wouldn't've take much to make this a amazing game dayz s was a scam when it came out and is still jank today but people love it. EFT is not on steam so it could end up doing well if they wanna put the work they have money to do so now. sound bad but i hope the bait switch was to get payed to now make the game they should have

@@QIKUGAMES-QIKUNo, I shown pretty much everything in the game, the only thing this video doesn't show is a few cool PoIs, and the elevators, the elevators only go to 1 floor on all buildings that I have seen, and there isn't much up there other than like 1 locked door and loot. You cannot see out of glass looking down at the city from here either.
I suspect that the game didn’t even exist 6-12 months ago and they had to cobble something together.

Nice Video, I just want to add, and maybe you'll agree, that even a game that used 100% bought assets is not an asset flip as long as they actually programed the game and made sure everything worked together and only used them as a base/only used them for the models. I consider an asset flip a "game" that bought a bunch of assets, and assets with working "features", put them all together, called it a game/"early access" and sold it when they really did no work on it themselves. For example Phasmaphobia and House Flipper (base game at release) used pretty much all bought assets, but they actually made a game with them and didn't just through them all together and put it out to sell like most of the "survival" games that came out on steam greenlight/early access years ago

@@narkosis1437 no it didn't take that long at all, it wouldn't even with novice/beginner programmers, if I had to guess I would say that years ago it was a small group that were WAY too ambitious, then probably this year a little before, or right around when it went on steam, before it was taken down because of the copyright stuff, is when they started and put together what actually got released
I don't think they've actually programmed anything that wasn't already provided in scripts by default by UE. I doubt the volunteers are even real. You can buy samples of stock working games as a foundation to build upon that are already programmed. Probably why the Fatal Error message addresses the game's service as "UE-Survival game" and not "The Day Before".
This is by definition a scam and a asset flip. Otherwise why would programming basic movement and interactions and ai voice overs take 5 years and that none of the basic promised features are in the game? Heck if your character gets stuck somewhere you have to delete it and start over. Look at the mirrors they're still images lmao

I understand all the negativity around this game, however I am all about giving the developers props where due. The questing system is fantastic. The likes of find: alphabet, find: insulin, find: inhaler, find: sealant, find: plumbing kit and also find: soldering kit are remarkable. Oh, how could i forget find: guitar, find: guitar capo and find: guitar tutorial. This system alone makes me want to boot up the game and explore the city.
hahahaha, I thought you were actually going to list off some things you actually enjoy. I do think the world is pretty but ran horribly for me (but some said it was super smooth so IDK, maybe my 3080 is melting?) and the weapon list/modding is pretty decent, other than that, the rest is pretty bad.
@@Psi For me the biggest issue is the gameplay loop/quests. Tarkov is how its meant to be done (quests) when it comes to a balance of finding items, killing pmcs/scavs, using different weapons, placing markers etc etc. The gameplay loop in eft is all about progression, becoming stronger and more geared over time, levelling up skills as you know. However here, it's pretty inexistent. After 3/4 runs tops i could see myself getting bored asf even if the game ran perfectly. And to top it off, the fact looting is holding the F key, and you can't see items on the shelves etc. is such a lazy choice of design, you could never get that thrill of seeing a 'super rare item' laying in the corner of a room or whatnot. You don't really care what you find in this game, there's no serious scale of different item rarity that get's your blood rushing when you find a rare item, wanting to extract. It's all so bare bones. YAP.

I remember when DrDisrespect was streaming this before The Game Awards was starting, he gave this game a 5.9 out of 10 in rating, even his viewers and subs were surprised he'd rate it that high. I wonder what he rates it now.

I saw his stream, he is so boring, not funny, without wide games knowledge, without courage streamer. Only what he have is his cringe alter ego. He told this game check all the boxes, he didn't notice any major problems with this game. Lol I'm sure his game has similar qualities, that's why nobody plays it.

I assumed he must have gotten lucky with game stability (like BigFry's first run)... along with subconsciously comparing the game with his own (which is nowhere near as far along in development as TDB was supposed to be). I'm not a fan of his at all, but I was so surprised when someone mentioned that in the other streams I was watching that I briefly had a look at Dr Disrespect's channel... he certainly didn't look like he was enjoying it, and died to the same glitch I'd seen 3 other streamers get hit with.
I've fallen into the same trap of comparing progress on my own project with one that's at a different stage, confusing the hell out of my colleagues... I am being pretty charitable with that interpretation though!

It's already been confirmed to be an asset flip. The city and cars are unreal market assets. They knew what it was before it released. That's why they asked for people not to call it a scam or asset flip.

