I just wanted to say thank you. I played for about 10 minutes yesterday, watched this before bed and today I managed to get it with another 30 minutes of play. By far the hardest section for me to master was the pull cord bird with the bells. The last section with the birds and ice blocks had me worried but somehow I got that section on my first try.
Finall figured out the trick for the last spinning guy- the ice blocks last much longer than you think if you dont run, so jump onto the first one and wait a second to time the rest of your run. Trying to time It while running straight was just impossible.
The biggest problem with these sorts of things is they come at a time when you’re pretty much done with the game. They require so much repetition that you’re left feeling so burnt out and done with the game. This is the last thing I need to do to get the platinum and the memory of all the good stuff in the game is all but erased by this level. It’s poor game design in my opinion.
How is a very difficult optional post game challenge "poor game design". Nothing forces you to play it if it's not fun for you, nothing forces you to plat the game. If it ruins the game for you, it's not a game issue, its a you issue. A lot of people likes to get their skills pushed to the limit and platformers have done this for decades. The hardest challenges were the best part for me in astro bot. Personally there are many games that I love that I'd never 100% because of tediousness, doesn't make me like them less.

And if it was optional it would tell me I have 100% progressed the game in the PlayStation hub after completing all normal levels. Just like it tells me I have 100% completed spider man 2 even though I have only mainlined the story. I’m not one of the platinum grinding goons. It’s like the “secret” levels in Mario. They’re meant to be played. And those are very challenging. But still proportionate to the rest of the game. This and some of the lost levels are COMPLETELY disproportionate to the rest . That’s why it’s poor design
Done at last! This video was so helpful. Your endgame strategy with those bloody birds helped a ton. I eventually realised that aligning with a gap between birds while skating the lanes you recommended was the best way to clear a single jump over them from triangle onwards.
Nice tips, though I think the jump back at 1:40 is unnecessary. The enemy never attacks fast enough so you should be able to do it without stopping from what I remember. The bit at 1:55 is the most crucial tip of the run too imo. You don't mention it specifically when you do it, but skipping the X platform for the flamethrower makes this so much easier!
Thanks! I am very curious on how everyone else did that 1:40 part because I swear that's the only way I could consistently do it without the enemy hitting me every time. Yeah! I figured jumping to that X platform would be a nightmare, so that made sense!
Start spin attacking on the way up the first ramp, keep it going through all the blobs. Works every time, run straight through - no need for the extra jump.
Yeah the entire time I was doing this level I never had to dodge an attack from that enemy, I just immediately started running up and got to him before he could attack at all
yup!! that chameleon was really tough until i figured i could skip the triangle and go straight to the circle lol! i posted a vid on how i did it too, but wasnt a proper tutorial like this one (w commentary n all)
This was a nasty surprise when I completed that statue; I thought I'd seen the back of all those horrible symbol challenges but then it chucks this one at me, as a reward no less! Hey, I'm not complaining It's not like I didn't keep trying to beat it. I think these level kind of feel a bit like Dark Souls in that I never felt it was cheating or impossible or anything, just that I really, really had to pay attention and not bugger up!
I'm still working on it! I don't know if I'll ever complete this it seems impossible! Gonna keep trying though! EDIT! I did it!!! Such a huge sense of relief and I'm never going to do that level again 😂 thanks for the tutorial!!!

