thank you for your videos! I feel you're one of the most valuable videomakers on the platform as you're not just showing amazing results but also the mistakes on the process. This has incredible informative value and you are offering an invaluable learning experience scarcely found anywhere else... Keep on the good work!
I love watching your videos so much. Your voice is extremely soothing. And the end result is so realistic. Thank you for filming your hobby for the rest of us! 💚 Edit: Love the music as well.
Love your videos; I’ve been watching for several months and the more I see the more I want to try my hand at it too!! Hope you’re staying safe :) best, Jess
absolutely stunning. Ive got a nice little list for different supply's too.thank you for your skill and your time showing us.A pleasure to watch you work
We really enjoyed watching this wonderful piece of art. I am also in the process of working on a similar project, so thank you for this valuable explanation.
Hi Merrick, I'd have to say that the oak tree was the most impressive transformation I've seen on your channel. I won't lie, that thing started out looking bulky, not very tree like, and a bit ugly. Boy did you transform it into a work of art. It is always so interesting to see how you create your dioramas.
Absolutely amazing as always. It is without question a great pleasure to watch you work. I'll try to the best of my abilities to use/replicate some of the tips and tricks on my train-layout. Best regards and keep on modeling. Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰
That's a smashing little scene. Could be any where in Wales that. Some useful tips taken from yourself and luke Towan that ill be using on my model railway of Exeter st David's. I'm just about to start the scenery all around the river Exe and will also be pouring resin for the water. Top job. Tim.
Hi High Eye. Not the way I'd make a wire tree, but still, a superb result. Love it all. Superbly produced video, with lovely camera work and narration, although @26.50 I could have bet my bottom dollar that you were going to end the sentence 'I also tend to apply a thin layer inside of the masking tape, just to secure the dam(n)........... THING.' LOL.
Masterly done! As I was saying on Insta, when you see the end result, you can feel the wet and the damp - mark of true realism. Your tree making methods in this one are pretty unique: have to experiment with that myself. :) I feel that though, the static grass for the twigs have gone a little too heavy, expecially on close-ups. Would you consider using a lighter spray of glue, and reduce the density, perhaps? I also think shredded fiber foliage is a good alternative and looks more natural. Great stuff, as usual Merrick, looking forward to more. :) Cheers! Kaustav
Thanks for making that video. Watching it made me feel so relaxed and your voice is quite calming which all together made it most enjoyable. I also learned a lot too ! Found it odd that you painted all of it with Black Gesso. Never heard of that. Is it a special type of paint and how come no-one else has done that ? Cheers !!
High Eye Workshop ..... apologies for this I do not know your name ..... I did an oak tree awhile back just wondered if you’d have a look .. I realise your a very busy modeller.... th-cam.com/video/fyaisfyHFac/w-d-xo.html ...... regards Fred
wow! this is awesome! i need a bigger house so i can make things like this too (and have a place to put them :P ) Love videos like this. its always fun to see videos where at the start you wonder "how is this blob of styrofoam going to be anything remotely beautiful?" only to have the result surpass your wildest expectations.
You don’t need bigger space to do things, if you want a setup, I’d suggest dedicating a drawer or box to supplies, and just lay out a cutting board on a table to work on.
While I'd love to get into model making, I'm not sure I can reconcile with how much sytrofoam is used, environmentally-wise. Are there other options for base materials that aren't plastic-based?
Wood, but that's still extractive and probably has a larger carbon footprint across its life cycle. It requires cutting down trees, the growing of monoculture lumber forests at the expense of biodiversity, processing and then it's heavier for transporting, using more fuel. Making a permanent sculpture out of plastic isn't a bad use of plastic. Single-use plastic is what we have to limit.
My model railway layout uses used polystyrene as a base. Yes it's plastic but it's not easily recycled and the local organic food shop were delighted to get someone taking it away. It doesn't look good but you just have to cover it up well enough... I used cocktail sticks to put the layers together I think some people also use papier mache as a base (used paper etc, though I wonder how much plastic goes into the glue with papier mache!)
Just my crazy idea, but You could try to ask friends to save the styro their electronic gadgets and such come in. You could ask stores to save you their styro when they unpack show models etc. put an add on your supermarket bulletin board asking people to save styro for you. if you consider how much there is around one TV set, I think you will be drowning in the stuff in a week, and all stuff that would otherwise end up in the incienerator. Some pieces might demand a bit more work to be brought into shape, but you dont really need big flat sheets (although some titems come packed with one) since youll be putting stuff over it anyway. You can also put several smaller blocks roughly together and then cover them. to form a flat-ish base.
I make small villages for each holiday and want to incorporate the river/moss/trees into it. But they usually have 3-4 houses in each village. and about 24"x 24"
Some people think they find negativity enjoyable, but actually it's a trick of the mind. It doesn't bother me when people dislike something I doz though. Actually exhibiting that dislike is odd behaviour - but If they react, it boosts the algorithm, so their negativity turns into a positive 😊
@@HighEyeWorkshop That's a good idea. I should put some storage shelves up in the garage and start putting mine in there. Your channel is truly an inspiration mate. I create very similar dioramas and have learned a lot from you, keep up the great work mate :)
Am I tripping or at the end, when he shows all the pictures, can you see at least one face or creature face in each image??? I’m VERY sleep deprived though, so the thought that I’ve actually just went insane is more probable than you might think
You Sir, are so incredibly talented! That is so realistic. You've taught me a lot about layering and tree texturing. Thank you x
I’m going to savor this like fine wine
Thank you!
I agree always real fascinating to see these videos!
Both of these are bots.

