I would recommend listening to this again with the lyrics pulled up - it might change your experience of the "feel" of that first part. This song content is pretty unique for ST.
Strong agree. This song is either unbridled rage toward Sleep, or Sleep trying to convince Vessel to sacrifice his lover to fully give himself over. It's amazing.
You probably won’t dig Thread the Needle. I love it, but along with Calcutta and Nazareth, it’s a bit hard to digest on first listen. Those 3 songs are really the only of that particular style from them.
It's been said a bunch, but this is their early stuff when they're still looking for their sound/are newer in their musicianship. It certainly takes a couple listens to get into it, and once you get familiar with the lyrics, it helps create a context for the mood.
you have to check out descending next! it has this like r&b vibe and sound and just an overall amazing beat for the backing instrumentals. would even say it'll be one of your favorite songs by them! as always, keep on rocking man

I absolutely adore that song it’s my all time favourite song by blind channel. I mean BC has a looot of amazing songs but Alcatraz is just something else to me.
These past few songs you've listened to here are their older ones. they have a bit of a different feel to em, a bit more experimental. I feel like their sundowning album was when their sound really flourished, had a beautiful brutality to it. Their newest album feels like it lost a bit of that and took on a different tone too, more of a sedated feel to it in comparison. The song Fall for me is just vessel singing too btw, everything is just him. So definitely worth checking out.
Their earlier stuff appeals more to the metalhead crowd while blending in melodic elements. I think the problem is that you've listened to them "in reverse." I honestly think Jericho might be your speed because its heavy part is still melodic.

I'm telling you, ya gotta check out holy fawn- death is a relief. This has deaf heaven/sleep token/ stranger things soundtrack vibes. This band is next to blow up.
I find your opinion on they heavy breakdown at the end of song funny cause it reminds me of Tom Searle, previous Architects lead guitarist who sadly passed away. There's an interview from years ago where he was mocking the people who cry when there's no breakdowns in a song. Even more funny to think about this, considering the audience response to Architects new direction with their last album and the new one coming soon. I do love Nazareth but I agree that not every songs need a breakdown. There's some beautiful ones who will tend more on the melodic side rather than the heavy tho.
I cant agree with some of this. Without a breakdown songs can become extremely boring and fast. I feel every song should have a breakdown just like a verse or a chorus. Its an absolute must
