Good explanation boys. A couple of questions, does that wall plate span across both skins of brick/block work. Is it worth putting down some DPC below the wallplate stop the timber soaking up moisture from the mortar mix? Also was that you singing to Bieber? And you need to work on them jokes ;). Keep up the great videos lads. Maybe with a future vid you could do a quick walk around a simple extension and talk about the various building aspects to conform to building regs?

+Zed Man Hello mate, The wall plate only sits on top of the inner skin blockwork. The roof joist then sit on top of that wall plate and are then nailed to it whilst over hanging the out skin of brickwork which then allows for your facial and soffit boards to be attached to. No it's not really worth putting DPC under the wall plate because the timber is tantalized and once the mortar dries no more water or moisture will penetrate the timber itself.
Trying to sing ye :) That was the first time the lads heard those jokes, I promise :)
That's a great idea, when we get a chance were do a video that explains all regs, cheers for the feedback and spread the word, were going to hit it hard this year with videos of all sorts.
