Your attention to detail is great, and watching you solve the alignment problems with your cousins car gives me great insight on how I'll need to go about resolving my gap alignments when I get to that point in my build, thanks!
Thanks for showing us how you fix shoddy work Rob, great examples! I wish I could give you more than one thumbs up!!! You should find the shop that did the work on your cousin's car and hand out business cards to their customers so they could come to you to have everything fixed that was not done correctly. Looks like they could provide you with a lot of work.
I do know who did it. It amazes me that any shop would do this kind of work. Lots of missing parts too. It's a good thing you and I do our own work. Lol
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to show how you do the work you do. I hope youtube is paying off a least a little. Please know the heartfelt gratitude towards you and your efforts regarding these Tri5's. Yours is the most anticipated channel I watch. Thanks again.@@haffrods7055
It's all in the details. You are very meticulous and innovative. Why do they call these cars shoe boxes when you really have to think outside the box.😂
You sure you never worked for Kendigit? Your craftsmanship is top shelf man. All along I'm thinking, well at least it has the correct 55 chevy tear drop antenna! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Honestly, this reminds me of the "off" things that I have come across on min that made me wonder why it was done a certain way. Like front fenders not removed for paint. Some rear chrome around the smaller window in the back no removed. Expensive paint job by a shop that only worked on tri fives. Mind you it was early 90's.. Then finding a bent connecting rod in my engine. Only had 1000 miles on it. Shoddy work but will take your money.. glad I'm working g on it myself and now I can only Blame myself and or know what should be done when I have to outsource. Nice to see what you are doing. Helps keep me in line.
Rob, you definitely know what to do and how to fix the panel gaps properly. Good Stuff! Good money was spent for "Butcher" Assembly. Welcome to today's world. I was thinking the easy fix may be to loosen the cowl vent and shim the center portion to help close the gap. Or how about a phone book placed on the hood and gently tapped down to align the high spot?
You skipped the video I guess. I did shim the cowl screen. I do not want to try to bend a painted hood. A phone book is a great idea but if that paint cracks, I'd have to pay for the repaint.
@haffrods7055 Thanks so much for the info on getting the grill fitted properly. Mine has fit terribly since i installed it a decade ago! Time to get to grinding and get it nice looking.
Here is an Idea if your over heated eat some cold Watermelon 🍉 I did that yesterday. I had just mowed the lawn it was close to 100 💯 degrees so with in about 10 minutes I cool down and felt great.

Yes, and these aftermarket flippers had me worked up today. I whipped them though. Lol

That's true on thinking outside the shoe box. Lol
Great video Rob! Hard to believe that kind of work gets done at a shop.
These cars are very challenging to get lined up. It's always amazed me how they did this on the esembley line back in the day.

The shop wanted him to shave the antenna. Lol.

I have watermelon in the fridge. So refreshing
like you said it's a can of worms. It'll be way better once you're finished with it
You got to do your gaps before you paint it everybody should know that
