I don't bother using first gear on the street -it pulls fine starting in 2nd Cover your lower frame with some tape or something, boot rub wore the paint off the frame in under 200 miles on mine! Good review, I totally agree, it's a great bike, fun to ride and a massive upgrade over the 250
Man this brings back memories. I used to drive that road all the time. Baxter to palomar to Winchester. Loved temecula the mall and surrounding area. I left 10 years ago.
@@TheCoolestCourier moved to Idaho. Economic and political reasons. It's a better environment to raise a family up here. Just waiting to get one of those bikes. Great video's man.
Thanks for another video !!! It's funny how we have very similar bike choices , You have an XSR and I have the FZ-09 , You have the 300L and i'll be getting the 300 Rally haha . Looking forward to seeing more trail rides from you and possibly different types of trails
Hard to beat Honda reliability! I love small dispacement thumpers, which is all I've owned since the mid 1970s. I treated myself to a BMW G310GS for my 60th birthday and it's very similar in features to your new CRF300L. I looked at the Rally version after your previous video, and it looks like a larger tank (more better!) and small windshield but an inch less suspension travel and ground clearance (boo!). I mostly commute around town, but I bought my baby GS for old man solo adventure camping with back roads, gravel roads, dirt roads and very mild off road. I love the large rack, which seems to be missing from the CRF300L Rally.
I went down to my dealership in 23’ and they had a 300L & 450RL I chose the 300L because it was half the price of the 450 (I wanted the 450) Almost 6,000 miles later, I am glad I got the least expensive version. Because it’s for backroads cruising at 55 and fun on dirt roads. It’s not good for transportation. It’s scary on the freeway. It’s like running for your life when cars are doing 80. So I just consider it as a fun bike and use it accordingly.
I don't know why people complain about the brakes. If you grab a handful you can easily lock up the knobbie tyres on tarseal (or activate the ABS) and there's no point in having more than that. The brake feel is optimised for feel and control in low traction off-road conditions.
Yeah it should be fine. It did well with my girlfriend on the back of the bike and also I ride around with a 15 pound backpack sometimes which puts the total weight at 190.
It would probably be just fine but you could just get the KLX 300 Supermoto already done from the factory and it makes more power. Or if you really like this Honda engine you could get the cb300r and it will handle much better
I'll be on the freeway keep it 65-70 so i'll be the only bike in the slow lane. but thats what I bought it for to go explore and the brakes seem fine to me on the street i rarely use the rear brake
It would be doable with those boots but I think you would have a much better time with a Yamaha xt250. I loved that bike when I had it. I did a full review on it a few videos back.
Sore butt and very hot right leg in city rides beyond an hour and shifting from stop light to stop light on city streets gets very tiring. Nevertheless, I find myself enjoying the city sights.
My neighbor and I got on the highway he was on his 300L and my car speedo was at 82mph next to him so 70 isn't a problem he's 220 lbs. The rpms seem to smooth out after a couple hundred miles on the bike
Hell yeah! Watch my xsr700 review. We have the best roads. I deliberately did boring city roads to show what a commute would be like to work in the city. Like MC Commute if you've seen that channel
I am picking my 300L tomorrow and am having a hard time finishing work today.
Awesome!
I've had mines for about 3 weeks now. Your going to love it.
Going to get this bike too. Thoughts so far?

Good idea. I just wear high-top motorcycle shoes so it doesn't feel like I'm touching the frame but I will definitely check. Thanks for the tip

Nice. Yeah I love this area. Where did you move to and why?
@@TheCoolestCourier moved to Idaho. Economic and political reasons. It's a better environment to raise a family up here. Just waiting to get one of those bikes. Great video's man.
Yep, very good reasons honestly. My friend just moved to Boise and he loves it
Nice! If you ever want someone to ride with you could hit me up. My Instagram is @thatdrummerwholifts
I can’t wait to see what places you take this too!
All the places
Trying to find one, you got lucky it looks like. Great reviews and thanks.
Yeah it's tough. They're sold out at the moment
Just got mines. So glad and blessed.
Yeah, I've called every dealer in a 100 mile radius of me and they are all out. The one guy tried to tell me the bike isn't even out yet.

You have great taste as well lol.
Yeah I will be doing many different places in the dirt coming up

Yeah in person the the Rally looks a little funny. But the extra gas and windshield would be nice.
Hey Jimmy what mic and camera set up are you using
Go pro hero 9, mic is purple panda lav mic taped to the inside of the chin of the helmet
@@TheCoolestCourier it sounds great man
Thank you!
@@TheCoolestCourier you’re welcome
Hopefully you can add the LED headlight they offer overseas...
That would be nice
Very good. What is the action cam?
Thanks. It's a go pro hero 9 on 4k 60fps wide view

Is that the front brake line sticking up above the speedo? What's up with that?
Yep. That's where they decided to put the brake line on these bikes
Great video bro. I’m putting a down payment on my tomorrow
Awesome!

