I adore how Oceaniz treats the monsters like animals in these stories. Making the hunter's first encounter with Legiacrus a threat display instead of a frantic escape- what I would definitely have written- was such a brilliant move, adding a great sense of this world
The piano cover of "proof of a hero" with our hero hunter giving a speech to the villagers was absolute gold! Literally got me having goosebumps and hair standing up. Holy hell this was definitely worth the wait!!

This felt very personal to me. I started my hunting journey with 3 Ultimate. I nonchalantly progressed through the first few quests, falling in love with the Dual Blades until I reached the Lagiacrus ambush. I abandoned and tried to become stronger and craft better gear. But after accepting that it was the only way to progress, I completed the quest and played non stop, every day from that point until I solo'ed all of G-Rank, in the 3DS no less. Monster Hunter has been one of my favourite things, ever, from that point on!

This is such a good way of telling the story of a mainline game without just adding flavour text to what is otherwise essentially a "protagonist saves all" story. Weaving in aspects of found family and actually adding in the hunters training as actual quests fron the game rather than something out of the way is such an obvious yet amazing detail. It was also cool to see one of my top favourit monsters in lagiacrus show up in one of these so that was cool.Often times i do get frustrated with open ended stories when the story was getting really good, but this one im really satisfied with given the context of what led up to the final battle, the poem foreshadowing the potential outcome of the battle whichever way you personally believe it went/interpret it. Plus i also never knew that the bioluminescent segments on cedeus could actually glow red when fully enraged, so its also a great way of teaching new and old players alike some cool details/facts about the world of mh as a whole. Overall another amazing video, absolute quality content and keep up the great work.

Not sure if this is taken directly from canon, but the fact that Lagiacrus see humans as threats is fascinating. I loved the threat display scene at the beginning. On the topic of Lagiacrus ecology, why would Lagiacrus rely on birds to clean their teeth? Most crocodilian species clean their teeth simply by swimming with their mouths open, only Nile Crocodiles live in symbiosis with Egyptian Plovers who clean their teeth. Even if they did need their teeth cleaned by animals, they are largely marine and live in a tropical reef, could they not let cleanerfish pick their teeth? I imagine it was probably just a choice to explain why Lagiacrus rests on land aside from just to sunbathe, but it is interesting from an ecological perspective
Capcom should legit hire you I am not joking your ideas and storytelling skills are downright phenomenal, I'd watch your shit any day, it's already entertaining enough as youtube videos. Millions maybe billions of dollars are seriously at stake if they continue to sleep on you dude.
I cannot describe how much I loved that! Especially the part of defiance against the orders of the Guild. As someone who started with his Monster Hunter journey in Monster Hunter Tri, I felt that part deep in my soul. Just amazing work, man.
I've enjoyed the MH stories you have created with what little lore the MH series has to offer. The main titles have never really had a "main story " and was just a repetition of "killer next bigger thing for bigger weapon/better armor." Breathing some life into the world of MH tri was told rather well, and I Dldefinitely remember playing the heck out of Tri and 3u during its prime. This is a random suggestion for a story for you to consider: in the 1st MH game, there is a story of how, in the past, the max quest size that was allowed was 5. This ended up changing due to the village elder who lost his daughter during a Lao Shan Lung defense. It was said that she lost her life due to the Ioprey that gathered in between the area that stretched from the main camp and the final area that contained the last line of defense against the elder dragon. Upon the loss of the chieftains' daughter, he changed it that now any quest from then on would only allow for a max party size of 4, as to ensure that no one else should meet the same fate. This is just a random bit of MH lore I discovered while playing through the very first MH title on the PS2, which, unless you actively went and talked to everyone or got the random info books, would never know. Hope you get to read this and reply with your thoughts.
