen aircraft (depending on data/doc availability to choose from - now its a case of can ED find more devs to accommodate??).
I'm holding off on this map until they add in the missing military bases like Al Udeid. If people want to land at civil fields, they're playing MSFS, not DCS.
Reading comments of people trashing Enigma... Meanwhile, the man single-handedly did more than anybody else (outside of ED) to promote DCS and attract more new paying customers to ED. I mean, really? 😓
Losing the F-15E, Mirage and Harrier WOULD be catastrophic, they are 3 of the best modules in DCS. Honestly, I wish ED had developed them themselves rather than wasting resources on the warbirds as much as I hate to say it. Losing the entire WW2 lineup would be less of a hit than losing the Razbam modules in my opinion, DCS started as Lock-On Modern Air Combat and modern combat is really its bread and butter. Folks will flame me but ED has made some bizarre choices along the way, should have left the warbirds to 3rd parties and focus more on its core. As for Enigma, he's always struck me as a bit of a strange guy with strange opinions and motives. He seems to have always wanted DCS world to be something its not and then complains when its not tailored to his desires. I think he's playing the wrong game, perhaps War Thunder would suit him better. Regarding Iraq, it'd probably be great for Combined Arms, just wish they'd give it a long overdue overhaul.

Polk, LA.
Put my flight sim gear to the side and picked up sim racing - loads of fun, mods are supported... highly recommend.
Nope. Not a cent more to ED until their dispute with RAZBAM is resolved. Don’t care who is at fault. Their customers deserve better.
"... based on what we can see so far." I can wait, to purchase something that I can't use for the next 2 weeks.
i would order NOTHING ! we have still 2-3 maps which are in use today. all new maps are just wasted money
Would be cool if a MOD came out that could take all the overlapping parts of Sinai, Syria, Iraq, and Persian Gulf to create a Super map. You would also only need to recreate a small part of Turkey and Pakistan to include Caucuases and Afghanistan.
Best sand simulator in existence 😂

Yet another unfinished, rushed product ? What's going on ?
Thanks for the update! PH - it's important to keep the House Commander HAPPY!!! v/r
NO NO NO. No more DCS products until we get the promised promised promised and promise again WWII Mariana Map!
Desert storm seems like the perfect place for pretty much all the modern DCS modules.
I hope Iraq is going to be a good map.
If feel like all the new maps are some very interesting places.
I how the multiplayer servers pick them up, as that is where i get most of my play time.
What I dont get is why they didnt expand the map slightly west to include all of Kuzestan, and then some low detail Iran for the Iran-Iraq war.
Here are my randon thoughts and observations:
Iraq: Will I get it. And there's more than enough map to model what the Isreali's are up to now, when the dust settles and folks trauma goes down (not meaning to be insensitive, but these operations will become historical, eventually)
ED/Razbam: For me, really, a non event. If this was a minor spat it would have been done months ago
Just my .02
LOL!!! DCS ...aka... _Desert Combat Simulator_ does it again! Oh my!
Pancake textures and meshes for hills just like Afghanistan, right? 😒 really wish ED would fix Afghanistan first.
forgot to add that I really wished they would show what it actually looks like and not this pre-rendered nonsense like what they did with the Afghanistan map, and for those that believe that it's not pre-rendered, the shrubs aren't popping up like it does in ALL of their maps.
Thank you for enabling ED's shitty business practice!
Well said.
Then get Flight Simulator for that, the terrain is hundreds of times better than anything DCS has, if we talk about scenery.
@@PolluxPavonis Can't blow stuff up in MSFS. That's why we fly DCS.
I actually like the Afghanistan map quite a bit. I think It looks pretty good for an EA map from various altitudes. I wont preorder Iraq but its a day 1 purchase I believe and im looking forward to it
Let's have the Iran mapping with military and nuclear sites identified. Seems much more useful. 😉
Did you see the wings on that Viper jiggle when he dropped bombs. Wow
I bought it. My only complaint is that I uninstalled the Marianas map already to give my SSD some breathing room.
Wish we could get an updated mirage 2000 with modern cockpit and weapons
im mostly interested in the northern area, Bahgdad etc, i wanna do Desert Storm/Northern Watch/OIF scenarios
Sometimes I wonder what their trailer creator is smoking with Ukrainian Migs over Iraq and Eagles flying close formation with a B-52 dropping bombs lol
Great! When will the map be available on Steam?
@@ImpendingJoker As long as the devs say they haven't gotten any, there seems to be an issue doesn't it ...
@Allstar14234 possibly. Same thing with the Kiowa though.
Don't forget the "And joining Redfor in 2024" MiG-29
But as has been said countless times, nobody in ED is holding a gun to you head forcing you to buy stuff…I don’t agree with everything ED does, or their priorities on modules, but when early access is as easy as that to understand as a sentence, why all the negative feedback on things not being finished ? I am sure I can have my fun flying my helos around Helmand for a year or two before you join me on a more or less finished map. It would make for a nicer time reading commends and threads about DCS without all the negativity!
@@tiger_1airsoft65 agreed, it's like buying a pre-production car and wondering why carpet wasn't installed and sound-proofing, and then filing a complaint with the manufacturer.
@@tiger_1airsoft65 I agree, and I'm following through with that.
Most of my comment referred to the curtain being intentionally closed so we are not allowed to see any of the future, despite what they have released potentially years ago. just asking for a bit more transparency.
@@Pricklyhedgehog72 🤣
After Kola and Afghanistan... yeah, no. Call me back in 2 years when it's actually decent.
Feel ED needs a mid-year update. The AB videos are expected in Dec/Jan and doing a Jun/Jul mid-year update on all modules in-development from 3rd parties as well as ED to get an intentional snapshot of what the consumers can expect on anticipated modules are at.
not beating the Edging Dynamics allegations.
Fifty shades of brown...
I don't know if you have the contacts but, if you do, could you create a status update video/interview with Leatherneck/Magnitude 3 regarding their DCS: F8J Crusader please?
@@relaxwithgriffin5393 ill see if I can check in with them.
A Bearing Sea and Aleutian’s map would be good……..
Ok...I just pre ordered the entire Iraq map, but when do we actually get it?
Don't care what terrain it is... just pre-ordered. I just wish DCS would hurry up with the global map thing. Wanna do longer range navigation practices along jet ways beyond DME arcs. I will pay quite a bit of good money for it.
ED said they no longer do content creator early access.
Have all the maps but mostly fly on Caucasus map. 🚁
Looks cool, but a map doesn't interest me until the performance improves (although its not horrible)
Good luck with the "Honey Do" list. We all have 'em and you can't get around it. ;-)
They could give a preview to everyone who buys it in advance.
That's what they call "early access."
@@Pricklyhedgehog72 more like the “try” option from the launcher was perhaps what was meant by the OP. That’s what I’d like to see. They seem to not do that for the new stuff.
Another cash grab like Afghanistan which i bought and now another unfinished map
I am proof of MSFS2024 people getting into DCS, MSFS2024 is a buggy mess so I got into DCS and haven't booted MSFS once since I am HOOKED!!
DCS is so much better I'm straight away heavily invested buying HOTAS and what not.
The learning curve is high but so much worth investing in, I'm here to stay. And regret I didn't get into DCS much sooner now.
Nope really unhappy with all these maps tbh Afghan massively disapointed why it is NOT done when it is a map that was alrerady done years ago is beyond comprehension and no excuses will really work on me with that I kinda want my money on Afghan back This split in 3 business and all that NOT needed waiting for what? I am not sure any excuse matches why they did afghan the way they did, Another desert map that should be done immediately to roll out now! and it won't be, Iraq Just no guyss Say no to Misery We got MSFS with REAL Graphs meanwhile the best we see is Afghan in 3 MSFS got the world map we gettin Iraq, it's becoming an issue the speed of which these modules take considered these are just Modules not even the world map is raising a question mark on me now
why type w/out instead of simply without
srry, jst 'cause
ED, solve the F15 debacle first, please. I am sure you can understand the communities apprehension to spend on another module.

