- After recovering from a crash on our first day in Vietnam, the rain came pouring down. I got lost from my fellow travelers @baldandbankrupt and @BackpackerBen on the road. We ended the day seeking refuge in a bus.

First time i went to vietnam i was told the worst thing about them, finally when i got there i got 0 problems with anyone, everyone was friendly, even with their limited english they tried their best to help, glad to see you guys had the same experience.
now, viet nam very safety, friendly, cheap, landscapes... because in viet nam do not using the guns. welcom to viet nam

One day it started raining, and it didn't quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin' rain... and big ol' fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways.
Dudes pizza looked great. Perfectly round despite being hand tossed and he didn't handle the dough too much which makes it tough. Looked great
The bus actually looked nice, and it was cool they went out of their way to do all the work.
The dried fruit in a dish you were wondering about are dried apricots. They are preserved with sugar, salt, ginger, lemon, and licorice.

Tim, what fantastic video/sound quality in demanding conditions. i wish i knew your secrets. i understood near every conversation word despite the often noisy backgrounds (cafes, motorcycle engine running, busy road traffic) and your natural aptitude for “off the cuff” comment is a skill i envy. bottom line as viewer is pure enjoyment, thanks. how you pan so naturally to different POVs amazes.
And it gets better each year, I also uniquely like the family man Tim which sets apart him from other adventure TH-camrs

I was on active duty from 93 to 02. I was in Korea in 94 and again in 98. Some of the country side looks a lot like Korea. Damn that was some of the best times of my life

You realize your smartphones have translation software and even realtime speaking translation by Google . The need to figure out what one is saying in another language when travelling or actually anytime is no longer an issue .

As being born raised in Netherlands en fortunate to visit Vietnam several times since 2009. My opnion is since ww2 not much western interfered wars brought progress worth the sacrifice made by it civilians for it.

Hello to you Tim and your friends wow that bus experience loading the motorbikes and then putting bags on top of the bus they would not allow nothing like that in California LOL strict rules haha. You need to get you about two jackets cut one side off and sew it together so you will have a big enough jacket to wear just an idea LOL. I can't believe how that road you took and it had that guardrail blocking you to get on that highway that was so funny. Anyway stay safe and have fun guys God bless you

You made me cold just watching you, anything below 75 on a bike with only a wet T shirt is brutal it will chill you to the bone next time when you stop get that wet T shirt off it just makes you colder. Tim you should do the mountain side of Northern Luzon, Philippines. The roads are not always smooth but the scenery will compensate for the discomforts. Do it in summer time, the scenery will be just amazing.

Dude I was so crushed FOR you when you got to the train station after getting lost lol
I got food poisoning taking the public owned train from Da Nang (little further south of Dong Hoi) to Hanoi. I didn't get much sleep as the trains are a bit outdated. And the fumes from the diesel engine gave me a headache. It was a long 18 hours. If there is a next time, I'll take the bus.
