Hey there - congrats on your new Hammond! I’ve been agonizing lately between an SK1 (have a new one I can get for less than retail been sitting in a small store for years) or an XK-1C (if I can still order those); I know the pro is far newer and better, but might be a bit out of my budget. Any thoughts on the SK1 vs the XK1c would be super appreciated!

Thank you, and sorry for my late reply. I would go for the XK-1c over the SK1. Just in terms of sheer age and the fact that I believe the XK1-c is newer. How many years newer I do not know exactly. UNLESS the sk1 has alternate keyboard sounds, then maybe I would consider it, if that's what you want. Bear in mind the XK1-c is an organ only, but it's very good at what it does. So far in the 3 months I've had the SK Pro, and the time I've had to tinker with the chorus/vibrato settings, I actually think the C3 chorus sounds better on the XK-1c, than it does on the SK Pro... if you can believe that.
Take it all for what it's worth... I'm only 1 opinion, but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask away. Good luck in your search.

@@B3burner Hey thanks for all that info! The SK1 was 2011, the XK-1C was 2013 so I guess they're both getting on a bit; the Sk1 does have extra sounds, but I think the XK-1C has an improved organ engine. I don't really need the extra sounds so I'll probably hunt for an XK-1C. Thanks again!

Well, I wouldn’t say I got it that much cheaper than retail, but I went through Sweetwater.
You might be able to find one marked down on Reverb, but then it’s used or was a demo model. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but know what you’re going after and any pictures of the surface check for scratches.
The reason you won’t find too many of these used or marked down, is at 2.5 years old… they haven’t been around long enough yet, for people to want to replace them.
Plus as you well know, I’m sure, it’s an excellent board given all it can do. It’s replacement hasn’t been thought of yet!