No mention of Iran iraq border, not everybody wants to drop bombs on tents (Hard pass also)
Losing the F-15E, Mirage and Harrier WOULD be catastrophic, they are 3 of the best modules in DCS.
Prickly do you own any of the Razbam Aircraft?
What about those people that brought the Falklands map, im sure they were hoping to use the harrier with this to play a Falklands campaign
The F15 is an important aircraft for the Iraq map. Especially the role it played in desert storm. If those campaigns are created it should be there with the A10, F16, Tornado, Mig19 and the Helos
I hope for the sake of the people that have invested into the Razbam aircraft DCS do the right thing and maintain support
I own the F-15E, Harrier, Mirage, MiG-19 and the Sth Atlantic Map. I have not refunded any of the modules, as I don't believe this serves any particular purpose, and I don't think I paid for the map anyway, it was gifted as part of my help in promoting it upon release.
ED ran out of Avgas already?
About an hour prior to this announcement, on Friday, I was reviewing my DCS account wondering what I might use my ED miles for. 2 hours later, I saw this announcement and I had my answer. I get EVERY theater, and I try to pre-order.
Sorry, no Razbam solution so my Harrier and Mig19 are safe, no more money from me.
I don't see contacts on Caucasus, don't see them on PG, South Atlantic, Syria, Sinai, Normandy 2.0, and surely I won't see them on Iraq. Fix these first.
im confused, what map should i get if i want the whole map?
Caucasus.
@@dienicy Sorry i meant for Iraq

Iraq and an very interesting map, which is obe to pick up
But my poor dedicated DCS 1TB is running short , due to all the maverlous 2024 releases.
has anything ED released on early access actually been finished or "feature complete"? isnt the f18 still early access, and the game itself is still in beta technically? kind of a weird business model.. i think as a gaming community we need to move away from "early access" like we've collectively done with the terms; demo, beta, and trial version.
F-18 is out of early access
@@Pricklyhedgehog72 ok good, im surprised they dont ditch the earlyacess model and just release finished products for the big money so they can advertise and distribute, unless its a licensing problem where they dont have the rights to make money off of the us military IP
@@narachi- They wouldn't even make it if they didn't have the rights to sell it for a profit. One of the things that held up the OH-58D was the licensing from Bell to sell it.
i'm just speculating, but could the 'early access' model produce revenue for the third parties (much needed I'd guess for on-going development). If the third parties had to wait until each module was 'completely' finished, that'd be a helluva risk for small developers. I have no clue how it all actually works, but it seems like it might be a viable option?
