  • Bak Kut Teh, Meat Bone Tea literally translated, is a rich pork rib broth from Malaysia. This is my version, minus the medicinal herbs. Made in the Instant Pot electric pressure cooker.

    My version of bak kut teh, a Malaysian/Singaporean pork bone soup using simple ingredients. So easy, so tasty. Happy Sunday! 💕

    Home made Malaysian Bah Kut Teh will add fried beancurd, firm tofu, fish / chicken meatballs and other stuff you fancy. We will just blanch vege with side of dark soy sauce + light soy sauce + finely chopped garlic and bird's eye chili serve with onion oil rice (typical Klang style). That would be our family's weekend dinner - shortcut as leave it to boil over the stove.

    Did this tonight. Fantastic! Couldn't get mini ribs so used 4 full back ribs and then a pile of pork butt chopped into inch square pieces. Also used a touch less pepper. I popped the time up to 25 mins to compensate for the difference in meat. Otherwise the same and man oh man, wow! It was amazing. The broth is outstanding. I told dh this was "medicinal" and he said "This sure beats the heck outta chicken noodle soup!" I agree. Thanks Flo!! This is definitely making it into my regular recipe rotation.

    If you can get back bones or femur bones at your local asian grocer, then boil those for 5 hours. Then remove the bones and use the soup as a base for making the above. Also recommend adding goji berries for the last 10 minutes.

    This looks good. Can you use this for ramen broth?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing’s to stop you from cooking some ramen on the side and having it with this and it’ll taste good! But I don’t think any of the spices would be used in Japanese ramen broth.

    Hi Flo- I love your laugh! It’s like wind chimes tinkling. Lol
    “I’m such a clumsy person.” No. You are not. You just can’t be bothered! 😉
    My mom used to say to me that if there was anything to run in too or trip over that I would find it. That’s still true today at 62!
    This soup reminds me of a very nutritious bone broth. I’m saving this recipe. I really need to use my instant pot. I got it- my son got it for me. Was gung ho for a little bit then I fizzled out. Going to try to do better.
    God Bless You & Yours. ♥️
