The lyrics in this one just kill me - if you've ever lost someone, and then had a dream about them where everything was good, and you were together, only to wake up and realize it was a dream and that person you love is still gone ... then you can understand this song. Worship! Also, I'll echo what a couple of other commentors have said: I predict that if you listen to this one a few more times, particularly in context, you'll come to love it.
To be honest I like mostly Vessel´s beautyful vocals, but the crushing endpart reminds me, that nothing lasts forever so I go back and listen it again.
This song is a masterpiece, I feel like the song is building up hope till it peaks only for it to be absolutely crushed, this is what I felt like personally for about 7 years, those last lyrics get me everytime, so good.
I am addicted to this band! The two albums and jaws clicked quite quickly for me. Their first few songs like this one took a while though, but I've started to really appreciate them aswell to the point where I dont understand how i didn't really like them at first.
Addicted is the best word I can imagine. I've listened to only Sleep Token since Alkaline hit my suggested. The thumbnail had me dodging the song for a couple of weeks because I'm m Christine af and it looked dark. I give in and listened to them and am still in awe. There is more soul in this dudes pipes than I can find in any genre. I had to do my research and make sure I wasnt worshipping the devil singing along lol. I loved what I found. Every song is amazing and grows on you. I'd give anything to meet the singer.
Calcuttas got to be in my Top five at least. I always come back to it. Top ten even when a new album comes out and im addicted to the new songs. Its still there, always a new wave ready to hit me in the face when id thought id got the rhythm of the emotions down. Its definitely the lyrics. But the ending is like quintessential sleep token catharthsis, underscoring the meaning. An inevitable destruction and collapse. The tension in the beginning is all the pieces finding you for one moment. Its the time lived again and everything aligned like an eclipse. Everything holding its breath and being in the moment, that one moment when you are most yourself, before the inevitable chaos of the descent, all the pieces and memories that come with a sense of self, lost. But also an exaltation, a celebration of having had all those pieces in place again when you didnt know if it would all come together again or if youd be in a permenant state of loss and dissaray. Every time is a mourning of the self that is the most you, but also the least sustainable facet. A you in flow with the world because all the pieces of self are there and within reach, the good and the bad parts, so you can be balanced against a world thats unlikely to welcome you. But you are prepared. And then it collapses.
If you read the lyrics, it getting very dark and heavy is the point. It being very light and pretty is about him reminiscing about those lost moments in time where he felt himself and alive Then reality hits. It's only a dream
I think you might just need to hear it a couple more times for that heavy part to make sense. Especially once you’ve reacted to the next two tracks on this EP. The following track Nazareth is probably one of my absolute favorites! It’s a really smooth flow throughout all three tracks though! As always, keep up the good work spreading the word!!!
Your breakdowns are so on point. So often I agree almost 100%. I think it was more the mood change at the end than the heaviness. It was just a turn mood wise that I agree wasn’t really needed. Still good
The thing with sleep token is as beautiful as the song is, the heavy part reminds you that it’s not a happy song, it’s a haunting song. So the heavy part takes it home. All that beauty you hear is deceptive to the lyrical content & the heavy part matches the lyrics. That’s Sleep Token for you.

In the video for Fall For Me from the latest album, you can see about the same amount of Vessel's face very briefly, maybe even more, in two shots. He also isn't wearing the body paint at all. It's an a capela song with some vocorder effect on it, and it is just as crushing as their other songs without the instruments. That said, you should do Dark Signs next. I really think it is more your style. I know you said it was on the list, but you really should try it next! Thanks for the video, as always!
Uncommon suggestion, but I think that if you want to hear his voice on display, you should definitely give Shelter (From the Room Below) a listen! Usually people will say Blood Sport, but Shelter is gorgeous as well even though it doesn't have a music video.
Man, I loved your reaction, but I have to disagree about the ending. This song breaks you into a million pieces with the lyrical content and beautiful melody, and then it builds you whole again with that heavy ending. I think the heavy had to be there to compliment the soft, just like the music video. Palettes and everything worked for this video.