I never really understood how the 5 party quest was considered to be the culprit behind one of the members dying. I figured that be it 2, 3, 4, or 5, members seem to stick together in any of the in-game videos we see (like the 4U intro with Seregios) so I don’t see how someone being left behind can be attributed to being the 5th member. Mind shedding some light on that? Either way it’s an interesting story. I always saw people get it mixed up with the Kokoto Chief’s wife being killed by Monoblos as a 5th party member
@EmblemBlade9 The only thing I could figure out is that when you are defending against a Lao, you'd probably want to have all hands on deck. So the chief maybe wanted his daughter to assist as a means to better herself as a hunter and help with repel, but ultimately, it came back to bite him in the end. Granted it's hard to tell how all these game fall into a time line if at all, but if we assume that MH one is in the past it technically drives the methods of the madness for the future and future titles. On a side note, there are the MH frontier Ravienete fights where you get 4 AI to assist you, which is way bigger than Lao so that makes sense. Thanks for the reply :)
I listen to a lot of videos awhile I'm at work so I can get inspired ,so when I'm home I can work on my own stories and this story inspired me so much. I would be lying if I said I didn't get teary eyed at work awhile listening to it, thank you so much for this incredible tale.
Thank you. Thank you. Just thank you. I can’t believe this. I am a 3rd gen hunter, Monster hunter 3 Ultimate was my very first experience in this franchise, and I was so happy to play this every second, minute, and hour of every day I had with my older brother this is our starting point, our beginning as hunters, and because of you I get to see this amazing story be told through a different light. Lords the sea, Gods of the abyss, you actually recreated the moment when I first did the quest to hunt the two fish which then forced you to encounter the Lagiacrus, it looked at me, like REALLY looked at me and I felt DREAD, I got so scared I put the game down for a few minutes and then ran away the instant i unpaused, this was my origin as a hunter. I love Monster Hunter so much and to see others with just as much passion, and history as me with this franchise is something I hold so close to my heart. Thank you for this Oceaniz!
You found a way to display what many of us felt when experiencing Tri. It was my first in the series, and inspired a deep love for this series, and games in general. From the deepest depths of Moga's seas, I thank you so much for this!
I could be wrong, but I would assume the author survived since he wrote the last entry where he fought ceadeus. Perhaps he eventually stopped writing and just chilled in moga village. Unlike the [R E D A C T E D] story where the author's last entry was them prepping for the fight again.
The original story from both tri and 3 ultimate try to do different things like for example the plot twist with Ceadeus, but like from the 1st and 2nd generations, it was kind of basic. But this series shows this story to its PURE ZENITH. A pure piece of art, showing off that special feeling, and pride with the this game. I myself as a Monster Hunter fan, could simply be amazed by this. To put this simply, thank you Oceaniz. Really makes me want to play MH3U, and I’m excited to see what other legends are going to be.
:') Thank you so much for this marvelous story, Ocean! Tri was my very first Monster Hunter, picked up from a second hand shelf in a shop in a half empty mall during a vacation in... Ireland, I think? I saw the Lagiacrus on the cover, the low price, and felt *compelled* to buy It. When I brought It back home, I swiftly put It in my Wii, and then proceeded to spend the next week getting pummeled over and over by Great Jaggis as my swings missed and I struggled to find the full lock on feature. Also, the online of this game was the first time in my life I was ever called a "noob" by a couple of High rank players and had no fudging clue what It even meant for months. Good times.
You Literally described the deeper layers of what I've felt while experiencing this game as a summary haha thx for this made me very nostalgic and dreaming about a monster hunter world 2 with seafights :D
Excellent work yet again. Your use of characterization, story structure, and world building for your narrative is just top notch. Having the story build to an open ended yet satisfying climax is not an easy thing to pull off. Said it before, your writing talent is far greater than most anything we've recieved in movies and shows for the past few years I could watch your videos a hundred times over before I'd ever be willing to sit through the likes of Rings of Power, She-Hulk, or Willow ever again in this lifetime
Oceaniz this is amazing. This and all of your other Legends and lore videos have inspired me to make a Monster Hunter D&D game based around videos like this. I keep finding myself coming back to your videos for references and lore that I may have missed or forgotten. Side note: I'm hoping there is a sequel to this story that includes the G Rank Quests up to Dire Moralis
Imagine your hunter is killed by the Guilds' Knight for disobeying As always, REALLY good video, probably my favourite, you actually made me want to replay 3tri
The speech and the kindness that is given after, made me emotional and brought a tear to my eye, it is whether or not confirmed that the hunter survived, them being one with nature while fighting nature itself is one of the most hyped up moments I have ever imagined! It's as if... The ocean is watching. I cannot wait for the future projects that only THE Oceaniz can create, your content is so admirable and jaw dropping. Your content is one of the greatest pieces of fiction my ears have heard in it's life. As of the Hunter, I don't know what they did for them to get to where they are, but I am happy that they have found their place in life, their place in the nature.
