Sure but what's he financing? He's obviously underwater, the 10k of extra depreciation puts him further underwater. These vehicles are preposterously expensive, having 4 preposterously expensive vehicles is lunacy.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the vehicles. About 4-5 years ago you called me out for complaining about the cost of these vehicles that keep becoming more and more expensive, and the quality does not match the cost increase. You said "if I'm complaining about the price it means I can't afford it", totally untrue. Fast forward to today, you are a bit older, a bit wiser, and have a family. Clean clean frame. even had a newish BP51 suspension. 4 months in. got oil changed. was told cam and crank shaft seals leaking..and..found out oil pump was leaking.. paid $20k for truck. had spent $2k on some body work and $1k on headlights and now found i needed $6400 in oil leak fix for "the most bullet proof car ever" ..only person i'd trade that dump too is the dealership who sold it to me "Blue Star auto group" Longmont CO. what a screw job. even for bullet proof engines. get it checked out by mechanic.

I experienced this scenario a few months ago. Brought my wife's RX 330 into the dealer for a routine oil change (Lexus of Greenwood Village, CO). I always expect them to find more service items, but was not expecting them to quote me ~$5,500 to replace the "leaking" valve covers and main seal. The service advisor counseled me by saying if a repair is more than $5K, then it probably makes sense to trade it in on a newer car (ostensibly, off their lot). I was a bit surprised how quickly my routine service appointment turned into a proposal to trade the car in, and suspicious that the repair job just so happened to be more than the trade-in threshold. Something didn't smell right to me, because there were no wet leaks on our garage floor. I passed on the dealer's proposal and took the RX to an independent shop (Toy Car Care in Centennial, CO). TCC confirmed the valve cover leaks, but found no evidence of a main seal problem. I had them do the work ($1,000, including oil change) and its been running great with no signs of a main seal leak. I can't prove it, but I believe the dealer was not acting in good faith. I get it. Times are difficult for car dealers, but instead of coming clean with customers, many (most?) are using all manner of tricks, like scaring service customers with a huge repair bill, to score a good used car on the cheap. I did send an email to the dealership's General Manager, but never heard back. I am in the market for another Lexus, and thankfully there are more than a few other dealers in the area to choose from.

Hey Ben! So you should consider putting it up for sale in the private market and find your buyer. Settle on a purchase price. But don’t sell it yet to the buyer. Now you need to work with a friendly dealer to buy something new. Include the trade in the deal. You tell them what you want for your SUV (the settled price) because you already have a buyer ready to go. Negotiate that into your new car purchase deal. You have your buyer meet you at the dealership where they can purchase the vehicle at the pre-negotiated price.

Regarding your electrical/airbag issues, was the windshield ever replaced? Many issues can incur due to leaks that plagued the driver side sill area where a plethora of electrical run. If it was replaced, you may have a claim with those who sold it and others who replaced the glass. It’s critical that, not only OEM Glass is used since it’s much thicker, but it’s installed correctly. Personally I don’t advise giving up on the Land Cruiser. Ben, we just sold our LandCruiser. It sold for high book on the 3rd day of listing. You might do the same if you are willing to list it on Autotrader or the like. Dealer offers are usually not the way to go unless you are shy about selling it outright. Mine has the same engine as yours and the 6 speed auto. It gave 98k of trouble free life and the interior still looks great, it drives like new and everything works. We also own 4 cars with one to deliver and two on the way here. In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to have 4 or 5 vehicles that are built for the same purpose like you have. We have a Landcruiser (Sold the old and just ordered a new version), a Lexus convertible, a Toyota Tacoma TRD-Pro, a BMW M2 and just ordered a Lexus RX350 Hybrid. One is for camping, two are for towing boats/ATV's/jetskis, one is for a road trip anytime but winter, one is for flat out driving fun, one is for hauling a quad/dirt/garbage and one is for cheap travel. Your channel may dictate that all are offload SUV's, but most people are not willing to pay for the insurance and gas on a fleet of large SUV's. I do hope you have happy car trading experiences though. My advise is to diversify. Initial price is cheaper, insurance is cheaper in most cases and you'll have variety to experience.

Then by the time I'm 65 in 2.5 years, I will have my F-150 and her CX-5, both low-mileage, paid off, and would have eliminated over $1,000/mo in car payments. The wife has a 1996 Lincoln Town Car Cartier 110K on the clock. They were paid off years ago. I just spent $1,900.00 for top end old leaks on the GMC and it's good as new again. That repair was one or two car payments in this day and age. The truck and 4Runner are fully covered with Progressive auto insurance for a whole year. The Lincoln is insured with Hagerty Classic Auto Insurance for 10K total loss vs. fair market value. Your complaining about gas prices but your 70-80K each into four autos. What's wrong with a used Camry and a V-6 Tacoma? You need to dial it back and get those car dealers out of your pockets. I'd private party sell what you have at retail. Your upside down to trade in with a dealer. He'll just flip YOUR loss into his pocket. Good luck.

Wild hearing how hard life is with a stable of cars worth ~$300k. Indeed, "Cars are too expensive and no one is buying" but fortunately, people like Ben are around to keep the OEMs a float.

Just traded my 2015 TRD Pro 4Runner (one owner 130k miles) for a new First Edition. There definitely is a noticeable difference with the powertrain. But overall it's a more modern vehicle that will take me into the future more comfortably.

So much for the vaunted Toyota reliability ahe? Listen, you have multiple $50-100k ish vehicles (brand new), there isn't any way out of them without taking a significant hit, especially with what's happening in the car market right now.

I suggest writing down your losses in vehicle sales/modifications you did before selling vehicles ect, and trade ins over the past year. I bet it will quickly add up to the down payment for a second house or something else that could lead to more financial freedom for your family instead of depreciating assets just my 2c.

If you dont like the car, prolly not gonna change. Cars have never been an investment....for me. btw - 2.0 T 4 in my 24 Willys, replaced 22 Wrangler Rubi with same, Love Turbo 4's. Cars are not all equal. I love ppl who are like "this brand is the best"... the problem is these cars are made by humans on any day of the week. Case in point my brand new 22 LC 500 came to me from the factory LOADED with issues that not all were resolved and that is their premium model. To put it blunt i was and am very upset by it.

You are talking about power band. The 4 cylinder makes more powe at its top rpm. But the v8 makes more power in its whole curve. I own 3 cars. Well 2 mustangs and an excursion. I work on my vehicles. I paid about 11k for all 3. All run and drive perfect. I couldn't imagine monthly payments. That's a lot of mods.

There are more and more YT channels with problematic Tacomas, Tundras, GR yaris with blown engine..... Toyota has been losing their quality edge for a while. Keep both Land Cruisers and you’ll thank yourself later. I was 5 min into your great video and thought **rather young-ish** man if my wife and I could BOTH drive land cruisers that would be ‘gangsta!’ But seriously, jeeps and broncos will always be around for the next couple decades. 300’s? Who knows! Keep the LC’s and you won’t have depreciating nightmares. Thanks for reading my rant. 😊 7:33

Love your content Ben, but losing some money on it should not be a problem based on the amount of vehicles you flip. Buy one or two u like and just enjoy them with your family! Make memories with them! That’s where your real value is! 5 years from now none of those cars will even matter! I plan on keeping my 22 5th gen TRD pro for an awhile and driving everywhere and stickering up that rear window until it tells its own story! You have great taste, mostlly….stick with made in Japan…..👍👍