100% agree with your comment though, these projects will continue because people fall for them, and seemingly there are no consequences for pulling off such a scam, in fact they even get an army of supporters for doing so!
@@Psi It's mostly uninformed masses. If we didn't know anything about the background of this dev and were only presented with the face of the product (trailers, demos, announcements, promises, etc), then this would look like a great game.
If we're being honest, we were all more or less looking forward to see if these promises would actually be kept and if we'll get the product that was presented. Needless to say, we all got disappointed, but the real conversation topic is the follow-up.
When it comes to games on Steam and possibly other platforms too, there should be far more regulation than there currently is.
Obviously everyone wants their game to be on Steam, more or less, due to how much it increases their chances that their game will be played, so Steam should take some responsibility and create a formula to prevent things like this. Especially given how short the refund conditions are (2 hours max in the first 2 weeks, otherwise get fucked).
Perhaps this game is evidently garbage, right off the bat, so 2 hours is enough time to formulate a proper impression on it, but there's A LOT of other games out there, some specifically designed in such a way that their entire gameplay focuses around keeping the player invested for the first few hours, only to discover that it's hot garbage afterwards. Often a bit too late for Steam to allow refunds (revenue lost).
We all understand it's a business. We get it. We also understand that you simply can't educate just everyone, especially not when it comes to emotional intelligence (a lot of people simply go off the potential of the game, rather than the game itself).
It's exactly these points that call for an extra body of developmental surveillance, especially in regards to EA games and their business practices. These game devs need to meet a certain level of competence and delivery of their product in order to receive the PRIVILEGE of having their game featured on Steam.
It shouldn't just be a given, just because it makes Steam some extra money and often at the expense of all the customers involved.
@@BouncerMcDayGreen Yeah Steam does seem to really let anything slide on their platform (other than any crypto games). Although I really don't know what the next "scam game" on the horizon is (I feel like they were a lot more popular a few years ago), I am sure it won't be too long till we see it happen again! Unless AI can save us all?

You make a good point about crypto, though. I've been on Epic for 10 minutes and immediately saw multiple crypto garbage scams. It was ridiculous.
Although, besides that, it seems Steam really does allow anything nowadays - including P2W mobile game PC ports. I don't see them getting too much competition, but still, it'd be nice if they could tighten the leash on all these devs thinking they're entitled to the money of people who don't know any better.

For example, I see an amazing trailer, I'm going to do a quick google search on the game just to see what style it might be, what kind of weapons or features might be in it, or even simply when the release date is. In doing so, there would likely be at least one eye-catching search result that would start to raise enough suspicion (red flag headline or even a youtuber expressing concern while being excited about the trailer) to keep a closer eye before I actually drop my money. That's literally how I started watching this game. That beautiful, raytraced trailer: "That looks amazing--like The Division, only zombies and better graphics. Oh, it's a survival game? Not my style, but man, it looks good." Later trailer/gameplay reveal (I forget): "Meh, that's definitely a downgrade, but gameplay still looks intriguing..." And it went downhill from there quickly. If they had released within a year of that beautiful trailer, I could get it, but this journey has been so long and such a spiral that anyone googling the game within the past month has a plethora of red flags instantly on each search--there's not a single source out there that didn't have some sort or reservations or even outright speculate that it was a scam or simply unable to deliver.
I love this game.

The sad part is the company won’t say anything at all regarding their launch and reviews.

This game didnt exist prior to them buying UE5, the gameplay they showed was some project they prolly had an intern put together while they gained funding for their scam.
Wrong the original devs left this 🤡 and he bought assests and hired some more People and tried to still put it out. Then regards like this youtuber still gave them money

as an inspector i've learned to never listen to what people say they will do, but to inspect the things they've done. I've also had the pleasure of playing survival games since arma 2 dayz mods and you'll intuitively know this as the truth if you have too.
yup. anyone whos been around for a while knew this was going to be complete bs from the first trailer. it looked like a higher budget version of the division mixed with dayz made by an unknown developer. also been around since the start of survival games and have been burned enough times to know whats possible and what isnt.

Miscreated's map paired with something like DayZ would have been awesome, shame it's dead now, it deserved more love, but I guess part of that is on the devs if they cannot make a core game system that clicks with people.
I would have given credit on the scope of the city but then I learned the whole city is actually an asset. The one thing that kinda awed me can just be bought of UE.
There is 100% credit due on the city. I know a lot of people act (yourself included) like the city is just some asset they bought and called it a day, but there are clearly a lot of assets that have been tweaked, or made from scratch for the city.

The Day Before made the WE ARE AN MMO thing front and center, almost as if it could defy DayZ in that sense.

$40 x all time player peak of 38k = 1.52 million. Steam gets 30%. They still made about a million. Player count is around 5k right now of dumbasses who missed the refund window. So let’s say maybe 200k -steams 30%. So they made any where from 1 million to 140k.

I think we can all agree that the game itself isn’t that bad. What really pisses us off is that the devs had the audacity to fake their trailers, use pre made assets everywhere, copy other studios and use AI for big parts of their game. After all this time, this can’t be seriously what the game looks like. I know of indie developers that can do more in half of the time they had than what Fntastic did

I did try refund it after 17 hours game time out of curiosity, I tried the normal refund and even a support ticket, denied for both. Not surprised, I did a subathon for the game, if I was a normal consumer I would refund for sure, but alas for me, it is stream content!

I personally think it’s a ton of fun in its current state, Early access means you invested in the dev team to help Finnish the game. Having missing features.gameplay During EA is not a scam or fraud. It’s a game. You don’t like it don’t play it. It’s also not an extraction shooter. You can stay in the world indefinitely, having a safe zone doesn’t make it an EShooter. It’s similar. The Woodbury hub has been in the trailers for a year or 2. I think it will get a lot better, The desync, and server problems have mostly dissipated. It gives me H1Z1 vibes and I’m cool with that! I think they have a larger map areas and crafting but it’s not currently playable and makes sense why they left it out for now.
I 100% believe we're playing a very old version of this game. I don't believe they showed many features even obvious must haves like melee/mantle years ago just to not have them in the full release.
That theory makes no sense, but time will prove that it makes no sense.
@@Psi Eroktic uploaded a pretty good video talking about how some devs have the actual finished game locked because they were unpaid or something and that we're playing on version 0.1. Not sure how trustworthy it is but I'd recommend giving it a watch.

Not that we needed more info on why to avoid it, but it was fun to see just how shallow it is, and how utterly incompetent at game design they are.
