wow, thank you so much for your video. you are the only one who really explains everything precisely and does the home setup very accurately. thank you so much for your video. keep it up. you are the best when it comes to unifi. greetings from Switzerland.
Thanks for this & the 2023 video. Your content has been a big part in our company shifting to Ubiquiti products along with moving from Mitel to Unifi Talk in less than a week. Straight & to the point instructional videos with as little fluff as possible - cheers, brother.
Holy smokes this was a great video! Just what I needed. I worry a little about putting all my eggs in one basket at times but this seems like such a great service for my own company and the other small businesses I support that I'm pretty excited about the possibilities. Great job of explaining this feature and service. I much appreciate your expertise and help. Keep up the good work!
Ahoy, Cody. Mocha-Zilla is cute. They should be promoted to CO-CEOS of MacTelecom enterprises. Good brief on Unifi Talk. Thanks for the UniFi Identity softphone tip and the attendant tip. You did pass over the service type selection a bit quickly. All over Reddit land, UniFi Talk Basic uses are kvetching that inbound caller ID is not received. UniFI explains "complete service" in a bit of jargon. If you don't read through the comparison page carefully, you'll miss that inbound caller id delivery and caller id lookup are complete service capabilities. Thanks -- like your careful scripting and relaxed pace of presentation. You're one of the few that I'll actually watch do admin and use as a reference. Bravo-Zulu (I'm a former nuclear submariner).
Warning on the Free Trial!! The trial starts as soon as you install the Talk app, not when you've set up the Talk app. So, don't install it until you're ready to set it up.
hey man .. you helped me out once in the past so i thought i'd give it a shot a second time, i have a small problem, my home network work perfect on the UDM PRO with the AGG PRO as the Core Switch on 4096 STP folowed by 3 USW Aggregation 10 Gb switches on 8192 (for separate buildings) and an USW 16 PoE on 12288 STP priority fiber plugged directly into the core switch .. no loops, no problems with the STP .. the problem is like this : i have an A3 air sensor from uRADmonitor with an rj45 port that i connect to the USW 16 PoE in a non PoE port and for some reason the STP disables the port even if i disable the STP on that specific port .. i have tested the A3 on another switch (non Ubiquity, unmanaged) and it works fine .. it only happends in the Ubiquity switch .. it drives me nuts, i have disabled wireless meshing, tried restarting, tried diferent ports, sometimes the block goes away and after some time it comes back .. i tought i ask you maybe you ran into this before somewhere ..
A quick question: Can I have just one phone subscription locked and then use it on a front desk and then get a subscription unlocked to use as an extension?
Cody, one of our current analog lines is used for a dedicated fax machine. Is Ubiquti’s Talk software sophisticated enough that I could have people send faxes to our primary voice # and configure the system to automatically route the incoming fax call to a particular drop (in conjunction with a Unifi analog telephone adapter), or will it still require a dedicated phone number?
A long time ago i´ve try to add a third party SIP Provider but as i am in Costa Rica it does not allowed it, do you know if it´s just a restricted list or if any of the authorized SIP Providers have SIP numbers from Costa Rica?
How on earth does one change the frontend language? It's mentioned in the manual, but the option is apparently gone in the current firmware version? Changing the UI account language doesn't work, either. (The manual differs elsewhere too: Our devices now entirely lack the USB port that ought to be below the headphone jack.)
Thanks Cody. Didn't realise you could remotely adopt a phone via QR code, that's going to come in very handy. Not everything relevant here in the UK, no SMS option that I can see.
Cody, this video has been awesome helping me get my client converted over to Unifi Talk -THANKS! Couple questions: I think in the 2023 video you created a separate network for the phone sys? Yes or no? Seems like I saw that...if so -is that necessary? My sys is working just fine without doing that BUT maybe it does make more sense for the phone sys to have its own subnet? Last question: I have ONE incoming ISP at my client. They have a sister company at the same building, is it possible to have 2 UDM Pros on one ISP? 2 Different Unifi Accounts of course. Thanks for any help on this
Wait Cody. With your example of AI port, does this mean just by plugging it into the network, the datastream for the G4 Doorbell Pro will be parsed by the Ai Port and all AI detections become active? How would it handle 5 streams at once? Does that mean you can do a multi-select on Protect?
