A very emotional video Jamie. I'm proud of you Jason, and how you reacted in dealing with the fire and in addition being able to talk about it. To be able to share the harrowing experience your family suffered with people is a blessing as it will educate others to the dangers of fire and electrical charging failures, thank you.
Heartbreaking! So pleased Jason and his family are fine, and yes the car can be replaced but that car and its history, Jason's time and effort, and the late nights working on it can't be replaced and that's sad, really sad.
Absolutely gutted for him. when he posted it up on socials my heart sank a little after watching the work he's done 😞 glad the family, most pets and house are OK though.
When your old and grey you will have great memories of owning that car but better memories with your beautiful kids. So happy your here to shrug a disaster like that off 🙏🏻
Wow, most important thing was your family are all safe, material things can be replaced. But having followed your resto vids last year absolutely gutted for you buddy 😔👍
Glad you're all safe mate, gutted about the car. This is exactly why I don't trust technology, I tell my other half and the kids NEVER leave ANYTHING on charge over night or for extended periods of time. I even check mobile phone chargers to make sure they are all turned off before bed. The fire service did a job second to none, we take them for granted until... God forbid our hour of need. All the best mate.
This is a very powerful video. Yes, we've heard of such fires before, but this story will have resonated with car fans and family men (and women) alike. If we've learned a lesson, then some good has come of this. Thank you both for sharing.
In 1986 in our home town of Letterkenny there was a fire where 4 kids and their babysitter lost their lives - we knew the family well - it was just an awful tragedy which still gets talked about today - The grief will never subside - Yours could have been a different story so easily but you are all safe and your house survived relatively well- You have taken it well lad but still I'm gutted for you ! Onwards and upwards!!
Absolutely devestated for you Jason but least you still here to tell the tale thank you for sharing this and now I have just switched off my chargers 👊
Bless you and your family! Such a shame this has happened! Yeah a car can be replaced for sure! Such a shame that you have put all your heart and soul into your car and it’s taken! Hope you get something great as you deserve it bud! Love from my family to yours pal!! 👍👍
Glad you and the family are safe. Must have been difficult recording this, but thank you. It's been been eye opener for me and I'll think twice in future.
I seen on social media when jason posted it and the pictures that was floating about online, was genuinely gutted😢..I see the full built process and everything Jason did on the RS turbo, for it all to be wiped away in a flash due to a shitty lithium battery is heart breaking!! Gutted for you jase, but it’s only a lump of metal and compared to you and your family’s life the car is worthless!..so glad to hear you and everyone involved are perfectly fine👏🏼💯..onto bigger and better now, only way is up💙
Thank you for sharing this video so clad you and your family all save 🙏 so hart braking about the escort metal can be replaced!.. makes everyone think about leaving things on charge
Thats awful, So sorry to hear about this. Glad your family are safe. As said your car can be replaced. Rip the pet you lost. Cant imagine what has gone through your head since. Thank goodness for the lights and the early warning
as my late father use to say a car can be replaced a life cant gutted it happend as loved that S1 but main thing you and the family are safe with the house ❤
I am honestly so glad Jason's family is safe and sound it is a massive shame about the car but I have seen these battery fires and he got lucky with the Christmas lights having a problem could of been so much worse just wishing him and his family the best 🙂
Glad you are all safe that’s the main thing I’ve just installed 2x wireless smoke/fire alarms in my garage Also have smart plugs that I can turn off power to electrical items in there Better safe than sorry
Nightmare I lost my volvo t5 estate a few years back abs pump decided to burn at 7.30 in the morning, parked up against garage managed to push it up hill on my own into the road like yours total loss I feel for you man, makes me wonder it the EV charging is safe left over night battery's can be very unpredictable, good luck for the future and I hope you find something similar to replace it all the best Jim
Can tell this is still very hard to talk about just glad they all made it out safe , this is why you don't charge lithium batteries over night in inside as once they catch fire your not stopping them quickly
My kitchen caught fire 2 years ago in Jan. Lost me dog, me cat and a rabbit. No insurance on contents. Got a massive ammount of escort parts up the loft and thankfully they are ok. Still got drawers full of stuff that need cleaned soot off. Smoke gets into everything man. Glad you are all ok. You are right about charging stuff. Were surrounding ourselves with these things more and more. Charge stuff outside people or keep one eye on them. Trust nothing people.. Rip escort.
So sorry to hear your story Jason, gutted about the car and poor pet, but glad everyone else is okay. Having been through the same, fridge freezer caused it though, it’s tough to get that smell out of everything isn’t it! There’s a reason in the RC world these batteries are always charged in fire proof bags but as you say, they don’t make that clear enough on scooters and bikes etc. I know part of this video was to get the true story out there but also hopefully it will help spread the word about the risks of charging these batteries indoors!
Noooo that’s absolutely gutting. I like Jason he’s always been a good thing for this channel and that’s terrible! The family are all ok thankfully. Let’s hope this isn’t an issue for others charging stuff up as it’s an ever growing trend for households now be it cars,E bikes and scooters.
Bad things happen to good people, but I'm sure you had lots of good times owning it and building it hope you do get to build another one again in thevfuture .
We had a major house fire in 2014 and it’s the worst thing, smoke and water make the most damage! Hope you and your family are ok bud, I know what you’re going though 👍
Yano what guys it's all about everyone being safe. Absolutely gutted for you all for sure and it's a very very scary thing what you have experienced. We all go mental with electronics and like you safe it's such a dangerous thing. But for sure it will make me think about it, sorry and also thanks for giving us all a heads up regarding safety. Take care of yaself bud ✌🏼💙
A sobering tale. Thank God it didn’t end up so much worse, and a real wake up call to the dangers of Lithium batteries, crazy these things are considered to be the future!
What a horrible thing to happen. So sorry to hear about the tortoise, car and house damage. LiPo fires are scary. I don't think most people realise the risks.
Thats very sad news but in fairness the car held up the fire giving you much needed time to raise the alarm! I feel for you Jason also for your family as it must have been a harrowing experience! Take care
Sorry mate but as you said your all safe Cars are your pride and joy and because of no fault of your own your hard work lost God bless your all safe 😢👍👨🏻🏭
Poor Jason, poor tortoise rip! but your house and family are safe! Insurance is there for a reason... I know your gonna be bummed about the car for a few months but the money I hope your getting from Insurance will be there ready for when u r
If any positive can come from this is that we won’t be charging lithium batteries inside the house now and lots of others will do the same. Very sad to loose a car and garage but family and house escaped, that puts everything in perspective.
Xr3 top speed was 120 mph with 4 speed box xr3i was 118 mph rs 1600 was 123 all on the clock I drove all 3 and raced xr2s best horse power I got from a cvh 1.6 was 162bhp on a carb did 7 mpg non turbo but the engine was only cvh on the outside lol
its scary that to save the world we are told to go Green and go "Electric", yet No fire brigade in the world is Not equipped to put out a modern "Battery" fire! I live in Kent where they are building (against Heavy protest) a huge Solar array to power London with the potential to trump Hiroshima! Love your XR i had a Mad XR3I, Loved it to bits (Biggest regret)! Glad You and your family made it ok!
was almost too painful to watch and I could see he was struggling to talk about after all this time. Just goes to show you what can happen really put you off buying anything like that that comes from China but There’s no getting away from it most stuff does 😢

Cheap Chinese junk setting on fire is really quite common. Certainly prevalent in things like scooters and cheap e-cigs.