This video was a live saver especially the birds section. I was dying a lot in the 2 blobs in the metal cubes area, once you get far enough the stress starts getting to you 😅
I mean... I've found that sometimes its the most challenging levels that hold some of our greatest gaming memories. The easy stuff gets easily forgotten. But the levels we had to really work for to beat? Those feel earned, and those levels and battles stay with us, often becoming cherished gaming memories.
@@OtterloopB you have a point to a degree. This just feels so out of place in comparison to the rest of the game. Even the lost void levels are nowhere near the level of difficulty as this. I get it’s the final mission and there should be some challenge to it, but it’s meant mainly for kids and not supposed to be this extreme challenge you have to grind through to feel some sort of accomplishment. The joy and what I will remember ab the game is its atmosphere, level designs( apart from this one lol), music, and the cameos.
Is this your first platformer? Most of them will have an end game challenge level for those wanting a much harder challenge regardless of the rest of the game’s difficulty/feel.
@@Galactic613 nope. Avid Mario player. Not claiming it’s too difficult to beat. Simply claiming its difficulty is disproportionate to the entire rest of the game. Mario has plenty of challenging levels that are not at the end. And you get almost like a build up of difficulty towards the end, and then of course the end challenge levels like the badge one in Mario wonder. Seriously Astro bot as a whole is a freaking cake walk and unfortunately instead of ending the game with me smiling and like “aw that was cute” I ended up finishing the game a little annoyed
This seems to be staple in most platformers in general. Super Mario World had the special star level. This is nowhere as challenging as the special levels in Mario Wonder. Both games I referenced were easy but had challenging bonuses level after game completion. Don’t get too frustrated, take a break and you will eventually get it and feel rewarded.
Splshing Sprint took me 12 tries to beat. This took me 35. I hate when games expect perfection from you to beat a level, but their mechanics in game are nowhere near perfect. Also, the jump @ 1:45 is unnecessary. Just immediately head to the ramp after landing on the ice. You'll be faster than the slime enemy and can defeat it before it shoots.

Personally I thought To The Beat was harder. That level is all timing, which for me was difficult. Master Challenge is skill, and I found it to be easier. Don't get me wrong. Both are hard. But I took hundreds of deaths over two days on To The Beat, while The Master Challenge took one sitting. Maybe 45 minutes.
I finally beat this today after 4 days. I'm so happy I completed it that I'm not even remembering how stress out I was while trying to beat it. I'm just happy I got my platinium trophy. I don't really like super challenging games, but it feels good to be rewarded. I now get why some gamers like super challenging games now. Being rewarded feels good.
I honestly think ive tried this about 300 times and literally cannot get past the first purple monster thing because ive done what you did and jumped away from the goop but then the ice when i jump back has already fallen away.
After days of trying, I gave up on this level. I'm literally shaking while playing it. First half is super easy, but that damn second spinning enemy is always killing me. I got to the birds only for a few times and they still get me, even tho I'm sure I jump at the right moment. Tried jump over the edge, didn't help. Too sad that this level is the last thing you see in the game, kinda ruins the experience. ☹
I guess the secret here is whining because after writing this comment I tried for a few more times and managed to beat it 🗿🗿🗿 Tho I'm sure I just got lucky, I didn't stop or think, just run forward. But honestly, this level is a pure nightmare anyway.
Not a fan of this as the final challenge. After like the 1:32 mark I did it all on my first try. It ran out of steam super quickly. I think the reason why some struggle so much is that most of the level is movie in a straight line in the z-axis. Depth perception is super difficult here when you got huge gaps between floating platforms without depth. Super Mario Galaxy 2s final level is still the king of endgame platforming challenges imo. That one felt like an Odyssey.
I can't do this because when I was entering a level in one of the worlds I saw a secret level but it was too late I was already entering the level and I tried many times to make it show up but it wouldn't work and that's sad because I won't be able to 100% astro bot and that the low poly costume was my dream costume and now i won't be able to get it
So the guide is good - I’m grateful for how far you got me through the level. _But not your birds section!_ The only reason I have the platinum is because I stopped trying to jump through the ones I could just skate past!
I inadvertently beat this on my 4th try! Always a level for all us gamers that have is our achilles heal. Meaning we all have that one level that for some reason just gave us hell and took forever to beat! It never took me more then 5 tries on 99% of all levels. Then one level. A bonus set or how each world had o,x,□, triangle. Each world unlocked 4 sets of p.s. buttons. My achilles level was yhe bonus lava level where you grab the duck to cool the ground all the while duck water doesn't last long while spike balls twirl around...then the homing missile bastard s.o.b. knob gobbling peckerheaded sum ummm a beatch bastard!....lol. This was the only level that somehow became the bane of my existence! Almost 25-30 tries I believe. My son laughed his butt off listening to me die and also my reactions. Insanity of doing same thing with no new results! Then after lizard double set of flamethrowers with mud-oil substance you have to wash away...all the while its easier jumping as the timing is so tight the flames catch up and on your heels entire time. I try 5-6 times and then go to another world. I don't play nonstop til I beat it. Master challenge I got lucky I guess. One boss took me 5-6 tries as I didn't know the trick of it all. This game was fun but a Mario clone definitely. I thought it would be different but I paid for it so had to beat it all! Got platinum. Oh and figuring out where Lara croft was to take a pic of her and Nate. I unlocked all toy prize balls of 169 total. To finally realize she was the one being chased round and round by a dinosaur! Had to finally look up that trophy! To me they all almost look alike! Some are obviois while many were not! Game has a they played it safe and made a Mario game. No game like this is bad or fails. Anyways was fun! P
Lol you're gonna need more than an hour if you're not a super experienced platformer player I think. I spent two evenings total, probably 3-4 hours trying, before I finally beat it
This level really isn't that bad. For as much as it was hyped up, I thought it'd be worse. The X levels were harder imo. If you've done any of the Mario chanepion roads before, then you'll be fine
This level really made me hate the game. I can not beat it so I gave up after having tried so many times... Edit: After countless tries I was finally able to beat this level, twice! It didn't need to be this hard, they should at least add 1 checkpoint.

