They started calling him white chocolate in high school. Fun fact, Randy Moss was his 2 guard in high school. A lot of people thought that Moss was a better basketball player than football player. Also it's funny that you mention he looked like Mike Bibby. Bibby was traded to the Kings for Jason Williams.
This was an excellent video. Thank you for posting it. Great reaction. The court looked like a bee hive with all honey bees, and here comes J-Will like a wasp, flying this way, and then that. Unreal.
Very very nice intertaning video he is one of the best passers ever he pistol pete magic kid and so many more your site is very nice thank you for sharing this classic video 💯💪
Pistol Pete and Bob Cousey did that move before JW and Rondo. I've been watching basketball since the 70' and have seen all the greats play. My favorites watching live were Jordan, Bird, Kobe, Dominique, and Nash.
JW always had the White Chocolate name because he was smooth and sweet, they just didn't say it on TV for some reason but newspapers called him that. Darryl Dawkins got his name Chocolate Thunder because he shattered backboards
As a WV boy I appreciate this video. We are big basketball fans here dating back to the days of Jerry West. Williams is prob the 2nd best player to ever come from here. But remember his and Moss's team didn't even win the state title so we ball hard here regardless of what people might think.
They act like J Will was a white dude who played like a black guy, but no one any color played the way J Will did in the NBA, people do this stuff in And1, but aren’t able to pull it off in the nba, case in point the one dude from And1 who made the nba but wasn’t able to play that way once in the nba, he couldn’t get off dribbling and passing like he does in And1 while playing in the nba, only Jay Will has been able to outside of an exhibition all star game while playing in the NBA. So while not as great as say a John Stockton, he was in that street ball or And1 way, the flashiest and best to ever do it at the highest level regardless of color, and honestly the closest thing to him was another white guy in Pistol Pete… and he started for the championship winning Heat and made several all star teams while with the Kings
Facts, except for Rafer Alston. Skip 2 My Lou could do whatever he wanted handle-wise on the court, and every opponent knew it and feared getting their ankles broken on the nightly Top 10.
They say this about Bird, Pistol, Doncic, Jokic, Dirk etc etc even though they were better and smoke the these foals. Everyone copied them not a blk lmao
I Love White Chocolate Best Tasting & Sweetest One. Don’t like dark chocolate it’s the worst one it’s so sour and bitter tastes awful but most don’t like it anyways.
Tru indeed he might of invented it but jwill mastered it and took up a different level jwill handles was way better than pistol Pete because he was quicker and fast er and way more fluent and crisp a with his handles n passing too and the difficulty was next level Hubie brown said it legendary coach as older that pistol Pete he said it best pistol Pete wished he could do what jwill did
Couple things: 1. They started calling him White Chocolate in his rookie season. 2. He had a 3pt shot that rivaled Steph Curry but he rarely displayed it. Much like the dunk. 3. He was completely UNGUARDABLE and could literally average a double-double however, he didn't.
I wanna see J Will and CC doing a bit on ESPN, duo white chocolates. He could boost her game and she's already pretty friggen legit for being a rookie.
he did 10 years before Rondo, and did it better than him. But Pete Maravich did it first. Besides maybe Kyrie, Williams had the best handle of any player, ever
Don't get me wrong he did his own thing having amazing handles. He did state he learned a lot from Pistol Pete and Larry Bird, as well as playing street ball. Bird also played street ball.
It’s weird how generationally we all act similar. This current generation getting wowed by JWill is like my generation being introduced to pistol Pete for the first time. It’s a beautiful thing to appreciate the past
That’s because the announcers were to white to be calling him white chocolate, it was ether the other players particularly the black players and the fans calling him that.
😂😂 how you going to say you don't know who did it first when jwill was playing in the league before rondo was in high school nothing jwill can't do when it comes to handles and passing one of best to do them two things sound just like a Democrat 😂😂😂I don't know who did it first what you just watched a video 😂😂😂😂
He was always called white chocolate. The announcers are just using his regular name. And while he was flashy and fun, he was nowhere near a top tier pg. he was a role player.
A New York Times article states he got the nickname from a staffer on the Sacramento Kings. Was he a top 5 point? No. His vision and feel for the game was incredible, and he's one of the most entertaining players you'll ever see. But he didn't play defense and rode the bench a lot of 4th quarters. The whole team at that time was flashy. I recommend searching for "the greatest show on court"

