- Bak Kut Teh, Meat Bone Tea literally translated, is a rich pork rib broth from Malaysia. This is my version, minus the medicinal herbs. Made in the Instant Pot electric pressure cooker.

My version of bak kut teh, a Malaysian/Singaporean pork bone soup using simple ingredients. So easy, so tasty. Happy Sunday! 💕
Do you have a link to the spice bags? :)
Home made Malaysian Bah Kut Teh will add fried beancurd, firm tofu, fish / chicken meatballs and other stuff you fancy. We will just blanch vege with side of dark soy sauce + light soy sauce + finely chopped garlic and bird's eye chili serve with onion oil rice (typical Klang style). That would be our family's weekend dinner - shortcut as leave it to boil over the stove.
Hubs is Singaporean so I've cooked batkuteh in the rice cooker. Dude is the coolest. Appreciate both you & his simple & relatable recipe & vids. Love you both!
I made this dish & my husband enjoyed it. This will definitely be on our list of home food to cook from now on.
Great video. I love your videos. I recently bought a Instant Pot Duo Crisp. Your videos are great education.
Yum! I’ve never had this, but I’m definitely going by to make it ❤️ thank you :)
One of my very favourite dishes! 😍
Looks good, going to have to try it. Thanks
Looks yummy. Will try this. Thanks Flo
Thank you, thank you for this wonderful recipe Flo. Just love it. You helped me saved money for not buying the packet anymore.
Did this tonight. Fantastic! Couldn't get mini ribs so used 4 full back ribs and then a pile of pork butt chopped into inch square pieces. Also used a touch less pepper. I popped the time up to 25 mins to compensate for the difference in meat. Otherwise the same and man oh man, wow! It was amazing. The broth is outstanding. I told dh this was "medicinal" and he said "This sure beats the heck outta chicken noodle soup!" I agree. Thanks Flo!! This is definitely making it into my regular recipe rotation.
Thank you.. I'm find here and I follow to cook for my employer...
Omg look at THAT! Yup I'm making this
Looks delicious
I love soup specially bone broth , must try this with all the spices thank you Flo 😋
Hope you like it, Lily!
My brother made a similar dish like this for my mom. It's a Filipino version though so it's a sour tasting soup base. I wanna try your version though, yummy.
I'm definitely going to try your recipe. Being from Malaysia, I've only had the Malaysian style Bak Kut Teh. But if this does it for Dude, maybe it'll do it for me.
You are the best Flo 👏
My favorite comfort soup , thanks Flo for sharing your recipe simple one to follow 👏🙏 💐 Hi Chaiya 😍🥰
Great soup for cold nights.
Awesome thank you😀
My favorite soup !❤️
You remind me I guess high-school classmates 😊 before with the word "dude" . Love your channel ❤ greetings from Guam 🇬🇺 stay well and God bless.
I've never had bone broth before, but definitely want to try it out one day
The video sound is pretty good, beyond my imagination
Looks good
Oh my gosh Dude, your Uncle Roger impression!!😂 I'm really excited to try this one, great idea with the tea bag Flo!
Dude’s whole family speaks with that accent. 😂
Flo, as an Asian, your own muxture of the herb & spices are spot on. Thank you
Flo. I don't see those
Bak Ku Teh pre-pack
packet. I shall keep
looking but I 'll copy your own mixture. 🎉😂😂😂😂😂
Lately, to save money, I have been using pork neck bones to recipes that call for pork rib. It’s way cheaper and you can find the cut fairly easily in Korean and Chinese supermarkets.
Aww I like all the other herbs and roots
Greetings! I hope you guys are doing well. I was wondering if I might make this using pork neckbones? They are very flavorful and perhaps might enrich the soup broth. Thanks a million, Flo.
Oh yeah add the rice, looks delicious. Thank you Flo and Dude for another fabulous recipe. Have a blessed day stay safe and healthy. ❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏
Whats cooking time if you use an ordinary pot ?
Lived in Asia and this looks yum !
This looks amazing! We made your air fryer pork belly last week. IT was perfect. This is definitely next! Also, that is a gorgeous kitty! What breed is it? :)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! I haven't had this in a long time!
How come you didn't add star anise?
She did. Flo put two star anise in the teabag. :)
@@lavendulafleur8303 oh I might have missed it :-Dv
Kaya’s so cute!😘
If you can get back bones or femur bones at your local asian grocer, then boil those for 5 hours. Then remove the bones and use the soup as a base for making the above. Also recommend adding goji berries for the last 10 minutes.
This looks good. Can you use this for ramen broth?
Nothing’s to stop you from cooking some ramen on the side and having it with this and it’ll taste good! But I don’t think any of the spices would be used in Japanese ramen broth.
Try a bit of oyster sauce in it. Looks great.
Hi Flo- I love your laugh! It’s like wind chimes tinkling. Lol
“I’m such a clumsy person.” No. You are not. You just can’t be bothered! 😉
My mom used to say to me that if there was anything to run in too or trip over that I would find it. That’s still true today at 62!
This soup reminds me of a very nutritious bone broth. I’m saving this recipe. I really need to use my instant pot. I got it- my son got it for me. Was gung ho for a little bit then I fizzled out. Going to try to do better.
God Bless You & Yours. ♥️
Dude cracks me up! 😂
Hi Katherine! It is always such a joy to read your comments! I’ve been clumsy all my life too. It’s a miracle I’ve never been seriously hurt. LOL Blessings to you and yours! 😘💕
@@FloLum ♥️ 🤗
Do you know how I would convert or determine cooking time from stove top to instant pot? I would love to recreate some of my mom's best soup recipes in the instant pot but she cooks them on stove top. Many thanks!
I don’t use any particular formula, just from experience. I usually start at 30 mins and adjust from there. Hope that helps.
When I was a kid in southern California our school had California pepper trees in the schoolyard, nobody ever picked them up, what a waste thanks for the video guys👍
🤣 I guess peppers didn’t appeal to the kids.
💕
Could one use other meats like chicken or beef
.
You used a lot of the spices from Pho. Did it taste anything like pho broth?
Similar spices, different proportions plus and minus other key ingredients… all to say no. LOL Does not taste like pho.
Beautiful beautiful cat 😍💕
Hi Flo, that looks so good, healing, beautiful. Could you cyber send me a bowl.💛
Where can I find disposable tea bags?
At Daiso
My favorite soup... But i dont know where to buy bak kut teh here in the Philippines 😞
💞👍
I love ur cat...
Gee never never add sugar. Replace it with oyster sauce.
Star anise, clove, cinnamon are indian herbs not chinese herb.
Those herbs are not exclusively indian. It can be found in any part of southeast asia.
uncle Roger might approve
if uncle Roger critique Dude's spam fried rice he might get a Fuiyoh
