1981...winter or spring. I stayed home from high school that day and found myself watching AMC from a little tv I had in my room. I was hooked right away. I wanted to NOT go to school just so I could find out what happened next. I didn't do that but didn't need to. I found out that you could NOT watch the soap for weeks and the same storyline was still dragging on. Well, I guess that explains why I watch some reality tv shows. It all began with Erica Kane.
Daisy and Sean!!! Betsy and Rick! I forgot all about them. But now brings back so many memories when I was a little kid visiting my Mee-Maw. The ABC soaps were her favorites! Especially AMC. Edit: I'm sorry, but this Brooke is just terrible.
Susan was just stunning circa 1981, Mediterranean skin, gorgeous. I LOVED GILLIAN SPENCER!! She preferred writing over acting, albeit she was just a great actress!!
Dorothy Lyman was the BEST Opal Gardner (and deserved both Emmy's she won for that role) and Elissa Leeds was not good in the role of Brooke English. Luckily for us, Julia Barr returned the following year.
Kate Martin putting the "American Beauty" Erica Kane in check...PRICELESS AND HUMUROUS. Loved me some Erica, but it was fun to at times to see her taking down a peg or two every once in a while.
Jennie was stunningly beautiful- absolutely would have knocked Erica off the covers of every magazine in reality. Let's just be real about that! Tad was equally as stunning. It's unreal looking back & seeing how evil Palmer was in the beginning too. And Daisy looked like she escaped from a shock treatment room! What were they thinking!? 😅
I don't remember any other Brooke than Julia Barr, but according to wikipedia the role was "Originated by Elissa Leeds on March 10, 1976, she was portrayed by Julia Barr from June 1976 to June 1981 and from November 1982 to December 20, 2006. Jenny was special I always hated lysa and Greg's mom for being so mean to Jenny. KIM Delaney being Jenny did go on to a drama actress I've seen her play two.