Also, when they were seniors, Jason won football player of the year. Moss won basketball player.
A woman in the kings pr department started the name white chocolate bro lol

Guy can't even spell Rondo
@@tobintaylor3839 Doesn't take away the fact that Pistol Pete did that move 40 years before Rondo and 15-20 years before Rondo was born.
I watch Pistol Pete too and he was great, but I think Jason Williams was a better passer of the ball
JW always had the White Chocolate name because he was smooth and sweet, they just didn't say it on TV for some reason but newspapers called him that. Darryl Dawkins got his name Chocolate Thunder because he shattered backboards

NBA was fun back then.

Pistol Pete was doing that fake behind the back pass in the 70's
Tru indeed he might of invented it but jwill mastered it and took up a different level jwill handles was way better than pistol Pete because he was quicker and fast er and way more fluent and crisp a with his handles n passing too and the difficulty was next level Hubie brown said it legendary coach as older that pistol Pete he said it best pistol Pete wished he could do what jwill did
J Will probably wishes he had Pete's height and shooting ability.@@tylerumberger3326

Shaq said all he had to do was stick up his hand and Jason would hit it.
They call him The Swagg, White Chocolate during college.

he did 10 years before Rondo, and did it better than him. But Pete Maravich did it first. Besides maybe Kyrie, Williams had the best handle of any player, ever
Thank you for stating that. Pistol Pete was the first to do that type of layup, but J-Will was one of the smoothest at it.
Don't get me wrong he did his own thing having amazing handles. He did state he learned a lot from Pistol Pete and Larry Bird, as well as playing street ball. Bird also played street ball.
I always wonder how many baskets Chris Weber scored off of JWill's passes. Must be a LOT.
It’s weird how generationally we all act similar. This current generation getting wowed by JWill is like my generation being introduced to pistol Pete for the first time. It’s a beautiful thing to appreciate the past
I was watching while taking a dump, and even I was impressed..by Jason Williams passing, and not the dump
Ask Shaq what he called him, and also Shaq said white chocolate, best pass ever, ball was always put right there.
Pistol Pete did it first
What you mean white chocolate before randow 7:44 7:47
Went to Miami for the ring that team was stacked Sha-Quille on down
They called him white chocolate on the kings, he replaced bibby
I'm sorry bibby replaced him
He and Mike Bibby got traded for each other if I remember correctly. From Sac to Memphis.
If you're on J Will's team, you're open...
The Sacramento kings PR team gave him that name is rookie year.
Cousy did it too
That’s because the announcers were to white to be calling him white chocolate, it was ether the other players particularly the black players and the fans calling him that.
A white woman gave him that name bro and it didnt take off til after his sacramento days
@OTBGIVREACTS react to nick van excel, rod strickland or mamoud abdul rauf from the 90's next.
Rondo wasn't in the league when williams did the behind fake
"White Chocolate"? The Chocolate players weren't doing what Williams was doing.
Maybe Jason kidd
Jw did it 1st obviously he was in the league b4 rondo com on maan!
😂 pistol Pete Maravich so you need to look up thats who everyone stole everything from
Tou want to double you're hots snd subscribers
He was always called white chocolate. The announcers are just using his regular name. And while he was flashy and fun, he was nowhere near a top tier pg. he was a role player.
He was a little more then just a role player for a few seasons so gotta give him a little more respect then that but yes he was never a top tier guard
Stop,role player?just stop
He was a champion at his best
A New York Times article states he got the nickname from a staffer on the Sacramento Kings.

Dog. Rondo is like 10 years younger than JW! Rondo trying to be like him!