Always loved the story of Tri since its a story that takes place in a small village rather than a large guild focused town. Love the video dude good job!
As someone who's entry to the MH franchise was Tri and 3U, I feel you've almost perfectly captured the feelings the two games still give me to this day. I especially enjoyed the fact that you put a bit of background behind the hunter and included Moonquake in the audio during their battle with Ceadeus. My only complaint is that I would like a followup for the high rank and g rank quests. Thank you for making a great representation of my personal favorite in the series.
Not gonna lie, I cried twice. First with the Village Chief, because I also had my time when reading about his past, and somehow, I don't know why, but I felt inspired and also all of his hunter tips that still are in my mind afer all these years helped me a lot in the progress of the game. So it's fine to say that I see Moga's Chief as a father, of some sort. And second, with the 2nd phase song of Ceadeus battle, it brings so many memories, many of them. Maybe that's the reason why I love MHtri, it feels me with a lot of feelings. Thanks for this.
Dude that ending, it felt like something straight from Star Wars Rebels when that one character let themselves be in the moment and did what they needed to do.
This video is sick dude. I love your storytelling, this has got to be my favorite video of yours yet. The arc this character goes through, the villagers banding together, the descriptions of the monsters, the fights and all the little details, and oh my god your descriptions of caedeus are all absolutely incredible! Please keep making these I love these stories so much and they're giving me so much inspiration for my own writing.
This was such a fantastic video! Easily one of your best MH so far and another incredible display of you taking the lore of MH and expanding it so much more than in the game! This is such an intriguing and expansive version of monster hunter 3 and makes you truly feel Moga village is a breathing community fighting to keep its existence while the hunter is a character seeking purpose and being able to make a difference in his life rather than some empty insert character the player controls. The final battle against Ceadeus was thrilling and shows the accumulation of the main characters journey and feels so much more alive! Seriously Oceaniz, you’ve outdone yourself yet again with this awesome take on MH3’s story and I can’t wait to see more videos like this one in the future!
That Humming sound pulsating while you narrate the first encounter with Lagiacrus gave me the chills! I've been binge watching your videos while at work and damn I really love your work!
This is an amazing video. Not only is it a very good original story that elaborates further on elements the story like the story of the chief and the reason why the hunter is there, but it also filled me with nostalgia. My first monster hunter game was MH 3 for the Wii and therefore my first elder dragon fight was Caedeus, still being my favorite fight in the entire series. Hearing the boss music was both ptsd and nostalgia inducing! A fantastic video!
I love this log book styles videos they feel like something that actually happend in the mh world. And Moga is my favorite village I would have slain a flock of Fatalis to proteced it!
Yes! Thank You so much oceaniz! I love your mh stories to the moon the storytelling ability is amazing hope you have a lot more ideas to come in the future ❤
Dang these videos are some of my favorites yet! Amazing and tense storytelling, and the fact that I’m pretty new to monster Hunter adds a sense of mystery and awe to these creatures you describe. Please keep up the amazing work!!! 👍👍
Listening to this again, over a year later and my only complaint is that there's no returning to the village at the end. God damn but I love this. Kudos to you!
I love this kind of videos from you, basically retelling of the games from the player hunter's perspective (except maybe the Fatalis one, he's no sapphire star but it's still a damn good video) I wonder if you'll make videos retelling older games, like the original PS2 game, MH1 & Freedom needs more love
Can you please do more of these kinds of videos? This is absolutely amazing! The vocal b presentation, the sound effects, and images to match the story were fantastically well done. If it wasn't for the ads, I would have thought I was listening to a book on Audible.
