  • So I decided to go on a road trip in my 1979 Camaro Z28 which I call the Cursemaro due to it's likelihood of breaking down minutes from the house... because Roadkill! Join us on the journey in this Classic Chevy to Lake Superior in Upper Peninsula Michigan and a couple of other stops in Wisconsin Dells and Phelps which is in the northwoods. Why did we pick the old logging town of Ontonagon, MI as our destination? Still can't answer that one for you... Do we ever find Lake Superior? Does the Cursemaro live up to it's name and leave us stranded? All these questions answered and more!

      In the next 2 days I’m going to be going from kenosha Wisconsin to winter Wisconsin which is about 345miles away and 5 1/2 hours in my 95 camaro z/28. I’ve only had the car for 2 months so this is gonna be interesting

    of the big lake they call “gitchie gumee”.
    Great to see the Z make it back home in one piece.
    Nothing beats a road trip with family, friends or even flying solo.
    Some people want to see England , or Spain , or Asia. Hell I just wanna see all of this beautiful nation that I live in. Thanks for the awesome video. Excellent editing!!Brings back some great memories of driving up to the Dells area with my family. Way back in the day. Lol

    Just discovered some of your videos recently and I have to say that I am really digging them. Mainly because I just dragged a 78 Camaro RS home to Arkansas from Texas and finding a lot of relatable issues that your Camaro has/had. It's challenging me to do projects that are brand new and intimidating to me but I am determined to save this ole girl and get her back to those glory days she once had. Thanks man for some interesting content.

    Great video. Once again I can truly relate to it. We've taken many trips from Wisconsin back to the U.P.! Haven't been to superior yet though. Here's an idea...take the lake Superior circle tour. Our Camaro club would definitely join you if you go! And take pictures of what you pack in the small trunk. That's always interesting given the size of the trunk! Have you ever been to Iola Wisconsin's car show and swap meet? Hope to see the cursemaro there someday!

    From one aspiring car enthusiast to another, is theft a big problem regarding these classic car road trips? I'm contemplating a trip from Alberta to Ontario next year. That's a 30-35 hr. trip or 3195 km. My biggest fear is the idea of booking a night at a motel only for my car to end up gone the next morning. Is it something I should worry about or am I just overreacting?

    • @BustedClassicGarage
      @BustedClassicGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think about the same thing every time I go out on a road trip especially when I did power tour 2019. The year prior in 2018 a lot of cars were stolen during the event. A first thing I do before I book any room on any road trip I will look up the area of that motel is in. If it's a very densely populated area I will look at crime maps of that city and see if I'm not going into a bad neighborhood. I did a road trip around lake Michigan in 2020 with my friends and I was planning on staying in Grand Rapids and realized that the place I wanted to stay had crime reports of vehicle theft in recent months. If I do have to stay somewhere very questionable then I will disable the car in some way. For instance pulling the MSD6A Box or pulling 2 spark plugs wires or unhooking your battery. I always say to the person I'm with on the road trip, "good luck troubleshooting to get it started." Lol! They definitely won't be able to hotwire the car and steal it that way, they would have to basically flat bed it out. So yeah man you are definitely not overreacting it is a true fear of a lot of us car guys. But take your precautions and enjoy your trip man!

      Im si scared to take my 81 ttop on interstate. Now you gave me the balls to take off and dont look back

    • @BustedClassicGarage
      @BustedClassicGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My biggest issue going over 55 was my car would really shake that's why I stayed off the interstate for the longest time. Once I replace the driveshaft the axle shafts, rims and tires ( because the guy before me smashed a curb and bent the axle shafts and rims) my vibration was gone and I felt a lot safer being on the interstate. So as long as you get any issues that you have fixed that are going to keep you from driving at fast speed safely, go for it.