i think the same...I want remove my crappy old viop router with a ubiquity solution, but I don't know if there a way to do this... meanwhile have you find a solution ?
Does the soft phone app require connection to your LAN? Do you have to run teleport or other VPN on your cell phone in order to use the soft phone app remote?
Have you had the issue with the Softphone where outgoing audio is dropped (I.e the other person can’t hear you when on the Softphone) if you roam from access point to access point or cell tower to cell tower? I love the Softphone but it is incredibly annoying. Basically audio becomes one way where they can’t hear me but I can hear them until I put them on hold and then back off hold. It’s the only thing keeping me from deploying the softphones everywhere.
New to Unifi Talk here - I appreciate your video as it filled in a few blanks that I hadn't figured out on my own yet. Question though - playing with it I notice that it seems that a user cannot be assigned to more than one device, am I missing something? In my deployment I have more devices than actual users and am about to go creating dummy users for each device and that seems like it shouldn't be necessary... Note that with a 3rd party phone I'm using, each line on the phone is coming in as a distinct device which is making this even worse. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks ! Excellent video ! You know if in Europe, the UniFi talk have the same features you show to us? Or we have many limitations? I believe it's only possible to use with 3rd party voip provider. Thanks for your help. 👊
My issue is the locked phones won't let me setup a group for the number because it says the phones need to be assigned a number directly with it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. (obviously)
I'm using UniFi Talk in Germany since about one week. It seems to have potential, while it lacks some basic features. 1. It doesn't support the hd voice audio codec G.722, so all calls sound like in the 70s 2. It's not possible to disable voicemail for one incoming extension. I have a Video SIP door station on extension 0003, which calls 0001. Folks on my door also get the voice mail prompt. It's not possible to set a ring flow for the door station extension, when no external phone number is assigned. If I'd assign on, people could call my door station. Any workarounds or hints?
I know you can see your protect cameras from the phone. But if someone rings say a G4 doorbell or the G2 reader, can it ring to the phone so you can see who it is and let them in?
Hello.... not sure if I am the only guy but the fonts and keyboard on the touch max are WAY TO TINY! Is there any way to change this, thanks a bunch in advance.
Do you know if you can have one business phone number for multiple unified talk phones ? I currently have a touch max and 3 G3 touch pros but I am only allowed to give one phone my business line.
I cannot find anywhere to open up a UniFi Talk account. Plenty of hardware but no place to register for a Talk account or download a Talk app for our phones. What gives here??
Do you know if it will be possible to buy licenses for the mobile application independently of having to buy a pro plan package? I'd like to be able to buy licenses according to my customers' needs and not have to buy a new number for every 5 mobile licenses needed.
Is it though? I’m looking at switching from Nextiva paying 200/mo and think I can get that down to 10/mo with Unifi. Or what are you comparing too, curious?
Tip: if you don’t need it turn off advanced call routing. It adds a 5 second delay to calls.
Great tip

Any chance they have added video conferencing apps to the phone? Zoom/Teams/Google?
Excellent video and perfect timing. If someone calls one phone and there's no answer, can Unifi Talk auto-forward the call to other Unifi talk phones?
For the Softphone setting I had multiple screens to click before I received the screen you showed.

@@joshlarsen3260 yup you can if they are in the Unifi talk application.
I show near the end how to add remote phones using Unifi teleport
Great video. Do you know if one can port an existing 1800 number over to Unifi Talk?

Cody, you did not mention the Cloud Gateway Max as a compatible controller, works fine and has up to 2TB of NVMe SSD.
Yup I missed that but would work perfectly fine
@@MactelecomNetworks you did mention the cloud gateway max when listing compatible controllers! John must have missed it

You can use a third party sip you don’t need to buy the Ubiquiti sip trunk
@@MactelecomNetworks Thanks, but you do need at least 1 of their phones to last startup, correct?

@@shaynetaylor1720 as of right now yes you do
You need to have a UniFi phone connected for setup. I could remove that after initial setup, using only 3rd party phones.
VOIP has become SUPER competitive. Unbiquiti's prices a very high compared to others in the market. They need to become more competitive.
