Hi Kyler, I am watching one of your videos for the first time. Nice how you teach the basics and you get to the point very quick. But when watching, I found that you miss some important parts, and even explain core features wrong. I think many of your viewers take it for granted, that you know what you are saying and then do it in the same way. Being a VFX supervisor that is tricky, because when you learn it the first time, you wanna learn it the right way. For example showing a planar track and doing it with a 3d tracking system. Of course the monitor and the wall are not in the same 3d position, therefore the track will simply not work. And if the monitor would be in the same position, you would not get a 3d track result :) (except you would do a nodal track, or film it from a nodal tripod) As your wall is pure white, you hardly see the drifting, but many of your subscribers will simply be frustrated when trying this. Why not track a wall with feature points and use them? Or simply do a 2d track, as you are only doing a planar track? I really hope you don't get me wrong here. I really love that so many people get addicted with AE and I have seen it so many times, that they get addicted and then they get frustrated in the same speed... so again: thanks for spreading the love for AE!!

Quick question: Why do you press "s" to scale if you can just do the same in the "transform" function you use shortly thereafter?
It's my personal preference. :) I like using keyboard shortcuts whenever I can to speed up the editing process!

It would look better with tracker points painted on the wall, it won't slip.
And with Mocha.
And change the blender mode to look more natural. And turn on motion blur.
And it doesn't look like on the wall, but just above the monitor. You should push the Z space of the solid, much further.
Totally agree with everything you said! I love using mocha and actual track points!
@@KYLERHOLLAND And you forgot to mention that the green tracker points are the most accurate.
Maybe you didn't know that either...
Don't choose the red ones, they are the least accurate.
If we dont have a white background layer but something else, how do we make it transparent?

Yes! That is exactly what you can do! Play with blend modes.

Hey Kyler, i have a hard challenge for you, what if we want that camera tracking on a clip which already has a speed ramp on it? This clip is in Premiere Pro and exported as hyper link to After Effects. ;) How can we do that? ;) But without exporting this clip as a video out from Premiere Pro.
I would try nesting that clip you would like to apply the tracking to and them use dynamic link. Sometimes speed ramping can cause issues without nesting.
@@KYLERHOLLAND thank you for responding...but if u nest it the Videoclip with timeremaping is quit long in After Effects. I already did that. Anyway, u never made such a tutorial. Please can you show us how to solve this problem? That would be realy awsome. :)
2:10 when i drag the plane to somewhere it doesn't stick to surface anymore.it keeps moving.
You have to mask the layer and keyframe it each frame

steps missed :/ after deleting the green stuff you fail to mention how you attach this to the solid / sequence
This thing doesn't work, it keeps moving. I should have known from the clip where you never show the final result.
