BECAUSE WHEN I DO GO THEIR, I'M GAME PLAYED BY SOME OF THE MEMBER'S, NOT BY THE SPANISH CHURCH, I SEE LOVE THAT YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND, CRISTO TOO ALL OF THEM...
These Griffin fleet looks fantanstic nice and elegant its now about 3/4 yers the launched these design line yacht but up to now nobody order one, while Feedship yacht builder gets many many order for new yachts every year can you tell why ?
As always another energetic down to earth video, could you please briefly shine a light on the cost of yacht insurance ranging from 66m to 99m, I'm sure the price is staggering, cheers.
Congratulations on the recent developments! It's a testament to your professional standards and quality of your videos you produce. I hope this is just a start. For the Q & A; Do you know of any costum sailing trimarrans being built (30 plus meter)? Thanks.
A question for your upcoming Q&A video, David. What are the performance and thus design constraints on a large (say 40 meter+ long) transoceanic powered catamaran or trimaran yacht? Presumably 1 deck at/below the waterline and at least 2 more decks above that , with the requisite toys storage, of course. :) There is obviously a market in the 10 to 15 meter range of catamarans, and you have featured at least one or two examples of ocean-going trimarans (a Latvian builder, I believe?); this seems a severely under served market segment to this member of the yachting ignoratti. Thanks, both for any answer you can provide, and for all the enjoyable videos you've produced.
Hi David, Another informative video... Great. I have a question for your questions and answers video... All these beautiful yachts have various art installations from fine paintings to sculptures and ornate vases and table decorations, my question is whilst these yachts are underway at sea what happens to these various items, are they taken to a safe place on board or are they actually held down onto the furniture in some way? This may seem to some to be a silly question, but it has always crossed my mind when i watch these videos. many thanks for all your hard work and dedication in bringing these yachts to those of us that will never get the opportunity to even get on board one, let alone own one. During this corona period in the UK, between you and AQUA HOLIC I have been kept seine.
How often are pools and hot tubs used on yachts? This Fincantieri Line has 3 water feature on each model. Wider has added the pool to their new models, to accompany the common hot tub. Along this line, often the hot tubs seem to be tiny. As if they are a desired feature to have but not use.
For your Q&A video: 1. Yachts are among the first assets to be disposed of when an owner faces financial challenges and at times this can result in a glut of yachts on the market and which I feel is already the case in some areas. What do you think will be the longterm outlook in this regard, will there be an increasing 'pool' of unwanted yachts and of older yachts which have been replaced with newer models by their owners who have then put their former yacht up for sale? Is there any way of 'recycling' yachts? 2. With so many changes taking place in our world, do you ever see a time when some will choose a yacht as their primary residence, what are some of the challenges with this and how could they be overcome? 3. What is your response to a client when they ask you to help them justify buying a yacht which they plan to use for three weeks per year? Is there anything about yachting and the business that you don't especially like?
a couple of more info: - fincantieri belongs to the italian government (>70% of the shares) - the owner of Serene sued fincantieri because he think that they used the project of his yacht to build the other one, Ocean Victory
Another informative video. Thank you. I have a question. If a person purchases a yacht with crew on it, is it customary for that crew to stay with the boat assuming the new owner needs crew? How does that work? It would seem logical to hire the crew already in place since they would theoreticlly be knowlegeable about the boat, its systems, and operation. Thank you and have a great day!
Ron Hunter basically the new owner of said vessel has an opportunity to "re hire" existing crew, or the owner might have a new Captain they choose. From there the Captain typically selects their own team.
Seanpaulnz01 most have closed in NZ. The Greg Marshall designed fleet of Explorer yachts have been good, just hard to compete with European countries. Check out Big Fish by Aquos Yachts & McMullen & Wing.
I have a question: One of my big dreams, is to become a Yacht Broker. At the moment i am Insurance Broker in Switzerland. So i do my experience. Do you can give me some advices for the future? I speak German, French, Italian and a bit of English. I think the language and the sale affinity is one of the most important skills to have, no?
