@@maeaooo I don’t really think it’s ever a compliment. Stealing means you never credited, which is always a fuck you, especially if the artist specifically asked not to.
Haters: How dare you draw yourself as Kiki! you *insert racist insult here* Thumin: Oh so you like it? Then I will draw myself as Miku too! Im sure you'll love that one even more! Legend, absolute Legend
They are! And they're so fascinating to me. Art thiefs can't directly sell the pieces, because it'll have them caught instantly-- so I've always wondered what most of them do to it. I bet many of them are really into art themselves and are actually keeping some of these art pieces intact and safe. Of course, I could be wrong. (and I most likely am)
I wanted to draw myself as Snow White and Alice and other white Disney princesses/female characters (Disney versions) since I grew up with them and I’m not even white, I’m Asian. If it’s okay for Thumin to draw herself as Kiki then it’s fine if I do the same with Disney princesses like Snow White and Belle. It’s fine for any artist regardless of race to draw themselves as their favorite character of a different race. It’s like cosplay.
I definitely need to read up on this and other stories of literal art theft. Been seeing to many art theft stories revolving around copying lately. Need to learn how the old school did it
*‘Im thinking Thumin Thumin oo-ee-oo’* What a champ, she keeps her content awesome and wholeheartedly manages to stay with her supporters. I feel horrible about how people are treating you, and I hope it gets better soon.
My brother and I watched the entire Netflix Documentary and found it extremely interesting. though disappointed that we didn’t get a real answer in the end, that’s just how the world is. Great video as always!
This was really interesting to heart about! also your Mikusona is super beautiful, i love how you turned the ponytails into locs wrapped into space buns!
AAAAAAA your Mikusona is so cuuuuute!!! I am constantly in awe of your art but idk this one hits different. Also YES please talk about the underground stolen art market, that sounds so interesting and I am intrigued
I love the way you draw eyes, there is a shine(not sure if ists the word I want but I'll use it here) to them that is beautiful and really pulls the eye of the observer towards them.
Oh wow. I never knew about this before of history in school. This was actually interesting to hear, great video and hope you've been doing well. Keep going 💚
Over the past few days, I have been OBSESSED with your channel, new videos and old. I am concerned about how people have stollen such big arts because I LOVE to hand draw people with brown hair and white skin but I am experimenting with new colors such as a mix of black and white, which is my fav mix of skin because they are so pretty🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Woah, would love more art related true crime videos like this, it was really interesting to hear about c: also love watching the artwork in the background, its always so mesmerizing
I would love to see more about the Black market of artwork, because it's so goddamn bizarre. Its not like these rich people will display the paintings in their living room, yknow? Also, they removed it with a fucking **knife**, are they out of their minds?!
The information about the art heist is very interesting, though I don't really have any guesses as to who could have done it. Also your Hatsune Thumin is really cute! :D
16:57 YUPPP truly, I wish this could be recognized more and that there would be wider spread returns of artworks and other articifacts to the places they were stolen from so they people who they belong to can enjoy them more than those paying to walk around an instituation mainly built out of disingenuous collecting
U are my favorite TH-cam u deserve the most and none of the hate that u get those people are just haters of ur Beauty u should keep going ur doing great❤️❤️❤️
I was waiting for the eagle thing to come up. Don't think I'd heard mention of the Gu before. It's wild that people could stage such an elaborate heist but have no basic understanding of why canvasses are stretched.
The fact that they have the frames on display is somewhat chilling. I think it *has* to be an inside job, because of the nature of the crimes and the smooth flow of events, but I'm not sure who was involved or how.
So hyped for this video and another great video topic more than worthy of discussion. Also of course, more than excited to see some Thumin art too.^.^ I still think Rick had something to do with it and don't necessarily buy the incompetency claims. There's a lot of circumstantial bits that don't entirely add up for me to believe that and I find not knowing about policy hard to believe. Seems like something they'd drill in when someone takes such a job.

This case is very interesting but very confusing at the same time
Hii 💖
It really is. I added some sources in the description so if u want to explore it deeper, u can!
Hi Thumin💜, this isn’t really related to the video but I wanted to ask if you were gonna make a video on the Shannon/CreepShowArt situation?

I’ve known for awhile. In fact, when I hear “art thief” I think of some badass spy thief breaking into a museum with laser cutters and sh*t
I live near the museum myself, they keep the frames empty as a reminder of the heist its kinda cool actually

Totally agree that the world's biggest heist was committed by the British Empire!!! Love your content btw!

I thought the biggest art heist ever was the rise of "promotional pages" that don't credit the artist.
