If you've ever heard of "white chocolate" that's him. He was extremely famous, he has a championship, and he's lethal with 3s and jumpers!!!

The reason he's plays like that is because he grew in a small poor town with only one basketball court. You win you stay on. You lose you get in line. So he figured the best way to get picked for the next team was to pass.

His speed was underestimated. Very quick.

The title of the video is literally “Jason Williams best PASSES” and you’re expected him to score in every clip. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah he’s famous. He just played from 1999/2000-2010/2011, so people who didn’t pay attention to basketball then don’t know who he is, but people who did pay attention absolutely do. He was a starting point guard in the NBA for a while, he was really good with assists and passing obviously. He was an A+ at dribbling and passing. Unfortunately, those were the only things he excelled at. He could also steal, hit the 3 and was a solid but unspectacular scorer, but he didn’t excel in those categories and he was more of a defensive liability. He was absolutely a sensation at his peak, he became known as White Chocolate and he did sell a bunch of jerseys. But he wasn’t all-star good and he spent a lot of the back half of his career as a bench player.

I think the history is that a reporter in Sacramento nicknamed him White Chocolate, and it stuck while he was in Sacramento. Also, I remember a stat that said after Michael Jordan retired, Jason Williams' jersey was the highest sales in the NBA. But yes, his ball handling and passing were second to none, his three pointer was decent (he shot it a lot more in college than the NBA), and he could finish at the rim like few others, thanks to the ball handling. His 1/1 defense was so-so, but his hands were quick, and he had great court awareness on defense as well as offense, so he intercepted passes and got steals off the dribble a lot.
As for the announcers making his passes seem better than they were, they were rarely marveling at the pass itself - some of them weren't difficult passes - but they marveled at his court awareness, his ability to always find his teammates, his ability to SEE a line or opening for the pass, even if the pass wasn't anything special.

Great passer and handles. He was NOT much of a scorer. Not much of a defender either. Had too many turnovers. Get a clue

    99 passing
    98 ball handling
He had speed, could dunk and shoot 3s too. Try Jason Williams streetball moves. That video shows him doing everything

He could def get away with it in today's game as they give way too much space....He got away with it when he played for over a decade even when they knew exactly what he was capable of because of his quickness...."White Chocolate" was his nickname