Hi Dario, Language and sales ability are certainly advantages. Access to buyers and sellers of yachts is also essential, and a good general knowledge of the yachting industry.
Hi David, i have another question. Do you can recommend me a Book or a Magazine where i can learn the basics to become a Yacht Broker? Thank‘s for your answer.
Do you own a yacht yourself and question 2. Can you start telling us the prices of thes yachts or is that classified. Also you always produce great content and I hope one day to own one of these beauties.
nice video and beautiful yacht! when you have time i'd love to see a video about Performance yachts! maybe visit MANGUSTA and PERSHING shipyards!! thanks and keep it UP!!!!
Hi Look sup. I would love to cover Pershing, they are one of my favourite builders. I have already produced a promo video for a Mangusta that you can see at th-cam.com/video/uPEfT-4XrV8/w-d-xo.html and I have another couple in the pipeline...
Sweet video as always. As for the Q&A : Whats your take on the quality of brands that build "sports yachts" in the 20-30m range? Like the pershing 82, azimut s7, sunseeker predator...?
Nelzqtlolz Sunseeker is flipping the switch on their lineup. So presently it's hard to say what's going to be available new, down the pipeline. Quality is good on the Britsh builders...the Riva Pershing and alike....well they are a harder sell. Consider warranty and serviceability where you reside, also is the vessel US spec if your US buyer. IE: inverter installed. Lazzara is a pretty decent buy as they have US spec and servicing in Tampa. Currently the revamp of Maiora is where I'd put my money. As well as Mangusta is a solid bet, provided they offer new model in the sub 100'.
Whilst Sunseeker are probably the biggest brand, Azimut provide outstanding quality for the best prices. Sunseeker are amazing at what they do, however compared to Azimut and Pershing, they are far too overpriced
Finn Nicholson I disagree. Quality of build and service match with standard yacht pricing on UK built boats. IE Sunseeker/Princess. Where as the Service/Warranty department of Azimut and their quality of build is actually not that popular. Most who buy, cannot sell very swiftly in comparison. Marine Max in US has poor customer reviews from Azimut owners. I've seen the owner review video on a Azimut 45Fly. Not something I'd recommend to any of my clients in North America. Especially when a Sunseeker/Princess will resell faster and hold value better.
HEY! AS A BOATING PERSON & FORMER MARINE ENGINEER. I CAN SAY UNQUIVOCALLY! STATE! THAT ITS HIGHLY IMPORTANT FOR A YACHT TO B FAST! AS IT IS COMFORTABLE! OUT THERE IN THE OCEAN SPEED CAN SAVE LIVES! ANY COMPROMISE ON THIS A OCEAN GOING YACHT CAN B A LIABILITY TO THOSE ON BOARD! SHOULD THE BOAT NOT HAVE GREAT! SPEED & MANEUVERABILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SAFE OCEAN GOING! I'AM SAYING BECAUSE STORMS AND PIRATES @ SEA! WILL ALWAYS NEED SPEED AND HANDLING! LAZY DESIGNERS! HARDLY! BEEN ON THE CUTTING EDGE! OF THIS ASPECT OF HULL EFFICIENCY! NOWADAYS ALMOST ANYONE CAN MAKE A BOAT LOOK PRETTY! HOWEVER, PERFORMANCE IS ALL ABOUT ENGINES & CHINE DESIGN!AND JUST ALITTLE MORE!
Your videos, especially the walk-through action videos are great. (Question for future video) How did you get your start in the yacht brokerage business?
Hi David. Can you explain what the gross tonnage of a yacht actually means. Do the rules change when you exceed GT500 for example, Heesen base a lot of their 47m yachts on their GT500 hull. Thanks and keep up the great work.
I saw Ocean Victory in Trieste some days ago, too bad I couldn't get closer. I have a question about boat shows: I wanted to go to Monaco in September but the tickets are so expensive it would be cheaper to fly to Dubai in February. My question is: is the ticket price really reflecting the quality of the show itself, meaning that Dubai is 30 times less prestigious than Monaco?