Im still new to the series with Rise but seeing videos like these that cover the imaginative lore of the other games, it makes me just as excited for when I get to play them all. I love your stuff, Oceaniz☺️
Theese videos fill me with so many emotions and nostalgia, i love them. I would love a story about the acient civilization, like the POV of a person that had to live through the dire miralis sinking of the island
is this MH3 story? holy shit its good why is no one talking about it? if this was done with modern tech and animations this could have been the best MH story and game even
Well, it receives a lot of expansion in this video to make it a more proper “legend”, but it basically is Tri’s story, yes. To recap how it goes in Tri: You are a hunter who has been sent to Moga Village to investigate the earthquake problem. On one of the early game gathering quests, you are jumpscared by Lagiacrus, as it occurred in this video, and when you finish the quest the Chief tells you that’s indeed the monster causing the earthquakes. You do a few more quests, some of which result in the village’s farms and fishing fleet being gradually repaired, and meet Cha-Cha (interestingly, in Tri it’s noted that the Shakalaka are a rather dangerous tribe and you’re sent to investigate the discovery of one near the village, but it turns out Cha-Cha is just a child so the village takes him in). A few urgent quests later and you face off against the Lagiacrus, who has surfaced to land. The whole “villagers luring it out to land” thing doesn’t happen in Tri, but the cleaning teeth may be a lore detail from the art books. If not, then it’s almost certainly inspired by real like crocodilian behaviors. Anyway, beating Lagiacrus on land repels it, and not long after you do the quest to slay it. After doing so, the village receives more tremors and you soon find out about the Ceadeus and order to evacuate. If I’m not mistaken, Cha-Cha actually discovers the Ceadeus and ancient ruins that it’s residing in, after running off and accidentally falling into the sea lol. Also, the night chat between the Chief and hunter doesn’t happen, but what he says about building Moga over the ruins of his ancestors is something he says in-game, and he was retired by Ivory Lagiacrus though this only exists in MH3U. You do also find underwater artillery ammo, though nothing is mentioned of the villagers dropping it down there, I assume it was just leftover in the ancient ruins. I like this embellishment a lot. Oh and the stuff where Aisha deceives the guild is also what happens in-game. Don’t worry, it works out in the end. The final quest has you repelling Ceadeus by breaking its overgrown horn and the last cutscene shows it breaching the surface of the waves and swimming out to sea. And that’s Tri! The first of the games to start the story trend of the flagship monster causing a problem, and defeating it reveals the elder dragon behind it. But as seen through this video, reducing it to something so simple does a disservice to the experience of the story, characters, and setting!
yes and no. it's fanficition dramatizing the MH-tri campaign events. the story of the game itself is not that different from most other MH-titles in terms of it's narrative. this video does portray the story as having more depth than how it appears in-game. the video descriptions even admits as much; "- This story exaggerates elements found in the game's text. The player being sent to Moga to simply be out of the Guilds way, the abandonment of Moga, the story of the chief - all of them are in the game, but much more subtle and superficial, since MH3/3U are not super story focused."
Im not that kind of men who comment much, even as a french guy on an english speaking video But god, your stories are always awesome , very well made and you speak with a very clear and clean voice wicht is a bless for the ears. Those illustrations are very fitting too! That's a beautiful work well done

Thanks! Always appreciate the time stamps😊😊
In 4U, she is also called Aisha in Japanese. Every Guild Receptionist tends to have a name that isn't well known outside of those who really dig.
@@FirithPanda and she’s also called that in Monster Hunter Flash (a mh manga), even if it may not be reliable for canon’s sake.
Pronunciation must be a raw nerve.

Rest in peace dualbladesman, Moga village is finally secured thanks for your efforts
Said it before, your writing talent is far greater than most anything we've recieved in movies and shows for the past few years
I could watch your videos a hundred times over before I'd ever be willing to sit through the likes of Rings of Power, She-Hulk, or Willow ever again in this lifetime
You’re probably one of the highest quality content creators out there.
23:32 is that Leif Erikson from Vinland Saga's 1st episode? Very random to see but also very cool, love the video so far and now back to watching
You must remember we are all blessed to be born in a era where this man exist
Imagine your hunter is killed by the Guilds' Knight for disobeying
As always, REALLY good video, probably my favourite, you actually made me want to replay 3tri
I have no idea why it took me so long to watch this video but holy shit, that was AMAZING
I just want you to know that i watch your content with 0 skip, that's how good your shit is.
Please do continue
That whole letter scene, that was fucking beautiful man
This was such a fantastic video!
Seriously Oceaniz, you’ve outdone yourself yet again with this awesome take on MH3’s story and I can’t wait to see more videos like this one in the future!
this is such an excellent backstory for the first hero of Moga Village
That Humming sound pulsating while you narrate the first encounter with Lagiacrus gave me the chills!
