Perfect Tutorial, and super easy. I tried to update to 2.0 after I bought the camera but I could never get it to work. It didn't respond like the tutorial and there were no suggestions to fix it. When you instructed to go to "Resources" when your camera didn't automatically start the update, which was the same issue with mine, everything worked perfectly. Thank You!

I was reading an article stating that you had to use the multiport not the USBC. But it seems that you got it to work. And also that you had to use the original cable from Sony that came with the camera
The multi will not work with this update, it will turn the wheel into a zoom function. The usb C/B will use the follow focus function, that's how it works in the a7iii series. Yes, the original cable always works, 3rd party ones sometimes don't.
I went and tried it out today on a shoot, worked perfectly! The only problem I seem to find is that if the model tilts her head to 90degrees, the face detection doesn't recognise her. It was great meeting you today Faruk!
Clarke Smith Dear Clarke, I was using the usb-c cable, it will only fit into the usb-c hole. However, from what I am aware you can also use the other multi usb hole, there will be no difference in how the update is installed. The usb-c one I used is shaped like a hotdog, long and smooth round edges. Hope that helps!

Do you have a tutorial on pairing the a7rIII with an iPhone using Play Memories?. The tutorials I've seen use the a6000 screen and I end up having the same issue of. not being able to complete the pairing. Much like what would have happened if you hadn't referred me to the Resources folder. Just curious.
btw, My Canon pairing was simple and even someone as technically challenged as myself was able to manage. Then I sold my Canon gear for Sony and not such good luck. Love the camera and G-Master lenses, but I need more Tech help. So thanks!
It should be as simple as connecting the camera via the usb cable and running the software. Maybe the cable is broken somewhere? Have you tried a different cable?
@@PhillipSkraba No dear the cable is perfectly fine, as when I connect it to the MAC it connect with the other programs and work fine for other sony programs to do remote shooting.
@@PhillipSkraba Well it stop when I make the connection and then it start checking the camera & computer software, after some time it says it does not able to connect to the camera and asked me to remove the batter and start over again and this keep on going again & again, now I am thinking to do it over the window 10, I hope it will work with the windows, let's hope it will work.

I was able to use the LaCie usb-c cable, was it the usb micro you were using? I love the update too! Makes shooting models so much faster and precise! Birds would be very interesting to test out!
@@PhillipSkraba usb-c made by luxshare didnt work the usb-c made by sony worked.they both look the same and the luxshare cable is the one ive been using to charge the battery.I only tried changing cables because i read it on a forum and i ran out of ideas,but that was the problem it wasn't a Sony cable.strange.

Why, oh why can so many English people NOT pronounce the letters "TH". It is so annoying. A7r Three, not free......Other than that the video was great.

What cable are you using to connect your camera? Try a usb-c to usb-c if you can. Did you choose the correct download as someone mistakenly tried to use the 7RM3 update instead of the 7M3 update. Let me know how that turns out!
Phillip Skraba found issue, every like I’ve seen from videos or email notifications took me to the A7R3 and not the A73. That plus your battery needs to be above 75% too.
@@zackallen8759 Yes, an easy mistake to make, those model numbers look so similar it's insane! Great tip about the battery, I didn't know that, I just made sure I had 100% on mine as I'm always so freaked out about my equipment turning off during an update.

Can you jump from firmware 1.0 straight to most recent which is 4.0, or must update to say 2.0, 3.0 and then finally 4.0
For some reason when i plug my camera in the program doesn't detect the camera? The computer does but program does not. Its brand new and is on 1.0
I'd check the cable, I had that with a bad cable once. Try usb C and usb multi.

how long depends on the usb connection. mine only took 5 mins or so
Were you using the usb-c or usb micro connection? Mine was fairly slow for both the A73 and A7R3 updates at 12:30 minutes.