! am lelnodot Yes. They are also aimed at different types of clients. Not only is the ticket price higher but so are the hotel rooms. The owner and crew often stay in a hotel if their yacht is part of the show. This way the ship yard can show off what they can build. The middle eastern clients prefer Dubai because of the culture. The same way that European and Americans prefer the luxury of Monaco.
DANIELMAND DK an endless supply of money you would need for a yacht like any on this vid. Even hundred millionaires could not afford these boats. At approx 1 million dollars per meter, times 64 meters = 64 million $. approx 15% of that per year for maintanance and insurance and crew = approx 8 million $ a year. These boats are for the 1% of the 1%.
Dear David ,I want my son into this world, sea.bythis way or that way.but I want him to begin with deckhand, you know beginning from deep down.also I want him to earn much money till 25. Then he can decide what to do.how can I find you to talk for a minute to get answer for my son,s future school or course?
Nice Video... As for the questions, I would like to know what you think about PalmerJohnson and their supersport design series. Personally I quite like their design but I haven't seen a lot of their yachts out their. Also I want to ask you what your opinion is on DAMEN's SeaXplorer. Have a nice day ^^
GuynamedGuz z They built many 120' and 150' yachts. They did themselves a disservice by switching off of Nuvalari Lenard design, doing the 148 super sport, and buying yard in Norway.
GuynamedGuz z The Move to Norway and the Death of Client whom hadnt signed build contract on mega Explorer yacht.. Resulted in them foreclosing and walking away from everything.
As an owner is owning a yacht really profitable if you charter it? I used to own a limousine company and I found I had to be there 24/7 to turn a profit. Is that the same in yachts.
Shane O'Dell what I will say...it's how creative you can be with the item you rent out. Yacht chartering only covers minimal costs...they average 8-10 weeks a year. Its those who can do daily activities who will gain profits. Ocean research, Life saving Aide deployment.
What i find interesting is, even yachts with a length of way more than 60m usually have only a small amount of tenders. And nearly no space to take normal cars with them. I mean, what does a super rich do when he reaches a harbour and wants to use his Lamborghini, Bentley, SUV,... Even the 117m Ulysses has only 2 Motorcycles and no space for a proper car to take it with it.
Elie, in this range you can expect to pay 1m €/£/$ per meter, hence 66m when it is new. Price will come down for used boats, like it happens for cars, houses/appartements.
You should really consider wearing a nice watch in your videos. Don't need to impress the average viewer, but do need to with those who can actually do business with you.
How much can one person afford to spend on a yacht with £10mil, £20mil, and £30mil to spend over 5 years? This is to cover all costs, wages, maintenance and fees. In other words I could afford to spend £10 million on a yacht but not to keep it for 5 years. What's my yacht purchase price range?
I would speculate that if you spent 10M on a yacht make sure that the sell price would be somewhere around that figure in 5 years. For instance; If the yacht is brand new (10M), it will loose value pretty quickly and in 5 years you can probably pick it up for 3-4M (if not less. Just depends on build quality and brand).... I myself am waiting for 1 to drop another Million before I pounce 😁 Oh, as far as maintenance it's said to figure about 10% of value but that can be misleading because of variables (1 or 2 engines, generators, electronics, water-makers and the likes). You would have to know when the last re-fit was and especially how current the electronics and/or sails/rigging (if a sailing yacht) then you can research to and gauge what and when to do your re-fit before your 5 year deadline... I'm no way an expert but these are the things I have found out so far in my search for the right yacht. Hope it helps 👌✌
As a lover of jetsetter boat ))) how can I contact with You.ı want to ask you A question about My son,s future.by the way I write to you from çanakkale/gelibolu.)))
David, even if you would win it, how would you maintain it? Maintaining a yacht (fuel, insurances, salaries, harbour fees,...) will be as costly. Or do you plan to sell right away and buy a 20 to 30m yacht instead? Just being curious.
To have a friend in this industry I choose you ,, thank you for being you.
I love the fact that your videos not only target your buying audience but also those whom are of a casual interest.
I love this guy! He is so relaxing to listen to. If I become a billionaire I will call David immediately! Find me a super yacht!!

Fantastic!!!
