    I do understand where you're coming from. It's one of the wealthiest institutions in the world. It owns priceless art, land, artifacts, etc. I visited the Vatican museums last year, mostly for the art. It's great for tourism, but it is over the top for a church, and it's been that way for centuries. It's wealth is deeply rooted in its history and customs, so it holds on to some of its extravagant traits. I think it does this to maintain a powerful presence and to gain attention.

    Some argue the canon was controversial before and after the Catholic canon. Some argue that the Synod of Carthage in 397 simply confirmed and reiterated the list of 27 New Testament books that were already considered as the canon for some time by individual Christians and church’s, and that St. Athanasius was the first person to identify the same 27 books of the New Testament that are in use today, as evidenced in his Easter letter from Alexandria, written in 367, 30 years before.

    There was an earlier latin version of the Bible called "Itala". I said that like 5 times. But you missed that. Vulgata is a name of a translation. It TRANSLATED Scripture. All of the writings of the NT were already recognized as inspired by the 3rd century. There were also attempts to compile all such writings in one book. One of these early compilation were "Itala" which translated the greek books in Latin.

    I guess after watching this video, we can see that the papal apartments are not that splendid. But with Pope Francis deciding not to stay there, you hear people saying how humble he is for refusing to live in the "lavish" apartments, but that is simply not the case. Why can't people try and confirm their information before they start making judgements.

      @FaithHopeGrace Respectfully, I am not in accord with your assessment of Pope Francis. We listened to his presentation in its entirety. He referenced something St. Paul said about the cross in his speech. If one were to take Paul's statement out of context, as some have done to the Pope in the speech that you very, very briefly alluded, then Paul would also be accused of being anti-Christian. Then we would have to disregard much of the New Testament and Jesus. I won't do that and neither will Pope Francis. I won't get into any sort of Catholic/Protestant battle royale. I will end by saying that I love my Protestant brothers and sisters immensely. Further,my love an admiration for His Holiness Pope Francis is contingent on my assessment of him, not that of another. Y’know what really caught my attention with this video about religious luxury? I mean, it’s been so many years since Pope Francis confounded them all by say “No thanks, I still want to live in a relatively humble apartment” that so many people pretty much take that for granted. But at the beginning of this video, they say that the papal palace is SECOND in size to the palace of the Dalai Lama! I would have thought the Dalai Lama would also have a relatively humble abode. I’m not Buddhist, but I always thought humility and simplicity was their gig too. It kinda weirds me out to here their leaders live in huge palaces.

    Jorge also claims that adoption by homosexuals is a form of discrimination against children but believes that condoms "can be permissible" to prevent infection. Until now he has been living in a small flat, eschewing a formal bishop's residence. He told Argentinians not to travel to Rome to celebrate if he was appointed but to give their money to the poor instead. According to a Vatican spokesman, Pope Francis chose his name in honor of St. Francis of Assisi because he is a lover of the poor.

    Different religious groups include different books within their canons. Also, it's not like it's impossible for Catholics to be hypocrites either. The Bible itself speaks of churches that strayed away from the teachings of Christianity. Of course, a Catholic might try to act as if they wrote the Bible themselves or something and they will try to provide an interpretation that makes them seem consistent with what the Bible actually says. Members of any kind of church will do that.

    Also, ultimately, the Roman Catholic canon was not formally declared until the Council of Trent (1545-1563). Most other churches have never had any such formal declaration and simply continue with those canons which fell into place, long ago, simply by acclamation. The Catholics seem to have their own way of doing things.Simpy because Catholics ratified their canon does not mean that they somehow created the Bible. I'll send you some links.

His style of Popeing - Haha It's a word check your dictionaries - is just like that of Pope John Paul II , may he rest in peace. 5. The New testament apostolic writings were considered inspired and were quoted as Canon by early Church Fathers from 1st century onward. In fact, many manuscripts circulated with 25-27 books of the NT already in the 3rd and 4th century. 6. There was Latin translation of ALL NT writings in the late 3rd century called "Itala". 7. The Church in the late 4th cent. only made official recognition of the NT canon and did not "made up" or "decided" which books should be in the NT.

  • @whatDflip

    I'm talking about in the ultimate sense, but anyway, even if you are correct, I don't think it really means much of anything because, like I said, most other churches have never had any such formal declaration and simply continue with those canons which fell into place, long ago, simply by acclamation. • @zikamaster
    @zikamaster 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The context of this disciple is gnostic infiltration in the Church. Instead of listening wondering gnostic teachers or church members infected with gnosticism, Ignatius counsels to always check with the bishop for he know that there is more controle for the bishop (episcopos) had to be ordained and verified if he was orthodox or not. Thus, for the sake of practicality Ignatius appeals to members to check everything with the bishops. NT mentions the word "episcopos" it's the same as church elders

  • @zikamaster
    @zikamaster 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dear friend. Irenaeus used the word "catholicos" in its primitive or original sense of "entire" or "universal". When Irenaeus or Justin Martyr said "catholic faith" or "church", they did not have in mind "Roman Catholicism" which was developed much later, but he was referring to mainstream Christians as opposed to gnostic heretics. Gnostics were not considered "catholic" because they did not have support of "entire" [catholic] Christian community. Word "catholic" has nothing to do with Romanism.

The CHURCH 1 Cor 3:13 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." Pope sat in the temple of God pretending to be the God on earth. Your system is Antichrist. It comes out of the fourth beast in Dan 7 (Rome) and it is a "little horn" who plucked three horns (Vandals, Heruli and Ostrogoths) as prophecy said.

