Wow! This past weekend I called and scheduled a consultation with Joseph Baba Ifa for July and I can not wait! I am so anxious because if have such a positive feeling about this. I originally called and spoke to Baba Joseph asking about how I can possibly go about finding a new padrino . I asked this prior to finding this video … and all my answers were answered right here on this video . Let me just start off by saying I did my ceremony almost 2 years ago and I do not have my padrinos personal phone number. If I need him I need to call him during business hrs at the botanica . I mean I know where he lives but I’m not just going to knock on his door for a quick question about how to attend my warriors .. etc . There are a lot of things that I can not wait to discuss with Joseph and I’m so happy before even going to my consultation. What is your take on Babalawos who “think outside the box”...?? I was introduced in Palo Mayombe a year ago and speaking with a Santera recently, I am told he is doing a lot of bad things and not showing me the path correctly. I was going to ask him to be my padrino but that was before I found out that he is showing me everything the wrong way. Sad thing is my partner is his godson and trust him and thinks that what he is doing is “outside the box.” I haven’t told him what I was told but he is now disappointed I am not asking his padrino to be mine. Also, would it be best to have a godparent near by? Or can we chose one out of state? I have one particularly I’ve found a connection with but she is in Florida and I am in California.

Joseph Baba Ifa oh no, I am not initiated yet, I have just been introduced to the path but have attended misas since February of 2019. I’ve pretty much been learning a lot on my own because I have not really been taught. I am a seer and l would’ve thought by now I would have been told how to go about choosing a godparent and the initiation process. So this is something I’ve had an issue with and I want to find a godparent elsewhere. I was told that a lot of what I’ve learned on my own should have been taught to me. So lots of what you explain in this video resonates with my situation. I’ve been used like a power grid during misas to feel others ailments and was told as a non-initiate that should’ve never happened. Being touched by a Babalawo with a bare hand and him removing my head scarf. The santera I spoke to was very angry that this was happening to me.

Presumably yes. If your goals differ from your elders it becomes a conflict of interest which may prevent the relationship from progressing. You would let them know your interest and then they should take you through the formal process.
