Literally just went through the same ordeal for over an hour... Worth noting.. My issue was that when I was hooked up to an external monitor I wasn't getting the security notifications to allow Sony to access my mac... Once I disconnected my monitor and hooked up the camera directly to the laptop I got it done in one try..

Hi, my a7r 3 is on version 1.0 and it will not update... camera says mass storage on screen but no computer will update it. program doesn't recognise it...

@@ImJasonAnthony Would be interested if you could explain how the auto exposure balance works in the new intervalometer. Specifically, is it good enough to shoot timelapse in, say, aperture priority or would you forego the auto exposure balance and still shoot timelapse in manual mode. Thanks!
@@flyhighx I can check that out for sure, for all my timelapses that I've shot I've always done manual. I've done some holy grail's before in both aperture priority and manually. I think it would be cool showing how I approach my landscapes and then tools I use for post processing like dodge and burning shadows, basic corrections in light room and then coloring and sharpening in PS. @@HBChandler I got it to work following the Sony instructions. At 04:21, instead of unlocking the padlock, , go to "general" and press "allow" for Sony access in bottom half of the panel. Then it worked for me.
Update as of today: you may need to follow these instruction along with this video. Go to System preferences> General> and App Store and Identified developers. This will allow that crazy pop-up to go away like in the video. After you do the steps in my comment resume the video and you're golden.
Thanks, but for me the unlock privacy settings did not prevent the checkbox from keeping popping up, and I can't connect the camera... Sony is a complete shitshow when it comes to their online services!!!
Sony upates for A7SII do not work at all and their method for a problem on OSX 10.13. 6 doesn't work either. Typical Sony. Sony are the worst company ever for any after sales issues. They have ZERO support and thank god I use Linux for most work because Apple are even worse.
