I unfortunately never had the space in my schedule at Loma to squeeze in a Nutrition class, so I'm grateful for such a great overview! It was also very interesting to hear about fluid loss and how we can measure bodyweight to see how many ounces need to be replenished.
Going over the basic roles of each macronutrient and the recommended intake of them was super helpful, especially since I am learning this in nutrition class.
I had no idea we needed more red and orange veggies than the dark green leafy. I had assumed that the dark green leafy was at the top. Now I have a new focus for improvements in my diet.
It's fascinating how nutrient delivery operates and how certain foods contain substantial amounts of essential nutrients needed for the body to function at an optimal level.
The way nutrient delivery works and the vast amount that can be found in certain foods that is needed for the body to function at a higher degree is so cool.
I really appreciated you talking about the macronutrients as this is something that is relatable and applicable to every athlete serious about performance and nutrition. Many different aspects of these macronutrients can be overlooked and this can hinder training and sport performance.
We were just talking today in the Athletic Training clinic that I work in about the instances of stress fractures in athletes who do not eat meat. It is crazy how a different diet really does affect so much in the body. Eat your meat!
I appreciate how detailed you went into the nutritional factors for health of athletes. I feel like people talk much less about nutrition in comparison to exercise.
The tables provide great examples of foods to meet the nutrition guidelines recommended. They were very helpful to provide different foods that contain specific vitamins/nutrients that we need.
I really like the saying that sports dietitians help athletes make the connection between "plate and performance". I think that is a great way to put it!
This video was a great recap from nutrition class, as well as going over each macronutrient and how much fat, carbohydrate and protein should be consumed.
This is a great explanation of sports nutrition. I like especially how you explained not to assume that athletes or others know the basics of nutrition or hydration but instead to work with them to formulate a plan that supports their health that they can participate in and continue themselves!
Nutrition is often a very underutilized tool to achieve the gains in whatever someone is looking for. knowing the breakdown of the main three: protein, carbs and fat will go a long way to understanding how macronutrients fir into their respective program, great lecture video!
I found it super interesting seeing the explanation behind some responsibilities of a sports nutrition professional. Having someone that can interpret the new research data and give it to us in a way that we can understand for out daily diet is very helpful.
It's interesting learning about sport nutrition in this class versus my Nutrition for Exercise and Sport Performance class. We've covered the majority of this information, but this video was still a good refresher on the material!

I like how you summed it up in one video and I feel sorry for your friend who had all that broccoli and had to run to the bathroom. And this really overlapped with the nutrition class that I am taking.
It was very beneficial for me to relearn the different types of proteins that our bodies can or cannot make because I had forgotten this information before this video.
This was a great lecture and I appreciated the reminder on what I should be consuming and how that is variable depending on the athlete and the type of athletic activity they participate in.
Great refresher on the importance of nutrition when training. I’ve always found it super cool how our body is able to break down protein, carbs, & fats and use it to keep us going!
The story about broccoli gave me a good laugh while studying. I also was caught off guard by some of the editing and zoom-ins which made me laugh. thanks for relaying all this information and making it so easily accessible for us!
I am always interested when I learn about ketosis and this idea of a low carb high fat diet that overtime trains the body to use fat as our main fuel source instead of carbs. Its interesting seeing which high level athletes are keto and seeing how they can still perform the same even though there bodies are functioning totally differently
I thought the story about your friend and broccoli was really funny. Sucks that he had a race the next day. Might have been better if you pranked him another day.
A good review of what we are learning in nutrition class! thanks for the video!

Huge respect for ur hard work sir❤
Ayeeeee he’s back!!!!
Based on the chart you showed about glycemic index, I found it interesting that oranges are harder to digest than watermelon.
U are doing great work
Thank you very much!
I really found this to be a very interesting lecture and section since nutrition for me is not really a strong suit.
Q: GI isn’t so much about speed in but more about speed out. Correct?
I had no idea that alcohol was considered a macronutrient!
I'm glad they got rid of the pyramid. My Plate seems much better and more up to date.
Poor Matt. The combo of those pre race nerves and the broccoli really got the better of him.