This level proves I'm not good at anything in life- even the things I use to escape life with, ie, video games. I truly hate who I am and I hate knowing I'll never get the last two trophies. I truly dislike Astro Bot because of this ending level. Kids beat it and people beat it with ease but not me.

For the part with the chickens, I would suggest double jumping. You have way more control, did it first try when I switched from simple jumps.

If you run straight at him after jumping om the ice you can hut him before he hits you much easier then the jumping method

I’m all for earning the platinum trophy but fuck me! So your “reward” for all the hard work to this point is this infuriating,piss take of a level
I was hoping I beat the game in 2 days but nooo this part want to screw me over and I just called it a night and hopefully beat it the next day
I literally won’t be buying Astrobot 2 if they pack it with levels like this. There is nothing more miserable than these kinds of levels

I inadvertently beat this on my 4th try! Always a level for all us gamers that have is our achilles heal. Meaning we all have that one level that for some reason just gave us hell and took forever to beat! It never took me more then 5 tries on 99% of all levels. Then one level. A bonus set or how each world had o,x,□, triangle. Each world unlocked 4 sets of p.s. buttons. My achilles level was yhe bonus lava level where you grab the duck to cool the ground all the while duck water doesn't last long while spike balls twirl around...then the homing missile bastard s.o.b. knob gobbling peckerheaded sum ummm a beatch bastard!....lol. This was the only level that somehow became the bane of my existence! Almost 25-30 tries I believe. My son laughed his butt off listening to me die and also my reactions. Insanity of doing same thing with no new results! Then after lizard double set of flamethrowers with mud-oil substance you have to wash away...all the while its easier jumping as the timing is so tight the flames catch up and on your heels entire time. I try 5-6 times and then go to another world. I don't play nonstop til I beat it. Master challenge I got lucky I guess. One boss took me 5-6 tries as I didn't know the trick of it all. This game was fun but a Mario clone definitely. I thought it would be different but I paid for it so had to beat it all! Got platinum. Oh and figuring out where Lara croft was to take a pic of her and Nate. I unlocked all toy prize balls of 169 total. To finally realize she was the one being chased round and round by a dinosaur! Had to finally look up that trophy! To me they all almost look alike! Some are obviois while many were not! Game has a they played it safe and made a Mario game. No game like this is bad or fails. Anyways was fun! P

Lol you're gonna need more than an hour if you're not a super experienced platformer player I think. I spent two evenings total, probably 3-4 hours trying, before I finally beat it

This level really isn't that bad. For as much as it was hyped up, I thought it'd be worse. The X levels were harder imo.
If you've done any of the Mario chanepion roads before, then you'll be fine

This level really made me hate the game. I can not beat it so I gave up after having tried so many times...
Edit: After countless tries I was finally able to beat this level, twice! It didn't need to be this hard, they should at least add 1 checkpoint.

I made the news if y'all wanna see how pathetic I am. Look up Rocky Point, NC man OD's due to hard video game level" get ready for a laugh. This level proves I'm not good at anything in life- even the things I use to escape life with, ie, video games. I truly hate who I am and I hate knowing I'll never get the last two trophies. I truly dislike Astro Bot because of this ending level. Kids beat it and people beat it with ease but not me.