It started looking very chaotic at first but the more your vision is showed, the more I fall in love
Ha ha! Yes, there's always chaos.
thank you for showing us your techniques!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The static grass at 30:50 is exactly what I wanted to know how to do.
Watching this makes me feel relaxed. If I ever try it I'm sure I'll be furious during most of my efforts. It looks amazing!
My kids and I love watching your videos. They are very relaxing and inspiring, cheers

Thanks Tino!
Beautiful!
Thank you 😊
Just ordered nearly $300 of supplies from Diorama Presepe, can't wait to get for our model railroad!
incredible as usual!
Thank you 😊
13:23 you see the “skull” in the mossy rocks? You gotta love those happy little accidents as Bob Ross would say.
Ha ha! Not sure Bob would have wanted a skull there, though 😊
I think he would. It’s like faces in trees!
this is the kind of thing i would go to the store and actually pay for
Amazing bravo sir..

It also helps if you make modular designs. So you can move the pieces around and take them apart, able to store things and help lay flat
Love your vid. I was wondering if you have ever used paper clay to trees
Thank you. No, not yet. But I have thought about it and may try it soon!
Love 😍😍😍😍
Thanks ☺️
Wow...
Ok, so I just had home made waffles, this video is the extra topping.

Awesome have you ever put fish in your water? I am trying some from mini prints in Canada some of the best models around they even do a bigfoot!!
I’d like to skip the years of experience part and get right on making one.

You should make a magical leprechaun forest
A fairy garden with houses set up like its a mossy garden
I make small villages for each holiday and want to incorporate the river/moss/trees into it. But they usually have 3-4 houses in each village. and about 24"x 24"
Cant wait tell the new video.. are you gonna make more. Are you alright during this crisis?
Thank you for your concern! Yes, I'm fine. Just very busy with opening my online store. I have a new video filmed. Hopefully won't be too long!
A question relating the Woodland scenics Fine turf. You call it green blend, but in their store they dont have such name... Its maybe "Green Grass"?
Maybe they don't make it anymore. It's definitely Green Blend.
@@HighEyeWorkshop Thank you :D. MB, i was looking in fine turf. There is a section for Blended turfs :D
What size styrene do you use "thickness"?
The board is about 2cm thick.

You liar! This is footage taken from a BBC documentary about the Amazon river!
Ha ha!

ok. lets see it again in ten years when all those natural materials are brown.
No need to watch the rest of the video seeing as you've shown the completed piece in detail at the beginning.
