The programme that they were actually referring to was Q.E.D.- A Guide to Armageddon.
It was where the matter of fact/documentary style of Threads took much of inspiration from. The whole Q.E.D. episode is on TH-cam if you want to react to that at some point as well.

Charlie Brooker loves video games and actually started out as a video games reviewer.

11:25 I did wish the Edgar Wright film The Sparks Brothers (which is great) came with the warning ‘Contains scenes of Noel Edmonds’

There's an old Guardian article about how Deal or No Deal is like a cult, and it's fantastic if you can find it
Also Ben Goldacre is a superb man.

Space Cadets is a hell of a thing to watch and definitely wouldn't work if it was made today. People are a lot more clued-in with the world and technology these days. It's surprisingly entertaining. It's kind of a mix of Big Brother, The Truman Show and Candid Camera, with Derren Brown shenanigans to choose the cadets and influence them throughout the hoax.
They auditioned people who want to go in to space, and by using various different psychological tests & assessments, they choose a group of the most susceptible, gullible, ignorant, naive & innocent ones that have a tendency to go with the crowd, and train them on a Russian military base (actually Suffolk, England) to go into space as the first British televised space tourists. The top cadets would be the ones to go into space for 5 days.
They're told that as cosmonauts that they will fly in low-orbit to make it a bit more believable. Also to make things more believable, 80% of things they're taught/trained on are legit, but some things are ridiculous to make them look silly and to cover holes in the things that scientifically (and budget-wise) aren't possible - Using both tactics to help make the hoax believable by influencing them and misdirecting them. The buildings and supplies were fully customised & imported from Russia to make it appear as if they're actually there, and everyone they encounter are actors. Three of the cadets are also actors to make things more convincing to the real contestants and to steer things back if the others start catching on that it's a hoax. The shuttle cockpit used was made for Deep Impact and also used in Armageddon and Space Cowboys so was high quality enough to make it convincing.
It was presented by the great Johnny Vaughn, written by Giles Boden (lots of popular shows, especially for Alan Carr & Harry Hill), with help from Ben Caudell (Peep Show, Toast of London, Screenwipe, Vicar of Dibley, Harry Hill projects, Philomena Cunk & other things you've watched), Annabel Jones (most things that Charlie Brooker's done, including Black Mirror, A Touch of Cloth, Dead Set, How TV Ruined Your Life, How Video Games Changed the World, Weekly Wipe Screenwipe and Philomena Cunk shows), and Richard Osman (a million things) who you may know.
It ran for 10x 48-min episodes. All of them are on TH-cam. It also had a sister-show called "Space Cadets: The Satellite Show" that aired along with all 10 episodes that discussed what had happened in the episode that just aired, showed behind the scenes stuff, interviews etc.

Highly recommended 15 stories high. Think twice about threads though, it’s grim.

The Wicker Man was mentioned here, which is a fantastic film to react to. The first horror film I ever saw and probably the most unsettling, imo. But it is brilliant, with Christopher Lee at his absolute best.

I don't get the addition of Jill dando's death @ 7:37 it's not funny and comes across as disrespectful and in poor taste, I don't know what he was trying to convey there?