Yep, you're totally right. Honestly they just needed like a weeks to break in
Jimmy, are the shocks adequate for a total weight of rider, and gear at 200# ? I have the 300l on order! Be safe, have fun!
Yeah it should be fine. It did well with my girlfriend on the back of the bike and also I ride around with a 15 pound backpack sometimes which puts the total weight at 190.
Would you recommend this as a first bike?
Absolutely, especially if your taller than 5'9.
Not great for commuting on highways though
Planned on just city driving and some trails on the weekend
Perfect
Awesome. Thanks man!
Thanks Jimmy
No problem!
Dude that is so unlike the '14 250l!! The clutch was the opposite of slippery lol, god I feel so cheated!!! What was the MSRP?
Good video. Sucks to hear the breaks are weak on it. Hope there is some kind of adjustment to them. :)
They're actually plenty for the dirt but on the street I am used to dual rotors
Engine compression braking suffices in the city, as well as downshifting to brake.
How does the stock tyres on wet road? Thinking of getting this as my commuter bike too.
I think they work just fine
Good stuff on this video, Thank You.
I'm glad people are liking the content. Thanks for watching
What GoPro do you use and will you do upgrades to the crf
Hero 9.
I might do exhaust and tune eventually but not soon.
@@TheCoolestCourier do you know how much horsepower the tune adds
No, I haven't seen anyone do it yet
Made a deposit on the rally version non abs model won’t be able to get one for 4-5 months but on the list number 6 on list great vid 👍🤟
Thanks!
Can’t even find one of those up here in Maine
Yeah they are hard to find right now
was it more fun driving the crf250l?
I have never ridden a CRF250L so I couldn't say
fit second person?
Yes as long as you're both on the lighter side. I think it says capacity is 300lbs
How would a pair of supermoto wheels fair on this ?
It would probably be just fine but you could just get the KLX 300 Supermoto already done from the factory and it makes more power. Or if you really like this Honda engine you could get the cb300r and it will handle much better
Change the sprockets out for better highway travel
If this was my only bike I 100% would
Does it have a twitchy throtle ?
For a 300. Yes. Very. Unfortunately it makes it tough to stand on technical stuff in second gear but you do get used to it.
I'll be on the freeway keep it 65-70 so i'll be the only bike in the slow lane. but thats what I bought it for to go explore and the brakes seem fine to me on the street i rarely use the rear brake
Yeah the slow lane works fine. The brakes aren't terrible but I'm always switching back and forth between the CRF and the XSR which has dual rotors
How is the engine heat?
Not bad. I mean my XSR is more than double the engine and runs cooler so I guess the CRF is not impressively cool but it's not an issue at all
can the bike be compared to a mx bike power wise? does it pull and is it peppy?
It's not as fast as a 250 MX bike but it's getting there. Its pulls strong in the dirt!
Good video. Also: Nice job, if you can use your motorcycle to do it!
But you probably can't do motocross with it?
It could be done, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's a little squishy and heavy
If I’m 5’8 with a 28 inch inseam *without boots on*. Would I be able to handle the high seat height. My boots give me like 1.5 inches.
It would be doable with those boots but I think you would have a much better time with a Yamaha xt250. I loved that bike when I had it. I did a full review on it a few videos back.
@@TheCoolestCourier lol I bought it already just waiting on shipping, I’ll figure it out I guess
Oh ok. It should be fine. Just slightly tippy toe
drop 2 teeth on the rear sprocket=6% more top speed should make it more highway friendly along with a reflashed ECU for 91 octane from 550 performance
Sore butt and very hot right leg in city rides beyond an hour and shifting from stop light to stop light on city streets gets very tiring. Nevertheless, I find myself enjoying the city sights.
Does it feel like the motor's gonna blow up when your doing 70 on the highway? thanks
No but it definitely doesn't feel like it's the ideal RPM to sit at. 7000 RPM at 70 miles an hour
My neighbor and I got on the highway he was on his 300L and my car speedo was at 82mph next to him so 70 isn't a problem he's 220 lbs. The rpms seem to smooth out after a couple hundred miles on the bike
RPM GAUGE?!?!?!?!??!???!! I'm so pissed lol
I'm dying at all of your comments lol. Didn't you pick your bike up for like under $4,000 though? This big expensive bitch was $7,300 out the door.
I want mine!!!!!! :( im so jealous
They should be arriving soon. Are you in the states?