  • @zikamaster
    @zikamaster 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just because 19th century textbook calls an early bishop "a pope", that does not mean that this early bishop really called himself "pope" or that he was called "pope" by others as an official title. The term "pope" as an official title came only in the 6th century. Before that we have a smattering of evidence that some christians leaders were called "abba" or "papa" in endearing way but not as an official universal bishop what papacy is today.

  • @zikamaster

    The Bible says about the pope: "...Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the TEMPLE OF GOD, shewing himself that he is God."

    Dear brother. 1. Bishop Damasus was not yet 'pope', the bishop of Constantinople was considered more important than him. 2. In Damasus' time, Church, although beginning to be corrupt, was still centuries away from what we call today Roman Catholicism. 3. This means that Roman Catholic did not "invent" or "made" Scripture (lol). 4. Early Church recognized most of the apostolic writings as inspired already in 2nd and 3rd centuries, half a millennia before Roman Catholicism ever developed fully.

    Irenaeus does not give a list of popes but of head elders. These head elders were called episcopoi - overseers. They were overseers of the various churches, like Rome, Alexandria, Antioch and other major Christian hubs. Irenaeus gives a list to show that he and his colleagues succeeded the original bishops and they received the office from them. This, according to Ireneaus was supposed to prove that his brand of Christianity had the most pure doctrine and not the gnostics who had no succession.

    Before Vulgata there was the old Latin translation called "Itala". It dates from early 3rd century. Because there seem to have been several versions of Itala flowing around with some variations bishop Damasus appointed Jerome to make a new Latin translation from already existent Greek manuscripts of the New Testament. This also shows that there were several Greek manuscripts of the NT before Vulgata was framed such as Sinaiticus and Alexandrinus and Vaticanus...etc... feeling better now bro?

Thus, the canonical books were already in EXISTENCE. Many of them were bound together in manuscript formes and contained all the NT books we have today. The problem is that you are tracing your heritage to the original apostolic and early catholic church but in the meantime the product (your church) has changed and does not represent the same religion. If you study the early church you would see that it is very close to what Protestants believed (not that I endorse protestants because I am not classical Protestant). As I said, the only thing that modern "Catholic Church" and the early Catholic Church have in common is the name.

    The Bible was compiled by the late 4th century by the EARLY CHURCH. The seat of the Early church in the 4th century was not Rome but Constantinople. The traces of Roman Catholic Church as we have it today and its leader the "Pope" did not emerge until 6th or 7th century. Jerome, one of the greatest authorities of the EARLY CHURCH did not consider deuterocanonical books such as Maccabees, Judith, Baruh etc to be canonical. At the council of Cartaghe in 395, these apocryphal books were rejected.

    8. Your beloved Jerome and "pope" Damasus only ordered new latin translation of the ALREADY LONG EXISTENT AND RECOGNIZED NEW TESTAMENT BIBLE
    9. They both rejected deutero-canonical writings (which many Catholics today cling to) as NON inspired. So if they were already "ROMAN CATHOLIC" in the full sense of today's Roman Catholicism then why do modern Catholics claim deutero-canonical books as inspired when Jerome and Damasus both rejected them?

He lives in a very normal apartment that is located in a complex that, for the most part is open to the public and is a museum and an office building. After JP II died, tehy had to renovate because rain was dripping in buckets on the floor.
    And when are you going to get around to crabbing about the Dalai lama, who has the 1st largest

    The foundation of the Church is Christ. he is the corner stone. Peter was the first rock in the house but many rocks must be added to finish the house. Peter was the first stone because he was the first one to confess Jesus as Christ. All those who come after him add their own stones. Look what the Bible says: you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:5

      I'm fact what you are implying if that"that" church needs to sell it's address m assets and give the proceeds to the poor.
      Ok... How would the global church function then as it already has set up and operates over 240,000 schools and hospitals globally? The entire Vatican had an operating budget of $330 million annually. The Heinz corporation for an example of another global entity has an operating budget of $1.5 billion.
      Stop listening to haters.

    Of course, he refused to occupy the Apostolic Palace where all Popes have lived. He said he would be lonesome there. Pope Francis chose to live at Santa Marta residence behind St. Peter's and be with his brother priests.

    What makes you think I am Protestant?I am not a Protestant in a classical sense.I am a Bible believer.My Church has the same doctrine as the 1st century Christianity.I belong to the fastest growing religion in the world. We teach the truth as it is. I was merely responding to your misuse of history. The problem is that you refuse to accept the truth now because your heart is biased and very closed.Also u need education. It's ok. One day you will maybe see and accept the truth. I still love u.

    Dear brother. Ignatius wrote five letters but these were not the same as John the Revelator. The five letters of Ignatius were letters to Antioch, Smyrna, Ephesus, Philippi and Italy. The letters of John were to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. I think you are getting confused. I am praying for you to come out of Babylon.

    From a Christian perspective, it's not something to be proud of because God isn't pleased. From the skeptic's perspective, this is utter stupidity as Catholicism requires that you really fail to understand both what the Bible says as well as what reality has to say about the Bible. It's like living in an imaginary world that you created within an imaginary world that you created.

    Roman Catholic theologians do not teach that they are the same as the Early Church. Nobody buys that. In contrary they teach that the authority of the Church popes and councils is above the authority of the Scriptures and that the Church has the right to change the Scripture doctrines and thus they justify the fact that they HAVE DEPARTED SO MUCH from the teachings of the New Testament.

    Which do YOU think Jesus would have said:
    a) "The poor you have always with you."
    b) "Why was not this [chair] sold for three hundred [dollars], and given to the poor?"
    In case you didn't know, Jesus said the first and Judas [the traitor] said the second (John 5).
    Ouch. Facts have got to hurt...