I've been binge watching your videos while at work and damn I really love your work!
Man this makes me want to play MH3U again!
Phenomenal take on Tri's story, Oceaniz! Btw, is the thumbnail supposed to be concept art of Ceadeus?
Yes!
Simply amazing!! I legit had to hold a tear during the guild letter segment.
Man I love this new series were you tell a tale as a hunter, please keep it up!
I had shivers during the Ceadeus fight
The whole video is amazing, so well-written, told and illustrated
My day is all sunny because of you, thank you
Did you make a homage to Godzilla 2019 with the first Lagiactus encounter? Really well done regardless
I love this log book styles videos they feel like something that actually happend in the mh world. And Moga is my favorite village I would have slain a flock of Fatalis to proteced it!
Great start to day going to work with an hour long monster hunter video to listen too
Yes! Thank You so much oceaniz! I love your mh stories to the moon the storytelling ability is amazing hope you have a lot more ideas to come in the future ❤
As always, you knock these documenteries out the park. Keep swinging, man!
I am in love with your story! It's soooo epic i couldn't stop watching until the end!
I love this kind of videos from you, basically retelling of the games from the player hunter's perspective (except maybe the Fatalis one, he's no sapphire star but it's still a damn good video)
I wonder if you'll make videos retelling older games, like the original PS2 game, MH1 & Freedom needs more love
your work ignites my creativity and makes me want to write monster hunter fiction of my own.
Can you please do more of these kinds of videos? This is absolutely amazing! The vocal b presentation, the sound effects, and images to match the story were fantastically well done. If it wasn't for the ads, I would have thought I was listening to a book on Audible.
If you think i'm gonna get enotional watching a monster hunter video. . . Then you're right, excuse me i need a tissue
Perfect timing tysm for posting I enjoy these videos so much💯
You’re an amazing storyteller.
I got chills during the poem.
Bruh, this was my 1st game in the series! This not only brings back such good memories, but a tear to my eye! 🥲
Im still new to the series with Rise but seeing videos like these that cover the imaginative lore of the other games, it makes me just as excited for when I get to play them all. I love your stuff, Oceaniz☺️
Theese videos fill me with so many emotions and nostalgia, i love them.
I would love a story about the acient civilization, like the POV of a person that had to live through the dire miralis sinking of the island
i love the legend videos, you make them so real and intense. my only wish would be if they came out more often
what a good story man. Love this type of content
Oh my god, dude. I have nothing. you left me speechless. thank you again for yet another amazing story.
It’s amazing how you will make underwater popular thanks to your fanfics.
Shoutout to you bro, keep it fresh.
I was heartbroken when I realized that there were only two of these that you had made. This was utterly amazing to listen to!
Really beautiful editing work on those images! 🤩
Wow didn't knew the protagonist was from Monster Hunters Never Cry V, son of a powerful long sword user.
Dude, if the poem was a LITTLE BIT more vague, we could say that the hunter may have survived Ceadeus, but may or not met his demise against Alatreon.
I realize this is the first time I hear "ballista" out loud and I've read it wrong for a decade
is this MH3 story? holy shit its good why is no one talking about it?
if this was done with modern tech and animations this could have been the best MH story and game even
Well, it receives a lot of expansion in this video to make it a more proper “legend”, but it basically is Tri’s story, yes.
To recap how it goes in Tri:
You are a hunter who has been sent to Moga Village to investigate the earthquake problem.
This was awesome. Thank you for creating this amazing video.
Now THIS is perfection!
LADS NEW OCEANIZ LEGENDS VIDEO JUST DROPPED
I absolutely love these stories! Thank you for this amazing stuff! I appreciate all of it!
Gahhh this is beautiful! I love your stories so much, your voice adds so much and the visuals are beautiful.
This legit helped me make a DnD campaign, thank you
The end of chapter 3 made me cry fr
Oml...a fanfic of my Favorite game i ever played...great job for bringing so much Honor to a game i hold so dearly in my heart
and great job too.
This is beautiful, my lord.
Im not that kind of men who comment much, even as a french guy on an english speaking video
But god, your stories are always awesome , very well made and you speak with a very clear and clean voice wicht is a bless for the ears. Those illustrations are very fitting too!
That's a beautiful work well done
No words could express how much I love this. ♥
