    I'm with DP, leather over suede for a street car. BUT, get a quick release, and you can swap wheels when you get to the track, and both of you win.

    Nice video. Big miss IMO on removing the highly desirable Cinnamon interior. You can easily get custom upholstery covers from AMX for the Recaros to match. Would have really taken it up a notch.

  • @spazda_mx5
    @spazda_mx5 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I think the fact the OEM wheel (and paddle shifters for the SMG) is getting swapped out indicates the engine and gearbox aren't going to be too far behind...

  • @SAVING_ICONIC_MACHINES
    @SAVING_ICONIC_MACHINES 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    And get the oem wheel with alcentara or something and keep the pedal shift..it’s good enough for the CSL and it’s a track car so I’m sure it’s going to be just fine for a E46 M3 super car killer

    No airbag on the street is not a good idea. If it was strictly a track car, I'd go with one of the Momo's.

    The black and silver combo matches the seats. Looks good.

  • @ProjectSupercar
    @ProjectSupercar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I'm enjoying this series so please don't get offended, but regarding the steering wheel I'd refurbish the original. Supercars maybe about performance, but they're also about the prestige and premium package, i.e. Leather, styling, tech, luxury etc. Those wheels you're chosen are too track focused, not really in keeping with pulling up the Hilton for dinner, if you know what I mean. Plus you've lost the on wheel function switches. I think doing an episode on refurbishing the wheel would be interesting (OK, a manual wheel, not this one with the paddles) And at the end of the day, it's still an "M" wheel. ;)

  • @jamesmk1cos
    @jamesmk1cos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    nice work so far. but for guys in the industry i'm surprised you put harnesses on a reclining seat regardless of who makes them. the downward force in an impact will snap the seat in half. especially as your shoulder connections look above angle guidelines. (should be verticle line to 45deg downwards. some state 10deg above verticle but on a fixed seat.)

  • @braydonscully4646
    @braydonscully4646 5 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    Neither wheel works, you lose paddle shifters and controls. Get an alcantara OE wheel. With carbon trim.

      They said their planning on a manual conversion in the episode they picked the car up.

    • @braydonscully4646
      @braydonscully4646 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Missed that, but even with a manual conversion, I would still go OE alcantara for the wheel! If the theme is super car, you want a cohesive look, not parts bin amalgamation. The Recaro seats work as BMW used similar in the CSL. They should also go carbon fibre roof, if they want to go super car hunting!

    Go with panavise phone mount. It’s a machined part that mounts to the dash using the factory mounting point, under the trim, and it is an extremely solid setup and much cleaner look. Rennline has a similar mount too. Consider coby for a oem+ style steering wheel. Looks like you guys are going to do a manual swap so the euro armrest delete center console would be a good idea too. Sick build 👍🏻

    @Khan_Art_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You guys are going to manual swap it right??? I prefer and OEM style wheel but of the two choices I like the suede. You can fit Porsche 996 brakes on the rear. I would not only do the fronts. Get wheel studs as well.

    Get the carbon fiber interior trim set from carbonius. You can probably sell the full cinnamon interior set too if it isn’t too torn up, a lot of people look for those. I personally would just rewrap the OE steering wheel, much cleaner that way, especially with the OE+ look that you guys are going for. You should probably refresh all the liner and other interior and exterior rubber trims since those are probably smelly and sagging given all the time it spent in the swamp.

  • @RRozenberg
    @RRozenberg 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the build so far. i know u r building a supercar killer, but is it for the track or for the strip? Because u said your going to do a manual swap and in my opinion if its for track use u should keep the smg automatic, it would shift way faster then you with a manual. Would give you a big advantage over a stick shift if it's for track use. If its for the drag strip then a manual is more fun. My opinion

    I would look into having the oem wheel reshaped/refurbished. Not sure what it would cost to have it reshaped but it would fit in with the more modern look and keep buttons and airbag.
