This is the middle organ solo in the 2nd movement, a near approximation to how it sounded during Deep Purple's first recording of their Concerto; Sep 24, 1969. I have tried my best to faithfully copy the original organ solo, as I heard it.
Back in August 2020, I recorded the Concerto Organ solo on a Hammond XK-1c, single manual organ keyboard. Now 3 years later, I record it on a Hammond XK-5, double manual keyboard, and I think the results came out better.
If nothing else, the second manual offers a little more freedom and room for both hands, on separate manuals. - เพลง
Great! 👍
Thank you so much for your kind words & show of support.
Beautiful sound and performance!👍👍🎼🎶 Greetings.🙂🙏🙏
Why thank you for checking out my channel and commenting. I’m flattered.
Great playing and love that Hammond!
Thank you.
And thank you for taking the time to listen.
Brings back many memories - great playing and awesome sound! According to the plug at the back of the organ, you're playing through a Leslie, right? What Leslie and how did you record (with several mics or with a kind of Zoom ambient recorder)?
Hello, and thank you for your kind words. Yes, the plug is an 11-pin Leslie cable, and it's plugged into a Leslie 2101. It's a smaller cabinet, but still has a pretty powerful sound. If I play out, I do have to mic it. There are limits to its volume, before it hits its overload point, where a red light comes on to warn me not to push it any further.
I used an iPhone 11 microphone-- the condenser mic that is built into the phone, so it's ambient sound straight from the Leslie in the room to the phone. Not a real good set up I'll admit, but it works until I figure out what DI box XLR to a digital recorder I want to try to use. That's a project for later no doubt. Thanks again, and glad to hear you enjoyed it.
I tried to capture the essence of the original Sep 24, 1969 recording in London, that fateful Tuesday night; by memorizing and playing by ear, what it was I heard on the original album. The only place where I stray a bit, is at the end.
@@B3burner Thanks a lot for your reply and the information. It really sounds very authentically, and I’ve listened to "the concert" at least a hundred times over the decades. The recording via iPhone is remarkably and catches this 1969 vibe very well.
